Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1045: Chapter 77: Keke’s Origins - Burrowing In? (Part 3)

”Bang!” It hit the ground and then rushed toward him.

”Xu Xin, save me!”

Just as she jumped down, an angry shout came from the treehouse above: ”Get back up here and make sense of this blueprint for me!”

The sound of hurried footsteps came from the treehouse, and then he saw Ma Hongwei’s head pop out from the window.

”I’ve already simplified the blueprint for you! Why are you still... Brother Xin?... You’re here.”

Ma Hongwei took a deep breath, forcing a smile at the corner of his mouth.

But the veins bulging on his forehead revealed his current mood.

”I don’t want to learn anymore!”

Zeng Tao hid behind Xu Xin: ”Xu Xin, save me, I’m just not cut out for researching weapons!”

Xu Xin glanced at her, then looked again at Ma Hongwei, who was leaning against the window, holding his forehead, understanding something.

”Let’s go, I’ll go check it out too.”

”No—!” Zeng Tao screamed wretchedly.

Xu Xin examined the newly drawn blueprint by Ma Hongwei.

”This is indeed... much simplified.”

Xu Xin remarked.

If the original blueprint had all the weapon’s internal and external structures piled together with dense annotations and numbers, then this blueprint was much simpler.

The annotations were mostly gone, and even the structure looked much simpler; as long as one’s spatial imagination was rich enough, understanding it was not difficult.

”See?” Ma Hongwei couldn’t help but say, ”I’ve simplified it to this extent, even the weapon’s power has been drastically reduced, but she...!”

Ma Hongwei looked at Zeng Tao, who was hiding behind Xu Xin: ”She still can’t understand!”

Ma Hongwei was like a parent tutoring a child in homework.

No matter how he taught, the child just wouldn’t learn, no matter how hard they tried, and they didn’t want to learn, just wanted to run away.

This directly made his temper flare up.

Zeng Tao peeked her head out from behind Xu Xin: ”I just don’t understand it! What can I do?”

”It’s already this simple, how can you still not understand!”

”I don’t understand means I don’t understand, these lines you drew are all over the place, who knows what they are!” Zeng Tao snapped at Ma Hongwei.

Xu Xin fully understood the situation, looking at Zeng Tao behind him.

”To make her build the weapon, she has to understand the weapon’s structure herself.”

Xu Xin felt a headache.

No wonder she could only make those large knives before.

It turns out because the large knife’s structure is very simple, as long as the exterior is correct, the inside can be solid.

But firearms aren’t that simple; their internal structures are much more intricate.

This directly made the silly girl confused.

”I... I really don’t understand...”

Seeing Xu Xin’s gaze, Zeng Tao immediately shrank her head: ”It’s too hard...”

”Hard or not, you have to learn!”

Ma Hongwei slapped the table.

He was no longer in that somewhat indifferent attitude, like when Xu Xin first met him.

”You’re the only one who can make this weapon. If you can make it, it will greatly boost our combat power! But your attitude isn’t right! You don’t seriously listen to what I say and just want to run away!”

He was almost frantic.

It seems tutoring a child can indeed drive someone insane.

”Wha—I know, but...”

Zeng Tao’s eyes reddened, pursed her lips, and tugged on Xu Xin’s clothes, sniffing.

Goodness, she’s about to be scolded to tears here.

”Alright, alright.” Xu Xin quickly calmed Ma Hongwei, ”How can you be so agitated as a teacher? The more agitated you get, the less she listens.”

”I...” Ma Hongwei took a deep breath, ”Brother Xin is right.”

Xu Xin nodded, then turned and lightly patted Zeng Tao’s head behind him, ”Alright, don’t be aggrieved, you’re a grown-up.”

”I just don’t understand...”

”Not understanding can be learned. Your ability is unique within our organization; only you can do this task.”

”Mmm...” Zeng Tao rubbed her head, which Xu Xin had just patted, and lowered her head.

”Both of you, there’s no need to rush.” Xu Xin smiled, ”We won’t leave for a while, take your time making this weapon.”

Ma Hongwei sighed: ”I’m not in a hurry either...”

”You call that not being in a hurry.”

”I... But she doesn’t want to listen to me, keeps zoning out; I can’t help it either.” Ma Hongwei was helpless.

”Zeng Tao.” Xu Xin looked at Zeng Tao.

”Hmm...” Zeng Tao kept her head down.

”How about this, I’ll make a deal with you. As long as you make the weapon in Ma Hongwei’s blueprint, even the simplest one, I’ll... take you to inject gene serum, how about that?” Xu Xin tempted her.

Zeng Tao immediately raised her head, eyes wide: ”Really?”

”Of course, it’s true.” Xu Xin couldn’t help but smile.

In fact, he planned to take Zeng Tao once Jin Yue recovered.

This actually postponed it.

”I understand! I... I will definitely make it!” Zeng Tao’s eyes gleamed with determination.

”You too.” Xu Xin looked at Ma Hongwei, ”Don’t be impatient, once she completes it, you’ll go for an injection too.”

”I don’t mind... alright, I understand.” Ma Hongwei seemed not to be particularly eager for gene serum; after all, whether injected or not, it didn’t hinder his research.

”Okay, then... let’s take a break now.”

”A break? Yay!” Zeng Tao quickly cheered.

”Huh? We need to rest?” Ma Hongwei was very reluctant.

... This guy was probably a high-quality worker a thousand years ago.

Even as a boss, he was the kind who did more than employees, arrived at work earlier than them, and left later, forcing employees to stay late with him after work.

”Don’t you understand the balance between work and rest?” Xu Xin almost wanted to roll his eyes.

No wonder Zeng Tao wanted to escape.

Even he wanted to run away.

At that moment, his watch suddenly vibrated.

Looking up, it was Qin Fu.

”What’s up?” Xu Xin answered the call.

”Boss, something big has happened!” Qin Fu’s voice was very solemn, ”The trees around have grown, I’ve already used my ability. Let me get to the point directly, there’s danger underground! They want to tunnel in from below!”

Xu Xin’s face instantly froze.

From underground...

Drill in?
