Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1040: Chapter 576: Greening Crystal City

The explorers have all left.

According to Ji Chaoyang’s predictions, there shouldn’t be any major events happening today.

However, no major events don’t mean it’s a peaceful day.

Perhaps there are undercurrents.

No, there are definitely undercurrents.

So they must be cautious everywhere.

Xu Xin sat on the sofa, looking a bit dazed.

Yingying told him not to leave Crystal City until the World Tree has fully grown, which left him unsure of what to do.

He kind of missed Wenxi.

”Are we just going to sit here idly?” Lou Fei’Er, who hadn’t left, asked Xu Xin, while playing with Keke’s big tail.

”We’re not allowed to leave Crystal City, it’s so boring.” Zeng Tao sprawled on the sofa, kicking her little feet against the floor, which made a loud crack and left a big dent.

”Hey, hey, don’t stomp so hard!” Lou Fei’Er quickly reminded her.

”Oh, oh...” Zeng Tao glanced secretly at Xu Xin and, seeing he wasn’t angry, breathed a sigh of relief and stopped moving, though she mumbled under her breath, ”It can fix itself anyway, what’s there to worry about...”

”I’m the one who’s bored the most.” Qin Fu spread his hands helplessly, ”Being cooped up here is making me itch all over.”

”Be like me, calm down and do some research.” Ma Hongwei, who was writing and drawing on the side, turned his head to glance at him, ”You’re so free, you might as well help me out.”

Jin Yue stood behind Ma Hongwei, looking at the drawings he made with interest.

”No, no.” Qin Fu immediately waved his hand, ”I have absolutely no interest in research.”

”Hmm? Weren’t you confirmed as a member of that team? How can you have no interest in research at all?” Zeng Tao asked him, puzzled.

Qin Fu shrugged: ”That’s another me, not me. But, I feel like even the other me wouldn’t be able to calm down and research something like a time machine. Hmm, a team can’t be made up entirely of researchers, right, boss?”

”Hmm? I’m not sure either, you’d have to ask Yingying about these things.” Xu Xin sat up straight from the sofa, ”Maybe you’re someone who goes out exploring, looking for new materials, or gathering intelligence on enemies?”

Their rambling conversations actually helped him relax his constantly tense nerves quite a bit.

He felt a little sleepy for a moment.

Come to think of it, he hadn’t slept for several days, and he was missing the random boosts from the treehouse, something felt lacking.

Maybe, he should take advantage of the current lack of crisis and sleep for three hours?

For him, the random boosts were an immense help.

”I think so too.” Qin Fu snapped his fingers, then looked out the window, ”My abilities are related to investigation, but unfortunately, all the trees in Crystal City have disappeared, and now there are only treehouses in Crystal City, so I can’t connect with them.”

”That is indeed a problem.” Xu Xin stroked his chin.

Qin Fu’s investigative ability is strong and must be utilized.

Crystal City isn’t 100% safe either, and having his abilities for investigation could serve as double protection.

”Well then, since you don’t have anything else to do, why not take some people with you to plant trees, make Crystal City greener.” Xu Xin pondered a bit and said, ”So that your abilities can be fully utilized.”

”I’ve had this thought for a long time.” Qin Fu immediately smiled, ”But I never found the chance. Since you say so now, I’ll go ahead and do it.”

”What about the seeds? How many do you have?”

”Don’t worry, I have enough with me.”

Xu Xin nodded: ”You can discuss with Zhao Xiaochuan, he’s in charge of crop planting. Planting anything is planting, you can also start early crop planting.”

”Makes sense, I got it.”

Xu Xin sent him down the treehouse.

”He’s leaving already? Hmm... but according to what he said, there’s still a possibility I could be a member of the research team!”

Zeng Tao’s mood improved a lot instantly, with a smile appearing on her face, ”Yeah, I’m definitely responsible for ensuring everyone’s safety in the team!”

”You’re responsible for ensuring safety...” Lou Fei’Er patted her on the head, ”That’s impossible, how can someone like you with such a petite build be tasked with security? Security personnel need to have a deterrent appearance first and foremost, do you have that?”

Xu Xin couldn’t help but chuckle a bit too.

With Zeng Tao responsible for security, the situation would indeed be a bit unbearable to watch.

Indeed, having someone with a very intimidating appearance responsible for the team’s safety could really save a lot of effort.

The deterrent factor alone would be enough to drive away most of the ill-intentioned individuals.

But if it’s someone like Zeng Tao, who looks so cute...

That wouldn’t only lack deterrence, but might also cause unnecessary trouble.

”You keep patting my head! How do you know I won’t have deterrence, maybe I will grow taller and bigger than you in the future!” Zeng Tao slapped her hand away, baring her teeth.

”Haha.” Lou Fei’Er laughed emotionlessly, the hint of mockery palpable.

”You...you...!”

The two started play-fighting.

Meanwhile, Xu Xin’s attention was caught by Ma Hongwei, who was deeply engrossed in research nearby.

At this point, Jin Yue, standing behind him, asked with some surprise, ”Is this... a new type of treehouse bolt-thrower? Why does it look so...”

”Not a treehouse bolt-thrower.” Ma Hongwei shook his head, ”I’m researching a kind of... mobile heavy cannon. But none of the attempts has been successful.”
