Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 484: Chapter 282 Preparing for a Long Journey of Fran

Hill spent three days to build a semicircular Greek-style Temple near the mouth of the valley by the river. The temple was entirely white except for the light blue wave patterns adorning its roof, leaving space for two auxiliary temples on each side.

The rear wall was pressed against the mountainside, and Hill had placed the back hall directly within the mountain, allowing entry to the valley through a tunnel at the back.

List could send puppets into the interior of the Temple to take care of it.

The forehall, supported by one hundred and eight pillars, was engraved with all sorts of marine creatures on each pillar.

Ascending the twenty-meter-high steps and entering the forehall, there was a circular shallow pool. Walking around the pool, one would see the Statue of Agleya, carved by Hill himself, erected on the divine throne at the rear of the Temple.

Agleya had almost immediately brought the statue to life with her divine power as soon as Hill had raised it.

Blue waves appeared at her feet, with cyclones of storms swirling around her.

The area around the Statue was constantly shifting through various weather phenomena such as wind, rain, thunder, snow, frost, and hail.

This was Agleya at sixteen.

Her water-blue hair flowed freely, and her long dress of the same color was adorned with pearls and gemstones. On her head was a crown inset with twelve large aquamarines. The large, elegant, and pure gemstone at the center of the crown was perfect enough to be described as the heart of the ocean.

Agleya was extremely pleased and stepped down from the Statue, ”I want to turn this crown into a divine artifact of the land! I love it so much! It’s so beautiful!”

”I got this from the Turtle Demigod,” Hill said blandly, ”At his place, this wasn’t even the most precious kind.”

Agleya slightly tilted her head, dressed exactly like the Statue, her beautiful face revealing a hint of coldness, ”In the future, the most precious things in the ocean will belong only to me!”

”I’m waiting for Agleya to bring out the most perfect aquamarines,” Hill couldn’t help but laugh, ”and then to craft an even more perfect crown for your Main Temple.”

”That old turtle wasn’t the one who resisted the most fiercely,” Agleya said indifferently, ”He seemed to plan on staying back to see which way the wind was blowing. If I were to win a decisive victory, he would probably surrender immediately.”

”My relationship with them is probably that of good trading partners, both very satisfied with what the other had paid,” Hill laughed carelessly, ”If possible, spare the life of that Turtle Demigod called Bex. The others don’t matter to me.”

”I know,” Agleya laughed nonchalantly, ”Why didn’t Uncle Hill put a trident and an Exquisite Sphere for me?”

”That’s for you to make yourself,” Hill sighed helplessly, ”How could someone else make something that guards the Temple?”

Agleya pursed her lips, sneakily glancing at Hill, ”But I want a trident made by Dad Hill! I saw it!”

Hill touched his forehead in exasperation as Agleya sneakily looked on, ”I’ve ordered List to put it on the shell bed for you to play with. It was just for practice. When I can make a Demi-God Artifact trident, I will definitely give you one.”

”Good~” Agleya immediately smiled happily. All the tridents made by Dad Hill belonged to Agleya and she wouldn’t let anyone else have them.

List sent a dozen puppets to tend to the Temple. Agleya glanced at them, her bare hand flicked lightly, and the puppets were imbued with divine power, ”This way, they won’t be harmed. The power of the Ocean God is corrosive.”

Hill nodded in understanding, as the power of seawater was much stronger in this world.

”Agleya! Connect the water element over here!” Hill remembered that the fountain at the entrance had not been connected to the adjacent river, and even the clear shallow pool just inside the Temple entrance had not been linked to the fountain in the valley at the back, which held the Holy Water.

Agleya cheerfully consented, and huge fountains quickly gushed dozens of meters high in the Temple’s front plaza.

Aside from the few specific white marble paths, the other light grey flagstone paths on the plaza all lay submerged in 5 centimeters of shallow water.

This was Agleya’s wish; she didn’t want the Undead Tribe setting up stalls in front of her Temple.

Just visiting was fine, however.

Looking at the Holy Water flowing out of the Temple entrance, Agleya planned to offer it to each pious worshiper who came on pilgrimage, thus the Holy Water had become very diluted by the time it reached there.

It could only restore a common person’s health and ward off some evil forces.

”If truly devout believers appear, just have the puppets bring more out from behind,” Agleya smiled in satisfaction. ”Something the Undead Tribe went through so much trouble to obtain can’t be given away casually.

Ah! Time’s up. The World Will only allows me to appear in my own Temple once every thirty days, and I can only stay for one hour, not to mention I can’t use much divine power. How annoying!”

Agleya dissipated with dissatisfaction in her heart, ”Dad Hill! I’ll work hard! Dad Hill will surely be able to help me build the Main Temple soon!”

Hill nodded with a smile, ”Of course, Agleya is so powerful! I will prepare the blueprints. But Agleya, you must build the Main Temple with your own divine power.”

