Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1032: Chapter 573: Monsters of the New Generation

Underworld.

Li Wenxi, lying in bed in a daze, finally felt a hint of fatigue.

She raised her hand to glance at her watch; it was already five in the morning.

It should be daylight above by now...

”But, here in the underground world, it’s hard to tell day from night...”

She turned her head to look out the window; the brightness outside remained unchanged, as if time had stopped.

”Living in a place like this for so long, you really can’t feel the passage of time.”

She felt her eyes twitching.

”It’s already morning, should I still sleep...”

”So sleepy, might as well sleep, since it’s not as dangerous down here as it is above...”

She resisted the drowsiness and got up, walked to the window, wanting to close the curtains to block out the outside light.

”Hmm?” Her expression suddenly tightened, looking out the window.

”...Is there someone outside?” A trace of alertness diluted her sleepiness.

She peered outside through the window.

On the entire hillside, there was only this villa, other places were relatively empty.

”No one?” Li Wenxi’s gaze flickered, then she relaxed and breathed a sigh of relief, ”Looks like I was mistaken.”

She drew the curtains, blocking out the outside light.

Because the curtain-pulling motion was rather casual, a gap remained between the two curtains.

But she didn’t mind, turning around to walk to the bed, collapsing onto it directly.

”Mm... Why hasn’t Yingying returned yet... Will she bring down Xu Xin too...”

Mumbling, she closed her eyes and gradually fell asleep.

Thus, time drifted by, little by little.

After a while, suddenly, an eye appeared through the gap in the curtains!

The eye was wide open, bloodshot as if belonging to someone who stayed up all night!

And this eye was staring right at Li Wenxi lying on the bed!

The gaze remained fixed on the softly breathing Li Wenxi for about ten seconds, then vanished from the gap.

Everything returned to silence, as if nothing had happened.

About five minutes later, Li Wenxi opened her eyes.

Her gaze carried a hint of seriousness.

Outside, there really was someone!

Moreover, observing her?

She indeed hadn’t been mistaken earlier!

Just when she went to the window to draw the curtains, she felt a shadow flicker past the window.

That moment cleared any sleep from her mind.

She trusted her vision, that shadow absolutely existed! She couldn’t be wrong!

Understand, this is the third floor of the villa; if it wasn’t a bird, it must be... someone with ill intentions.

Yet...

This space is peculiar; birds should instinctively avoid approaching.

So, she deliberately left a gap in the curtains earlier and pretended to sleep.

In reality, her eyes were slightly open, continuously observing the gap.

When that eye appeared, she nearly screamed out loud!

Fortunately, she was someone who had weathered storms and life-threatening situations, she held back from making a sound, didn’t move, kept pretending to sleep, her eyes slightly open keeping watch outside.

The bedroom curtains were essential blackout curtains for the underground human base, creating a dark environment in this perpetually bright world.

With only a gap left between the curtains, the room was incredibly dim, making it nearly impossible for that eye outside to see her slightly open eyes, yet she could clearly see the eye outside.

The only certainty was that it was a person, not some monster as Xu Ying mentioned before.

With this thought, she eased her mind.

Just a human, nothing to fear.

Nonetheless, she didn’t want to alert the intruder.

So, she remained still until the owner of that eye left, all the while pretending to sleep.

Now, the person outside should have already left.

But... this was certainly unusual.

Xu Ying had previously told her that, due to this space’s peculiarity, people would instinctively avoid it, unable to draw near.

Yet the person just outside managed to approach.

Even sneaking a peek at her from the third-floor window!

No ladder outside the villa for climbing up, so did the person cling to the wall?

...Ugh!

How... disturbing...

Though Xu Ying had also told her, this villa was inherently difficult to damage and enter.

Similar to her treehouse above, without owner permission, others would find it hard to get in.

Constructed from materials with super-strong protective capabilities, the villa was initially built by Xu Xin for Xu Ying as a safe haven, naturally secure, akin to a crystal shelter.

Even upon entering, without permission, doors and windows in the villa remain essentially locked, unusable.

Thus, Li Wenxi inside was not overly concerned about the person outside.

She still trusted the villa’s protective capabilities.

Yet being spied on was discomforting!

Leaving her completely awake now.

She glanced at the curtain gap again, confirming nobody was peering at her anymore, cautiously sat up, barefoot, tiptoeing to the window.

Touched her backpack, the already-strung crossbow was inside.

The explosive bolts gave her greater assurance.

She took out the crossbow, then gently pulled the curtain aside, looking out.
