Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1034: Chapter 574: Someone Outside the Window

The offspring of a monster and a human.

That monster?

Xu Xin was startled by this information, unable to speak for a while.

Mostly because of the thought of the scene of a monster and a human mating...

This is simply an epic disaster movie!

Just imagining it is enough to drive one to madness and nausea.

”No wonder...” Xu Xin muttered to himself, ”No wonder the monster’s body structure has some similarities to humans.”

It possesses human-like limbs, stands upright on legs similar to humans, and even has flexible fingers akin to humans.

It turns out to be because...

”That’s right.” Xu Ying seemed a bit uneasy, glancing out the window from time to time, ”Those are the human features on it because its mother was a genuine human, was...”

A trace of hatred flashed in Xu Ying’s eyes: ”Was one of those who were captured back then.”

”... It’s really an offspring born from the union of a monster and a human?” Xu Xin was truly stunned now.

One should know that there’s reproductive isolation between different species, making it almost impossible to produce offspring.

Even if offspring are produced, they do not possess reproductive capabilities. But that requires the genetic difference between the two species to be very small.

Like when a lion and a tiger mate, they can produce a liger.

Like when a horse and a donkey mate, they can produce a mule.

But...

The gap between alien life forms and Earth’s life forms is unimaginably huge!

It’s known that even among Earth’s life forms, humans and insects, with an enormous difference, can have a genetic similarity reaching 60%.

But the genetic similarity between alien entities and humans could never be that high!

How could two fundamentally unrelated creatures from different planets produce offspring?

He originally thought this hybrid of monster and human should be the result of genetic fusion and modification.

”... I also have doubts about this.” Xu Ying sighed.

”But... Back then, after giving birth to that monster, the mother returned to our side. At that time, her mental state was almost insane, but from her, we learned... at least, she went through what she should have, and the monster was indeed born by her. As for whether any experiments were conducted on her during that period... we do not know.”

”This is simply...” Xu Xin took a deep breath.

He simply could not imagine the despair she must have gone through.

Knowing that the monster, just looking at it would make one feel nauseated...

Wait...

”What do normal monsters look like?” Xu Xin immediately asked.

Since that monster is of mixed blood, it must look different from a normal monster, right?

”Normal monsters... they look almost nothing like humans.”

Xu Ying glanced out the window again, seemingly worrying that a monster might suddenly attack her from outside.

”Their appearance, I find difficult to describe. Hmm... basically, monsters have many limbs, each as flexible as human hands, and their bodies are covered in eyes unlike human eyes, with their heads having feeding mouths... or maybe called proboscis?”

Xu Ying thought for a moment and finally gave up explaining, shaking her head, ”I can’t explain, you’ll have to see it for yourself someday.”

It’s absurd just thinking about it, truly like Cthulhu...

”But, to be honest, to me, although the monsters indeed look terrifying, from a physiological disgust perspective... this particular monster is the one that looks nauseating!”

”This one is more disgusting? Why?”

”Because those are inherently monsters, isn’t it normal for monsters to look a bit scary?” Xu Ying gestured with her hands, ”But this monster, its appearance bears some resemblance to humans, which can invoke deep-seated human fear... like those eyes, you’ve seen them, they are all human eyes!”

Human eyes?

Xu Xin’s eyes widened slightly.

Indeed.

Their body is indeed covered with human eyes!

If you look at just one eye, it’s shaped and sized like a human’s eye, with a human’s iris and pupil!

”While other monsters also have bodies full of eyes, those are their eyes, vastly different from human eyes. If you don’t look closely, you wouldn’t even know they are eyes, so even if they are full of eyes, it wouldn’t make people feel nauseated. But this monster! This monster!”

Xu Ying’s throat rolled once as she covered her mouth, took two seconds to adjust, then revealed a disgusted expression: ”That monster is entirely covered with human eyes, when I first saw it, I was almost frightened to tears! So gross!!”

This... is indeed very unsettling.

If that monster were covered with a fly’s eyes, its horror and disgust factor might decrease a notch.

After all, it’s a monster and having bizarre things growing on it is very normal.

Yet because it possesses human features, those familiar traits growing in incorrect, completely foreign places, evoke double the fear.

For instance, if a person’s eyes are where the mouth should be, mouth at the nose’s place, nose on the forehead, is such a face terrifying?

Definitely terrifying.

Much scarier than a tiger.

Though each feature alone might be fine, collectively, it becomes an unbelievably terrifying monster.
