Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 499: Chapter 297: The Inside Story of the Crystal Flower’s Explosion

Hill shifted around and then simply sat down.

Floating in the seawater, his thoughts also drifted.

His bloodline was too mixed to be believed!

The Moon Elves’ bloodline was already abnormal, essentially a fruit that had been grown. Then the Earth Bear bloodline added to it, and finally this Crystal Flower in front of Hill. Luckily, the human body is the most accommodating, able to blend all sorts of things; otherwise, it would have exploded by now.

Hill lowered his head to ponder. Melanie’s near-miscarriage back then, the almost fatal situation for the fetus—perhaps it wasn’t all due to some sinister plot.

After all, that lady’s thoughts differed significantly from most people’s; she didn’t seem like the kind to fall into traps easily.

Perhaps the bloodlines were too powerful, causing a conflict that the fetus couldn’t withstand.

”I’m very curious about your bloodline.” A transparent flower branch extended to Hill’s face, gently caressing his cheek before slowly retracting.

”One of your ancestors within five generations probably ate my seeds and became a Water Sorcerer.” The Crystal Flower spoke slowly. ”But this bloodline is hard to pass to descendants. I don’t know what happened, but it seems one of your bloodlines was suddenly removed, probably by the Earth Bear bloodline, right? These bears are always overbearing.

Unfortunately, losing one bloodline doesn’t mean the Earth Bear bloodline would compensate for it right away. Instead, it directly activated the Crystal Flower within your body.

It was extremely dangerous; you were nearly killed by this bear’s blood pit.

Luckily, your parents were ordinary humans. When facing the Earth Sprites, the Earth Bear bloodline always shows some restraint.

As long as it’s not an enemy’s bloodline, they won’t be as aggressive.

My child, you haven’t told me your name yet!”

Hill quietly widened his eyes: ”Hill Polanio. Call me Hill.”

He couldn’t help but ask, ”Humans are Spirits of the Earth? What does that mean?”

”You don’t know?” The Crystal Flower said with interest, ”Back then, the Goddess of the Earth obtained three seeds from the World Tree. Only the Goddess of the Silvermoon directly planted the Moon Tree. Her thoughts were always the simplest, yet the most chaotic.

She never considered what kind of child she wanted to emerge when she planted the tree.

As a result, she grew a bunch of Moon Elves who still considered themselves descendants of the World Tree in their hearts.

But the Goddess of the Earth and the Sun God both fused their seeds into the earth. They hoped this world would directly give birth to its own intelligent life.

The final result is what we see now—children belonging to the earth, humans.

The Goddess of the Earth has always been gentle and did not want the children that would be born in the future to be bound, so when she fused the seeds into the earth, she entrusted them directly to the World Will and blessed them with freedom of belief.

At the time, the Sun and the Silvermoon also blessed them: infinite bodily possibilities and infinite mental freedom.

So humans couldn’t be coerced into belief. The gods that appeared later could only display their strength to attract human attention and could not turn them into slaves.

Initially, the Elf Deity System and the Dwarf Deity System tried to raise humans when they were first born, but they all failed.

They thought it was the World Will resisting foreign invaders, not realizing it was the gentleness of the Goddess of the Earth.

The Sun God’s blessing gave humans infinite possibilities; any profession could appear among them.

The Silvermoon’s blessing ensured humans, even if deceived for a short time, would always awaken one day.

So humans are truly blessed! The World Will also favors them greatly.

The Sun God’s children are quite troublesome.

Perhaps because he is too strong-willed, his followers manifest with great difficulty.

Fortunately, the Sun God had fused his seeds with the Goddess of the Earth back then, so these descendants of the Sun are hidden among humans. These Sons of the Sun instinctively know who they are and possess great power.

Later, didn’t a Goddess of Agriculture emerge? The God of Knowledge might too, but his path to godhood is a bit different, so I can’t be certain.”

Hill was so shaken by this long string of information that his worldview was about to collapse.

Though he had long noticed the close relationship between the Temple of Knowledge and the Agriculture Temple, he could never have imagined that both deities were followers of the Sun God.

Hill somewhat suspected that the upper echelons of these two temples might all be Sons of the Sun.

That’s why they were so familiar with each other.

Moreover, the humans of this world were also children of the earth...

This might also explain why the World Will insists that humans are the world’s favored race!

Hill had always found it strange that the one who had given the most for this world was the Goddess of the Earth. Logically, the world should favor her followers, the Magical Beast. Humans, after all, had never worshiped her.

Hill couldn’t help but glance again at the Crystal Flower in front of him: ”Did you already have consciousness when the Goddess of the Earth was still around?”

