Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1047: Chapter 578: Are They Planning a Sneak Attack on Our Base? (Part 2)

”We need more diggers.” Xu Xin squinted and looked out the window, ”So, they’re going back to bring the main force.”

”Huh?” Zeng Tao quickly ran to the window to look outside, ”Are you saying... the main force is about to attack?”

”There’s a certain possibility.”

Everyone in the explorer group saw the message Xu Xin sent.

Wang Lei: ”Damn, is this sending over big rats!”

Zhao Xiaochuan: ”Underground tunneling... I thought the surface with the World Tree and the root system of the treehouse was the safest...”

Qin Yunlong: ”What do we do if they really dig in from underground?”

Ji Chaoyang: ”Let’s gather under the World Tree and discuss.”

Qi Xuefei: ”Okay.”

Wen Guixin: ”Wait for me, I’ll be back soon, I’m a bit far! I’m watching these surrendered mutated creatures on the periphery!”

Xu Xin immediately also wanted to leave.

”I want to go too!” Zeng Tao immediately wanted to follow Xu Xin.

She couldn’t wait to escape from here.

”I’m not going.” Ma Hongwei waved his hand, ”I can only handle above ground and in the air, those guys digging underground... I can’t deal with them, better to do more research.”

Xu Xin nodded.

He didn’t like being in crowds, and generally wouldn’t participate unless necessary.

”Let’s go.”

Xu Xin and Zeng Tao descended from the treehouse and arrived beside the World Tree.

Looking at the World Tree again, it was still growing, but its speed was no longer as visibly fast as before, you wouldn’t notice it without careful observation.

Except for Wen Guixin, who was a bit far away, and Qin Fu, everyone else had arrived.

Even Lou Fei’Er and Jin Yue were there.

After all, Lou Fei’Er was also in the group and could see Xu Xin’s message.

And Jin Yue now looked completely renewed.

Her figure was more upright, and her skin was incredibly smooth.

Seeing Xu Xin looking at her, she gently nodded, indicating she had fully recovered.

At this moment, Qin Fu returned.

He walked directly towards the crowd gathered under the World Tree.

Wen Guixin followed closely behind.

”Qin Fu, clearly explain what you discovered again.”

”Okay.” Qin Fu nodded, ”Here’s the situation...”

Qin Fu once again detailed the situation of the tunnel.

”We really need to seriously think about our countermeasures.” Ji Chaoyang said solemnly, ”Underground invasion is hard to stop.”

”Underground tunneling...” Wang Lei stomped on the ground, ”These alien invaders, they really use every shameless trick, are they trying to sneak attack us directly from underground?”

”They went back to call the army, didn’t they?” Zhao Xiaochuan said worriedly, ”Wouldn’t that mean they’re coming soon? We must quickly come up with a plan!”

”No.” Xu Xin shared his idea, ”Perhaps, not so soon.”

Everyone looked at him.

”My thought is, underground invasion isn’t that easy to carry out secretly.” Xu Xin explained, ”After all, with the act of tunneling underground, if there are many mutated creatures, it’s easy for us to detect their actions. Especially me.”

Xu Xin possessed mapping abilities, with plenty of red dots appearing around, how could he not notice?

”Exactly.” Ji Chaoyang agreed, ”Moreover, at the edges of our Crystal City, there are a large number of mutated creatures that have turned to our side. If only one or two appear, they might not act, but if the enemy appears on a large scale, they won’t stay indifferent. It’s impossible to launch a large-scale attack without being exposed.”

”Indeed.” Wen Guixin nodded, ”I went to see that group of mutated creatures, they are all in high spirits now, very friendly towards me, and have also expressed their desire to protect Crystal City.”

”But what if they burrow in from farther away?” Qi Xuefei asked.

”That is indeed a possibility.” Xu Xin picked up the conversation, ”However, what I’m suggesting is another possibility. That is... the underground army might appear together with ground and air forces.”

Xu Xin’s words caused everyone’s faces to change slightly.

”If it were me, I would do it this way. When a large number of mutated creatures appear simultaneously, if a portion of them goes underground, they wouldn’t be noticeable. This part of the creatures would advance underground towards the World Tree, while the enemies on the ground and in the air would be responsible for diverting attention.”

”We have prepared many methods to deal with ground and air enemies, including everyone’s treehouse crossbows, with decent anti-air capabilities, combined with Sister Gui Xin’s abilities, the beast hordes are not to be feared.”

”But...” Xu Xin pointed to the ground, ”When we are celebrating the defeat of air and ground enemies... the underground enemy might have already destroyed the World Tree. Without Qin Fu’s abilities, this might have been our fate.”

Xu Xin’s words left everyone around him silent.

Everyone, including Xu Xin himself, felt a chill.

It was indeed so.

Without Qin Fu’s abilities, if the opponents really planned it this way, they might have launched a sneak attack on us without us even realizing it.

”Very likely.” Ji Chaoyang looked at the World Tree beside him, ”Moreover, digging a tunnel from underground to underneath the World Tree might be able to destroy the World Tree more effectively. Underground attack might actually be their true means.”

”Why?” Wang Lei was puzzled, ”The root system of the World Tree is so extensive, what does breaking a few roots matter, that still requires severe destruction, it would be easier on the surface, and down there they still have to dig.”
