Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1014: Chapter 567: The Infiltrated City

”That’s strange... It should be around here, no mistake.”

Xu Ying was out in the field, sitting on a large rock, somewhat gloomily resting her chin.

”Why can’t I find it? Clearly, only the land in this area is polluted...”

After leaving the villa, she had roughly inspected the city’s surroundings and discovered that only the area they had just explored was polluted, while the rest remained normal soil.

”Polluted soil indicates there must be some special facility here.”

Xu Ying jumped off the big rock and turned to look at it.

She touched her smooth chin and then suddenly delivered a side kick to the nearly two-meter-high stone.

”Crack!”

Though her leg appeared slender and frail, it suddenly erupted with unparalleled force; the instant it touched the rock, the whole stone shattered and scattered all around.

”Hmm... Not inside either?” Xu Ying showed a slightly weary expression, ”Where exactly is it? Could I be wrong?”

”No, I shouldn’t be wrong.”

Xu Ying examined the surroundings carefully again: ”The center of the polluted area is right here; the source of pollution must be here, right... Could it be underground? It shouldn’t be... I remember the teleportation device has to have part of it exposed.”

Xu Ying believed that the reason the soil was polluted was due to the alien invaders burying a teleportation device here.

The alien invaders’ teleportation devices wouldn’t pollute nearby soil when buried, but each operation releases slight pollutants around it.

The pollutants causing soil pollution were byproducts generated during the operation of the teleportation device.

Since the main substances within the device were mostly depleted, its pollution capacity wasn’t strong, thus wouldn’t completely render the surrounding soil unusable.

But pollution gradually spreads; the more frequently the teleportation array is used, the larger the mildly polluted land area becomes.

”Judging from the size of this polluted land, if the teleportation device really caused it, that would be quite difficult to handle.” Xu Ying’s face turned grim.

To cause such a vast area of polluted land, the teleportation device would have had to be activated at least a hundred times, maybe even hundreds of times!

That number is absolutely terrifying!

If true, it basically indicates that the core human city here has long been thoroughly spied upon.

Also...

The reason the guards suddenly wanted to catch her this time can also be explained.

Perhaps someone among the human leadership here has genuinely established relations with the aliens on the surface!

Wei Bai probably isn’t involved; she didn’t sense traces of monsters or mutant creatures over there.

That suggests it must be one of the other two families... Or maybe both?

”More dogs!”

Xu Ying kicked away the rubble beneath her, clearing a space, but still couldn’t see what she was hoping to find here.

”Could I possibly be wrong?” Xu Ying was reluctant to believe her own suspicions.

If it really is the case, she would now be in an extremely passive situation.

This situation is simply awful!

She wasn’t afraid of anything the humans here might do to her; they couldn’t harm her, but if it’s the alien invaders...

That would be a whole different scenario.

Though she felt very confident in her current abilities, she’s facing alien invaders who have developed for seven hundred years beyond the ones who enslaved her for three hundred years, through their thousand years of regional roots...

She had no confidence at all.

”I can’t think like this!”

Xu Ying forcefully patted her cheeks until they turned a bit red to clear her mind.

”I possess time-space abilities; only this world can kill me, what are those monsters! Right now, I, myself, can beat them... surely beat at least one!”

Even wanting to give herself courage, she lost her temper while speaking.

She stomped away the rubble on the ground, squatted down, and held her head in her arms with frustration.

”What exactly is going on? Everything was perfectly normal when my older brother was here; things turned so complicated as soon as he left!”

Even though previously she didn’t have to deal with these matters, problems now became several times more complex than before, yet she had to take responsibility...

She can’t handle this!

”No! I have to pull myself together!” Xu Ying stood up abruptly, ”My brother gave me a chance to live, I can’t live so languidly!”

She looked around and checked the surroundings thoroughly once more.

Still discovered nothing.

”My suspicions should be correct.”

Xu Ying thought earnestly.

”Previously, I indeed saw a fleeting mutated human here, the coloration of their equipment is undoubtedly those dogs.”

”If this is the location of the teleportation device, it explains why I saw them here.”

”But surely I can’t find it...”

Xu Ying looked down at the ground.

”Could it be that it’s really buried underground? So strange...” She stomped her foot, pressing the earth, ”This was originally an underground world, further buried underground... Can this teleportation array really function like this?”