”A Crystal Flower takes over 100,000 years to awaken a little consciousness, and 500,000 years to communicate like I do. I was just lucky.” The Crystal Flower smiled gently. ”Back then, this place was the world’s center! The Goddess of the Earth was born here.

When she was born, the entire earth rejoiced; a rain of nature fell for ten days and nights. In just a few days, I seemed to have grown hundreds of thousands of years.

Unfortunately, I can never move.” The Crystal Flower regretfully moved her branch. ”When the world was attacked, the Goddess of the Earth remembered me while defending. I wasn’t always this deep down; there wasn’t a mountain above me either.

She was indeed a gentle goddess.

Though I survived, I am stuck here, immovable. It’s a bit difficult to endure!”

Hill remained silent. He didn’t believe that a magic plant that had lived for hundreds of thousands of years could simply lose its seeds suddenly.

The pressure he felt, coupled with the chaotic elements outside, made it impossible even for a legendary being to reach this place.

For her to know so much, it couldn’t be just through the seawater conveying messages.

The first to suffer must have been some deep-sea magical beast demigod, who then transmitted the seed to the outside world.

This Crystal Flower seemed to want to maintain a lovely image in front of Hill, but unfortunately, Hill wasn’t naive.

He sighed inwardly: this one seems less competent than Melanie, perhaps because of long-term isolation.

Hill instantly understood: those who ate the seeds and awakened as Water Sorcerers were probably no different from puppets.

Though they acted on their own thoughts, they had long been controlled by these so-called seeds.

When their own thoughts conflicted with what the Crystal Flower wanted to do, those thoughts would likely disappear naturally.

With Hill’s shallow understanding of this plant, new Crystal Flowers could only be propagated through cuttings—they couldn’t force seeds to emerge no matter what.

The Crystal Flower treated Hill rather well.

These so-called seeds were akin to her avatars. Even though the children born of these possessed sorcerers indeed carried a trace of her bloodline, it was almost impossible for them to awaken it.

But after becoming Water Sorcerers, their children were more easily favored by the Water Law, though most became Water Mages. The few who didn’t actually had little to do with her seeds.

She herself hadn’t expected any offspring to emerge.

The flower branches of the Crystal Flower danced joyfully, finally offering a pile of Water Materials, all at the legendary level or above.

”These items were collected from this trench over the years. They’re not very useful, but they’re quite beautiful. Take them for your amusement.”

Hill moved and collected all these items into his ring, no wonder the trench outside was so quiet, not even an anemone.

When Hill’s finger lifted, the Crystal Flower Ring gleamed, catching the Crystal Flower’s attention: ”You made something out of Crystal Flower? Not bad. It seems that while you didn’t know your bloodline, you were quite familiar with the Crystal Flower!”

The flower branch spun around once, presenting a bloom ten centimeters in diameter: ”Pick it! I originally intended to let this one turn into a seed, but you can play with it first.”

Hill shook his head: ”I can’t preserve it for long; I can’t make anything with it right now, just watch it disappear, too wasteful. How should I address you?”

”Yunifrola.” The Crystal Flower withdrew her branch. ”Is the little Crystal Flower in your hand still alive?”

”Alive; I only used its flower,” Hill said slowly. ”I am a Nature Warlock; unless it’s an emergency, I won’t easily harm magical plants.”

She dug out a small shell again: ”The things here are very useful for the growth of Crystal Flowers. Take it and use it! If you need something older, come to me. Aside from my main flower, you can take everything else.”

Hill knew magical plants had no concept of kin; she only cared if Hill could use that Crystal Flower or not.

”Thank you very much.” Hill said sincerely, ”Is there anything I can do for you?”

”No need.” The Crystal Flower laughed happily, her branches trembling. ”I can’t keep sending seeds out; too often and the World Will would punish me.”

Hill pondered for a moment, then sat on the ground and began crafting a music box using some high-level materials.

To make something long-lasting in seawater, even materials from the deep sea had to be at the legendary level or above.

Hill didn’t know if this legendary-level music box could last a million years, but it should certainly last tens of thousands of years.

Hill felt the curious gaze of the Crystal Flower, so once it was done, he gave it to her.

She indeed knew how to use it.

The flower branch directly wound the spring.

Hill then swam to the top of the cave and broke off several large crystals, asked the Crystal Flower for a branch, and made her a crystal piano.

One of her branches, divided into hundreds of filaments, was tougher than the alloy wires Hill had used before.

Hill spent a long time refining these threads with top-grade water materials until they were completely stable and wouldn’t dissolve into water.

Once the piano was finished, Hill unceremoniously put away the leftover materials.

The Crystal Flower had been listening to the music box for a long time, waiting patiently for Hill to finish.

As soon as she got the piano, she enthusiastically started playing it with her flower branch.