Hill heard a sigh full of regret from the Statue and left the Temple with a smile.

The Undead Tribe had already rushed over to see the brand-new Temple.

Some even wanted to walk directly into the interior of the Temple, but they were unfortunately stopped by a blue glow outside.

Without being a believer of the Sea God or granted permission by the Sea God, it was impossible to enter the Temple of the Goddess of the Sea.

Hill ignored the members of the Undead Tribe who wanted to reach out and connect with him emotionally and flew straight back to the Magic Tower.

He left behind a chorus of sighs.

For these members of the Undead Tribe, it was truly desirable to foster good relations with Hill, especially when seeing families that had known him since his low-rank days now thriving, particularly the Black Rose Family, which had received the most benefits from Hill.

Unfortunately, ever since becoming legendary, Hill rarely appeared among the Undead Tribe.

Hill had read some of their forum analyses, which suggested that due to the publication of ”Hill’s Biography,” Hill was worried about the Undead digging up more of his secrets, which was why he didn’t want to acquaint himself with more members of the Undead Tribe.

Hill looked on expressionlessly, as if it had nothing to do with him. His interest in the Undead Tribe had diminished simply because his own survival was now secured.

When he was low-ranked, even before becoming legendary, Hill had always been concerned about his own survival. At that time, he had to carefully weigh his relationships with the Undead Tribe to ensure his continued existence.

He understood that even if he died and William completely banned those members of the Undead Tribe, it would be meaningless to Hill.

Now that Saral had become so powerful and yet so few mages joined, a significant reason for this was their relationship with the Undead Tribe.

They were truly the type to kill over the slightest disagreements.

And the high-level mages, lofty from years of superiority, could easily clash with the Undead Tribe.

The few legendary mages of Saral didn’t dare let their students interact with the Undead Tribe. If they couldn’t stay in the Magic Tower, they had to be placed where there weren’t so many members of the Undead Tribe.

Fortunately, due to Saral almost being a newbie village, apart from the liveliness of the Royal Capital, the Undead Tribe still preferred to stay in their own city strongholds.

Hill did not intend to abandon the friendly relations he had established with the Undead Tribe, but he no longer needed more contact than that.

What he was more concerned about now was the sudden appearance of Fran.

Seeing Fran already sitting in his study, Hill greeted him and then asked anxiously, ”Grandfather, is there something wrong?”

”I plan to seclude myself for ten years to prepare some things that I can take beyond the starry sky,” Fran soothed Hill, ”You should understand that except for potions and tools made using laws, other things simply cannot be brought to use in other worlds.”

Hill nodded, otherwise he wouldn’t have given Fran an Alchemy Magic Tower made from a conch shell.

Magical beasts’ talented spells naturally belonged to the laws.

”This world no longer needs my concern,” Fran said with a smile tinged with a hint of relief: ”I can get ready to step into the starry sky.

I’m giving myself ten years. I hope Adrian can find his own path within this decade.”

Hill had long anticipated this day, but still felt slightly unprepared when it actually arrived.

Looking at Hill who appeared lost, Fran sighed and said, ”There are still ten years to go, and maybe by then, you’ll also be ready to leave.”

Hill shook his head, ”Don’t worry about me, Grandfather. I’ve been mentally prepared for a while, but it still feels a bit unsettling when the time comes.

I won’t leave so soon. Even if Uncle Adrian hasn’t become legendary in ten years, by the time I leave, he definitely will have.”

Hill suddenly thought of something: ”Grandfather, are you satisfied with any of the students Uncle Adrian has taken in?”

”Although they’re not as good as you, they’re already quite impressive,” Fran said with a pleased smile. ”Among those students, some only study potion-making, some only study artifacts, but there are also two who study everything and are quite good at it.

Even if no one else becomes legendary, at the very least, the school of thought won’t lose its legacy, and that’s sufficient.

If Adrian doesn’t become legendary, I might have been worried, but now, of course, there’s no such problem.

Hill, I’ve been wanting to leave for a long time.”

Hill kept his sighs to himself, knowing that Fran had long desired to explore the outside world.

He was different from those with Legendary Laws; they wanted to leave to find a safe route before the world collapsed.

Fran simply wanted to see what Alchemy was like in other worlds.

If it weren’t for the acute conflicts this world faced, making Fran feel the need to stay and help, he would have undoubtedly left already.

Neither Adrian nor Hill could make Fran hesitate and worry, let alone keep him here.

After a moment of thought, Hill said directly to Fran, ”Grandfather, take a look at what’s in my warehouse! If there’s anything you need, just take it.

Whether it’s Earth or Water Element, I will have only better things in the future.”

Hill was still relearning the Metal System and couldn’t yet use the laws to directly transform metal ores. But as for Earth Element ores, if Hill didn’t have them, it probably meant the world’s stock was too low and he hadn’t yet analyzed their precise composition.
