Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 489: Chapter 287 Agleya Always Has a Cunning Plan

When Hill returned to the Magic Tower, Srei was taken aback.

His sudden return must be for something significant.

When he appeared to greet Hill, his face was tense, for he feared that Hill had been injured and returned to recover.

Upon learning that it was simply a matter of running out of money and food, he immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

He also understood that the more important reason might be the lack of food, which was simple enough; the food storage was preserved, it was just that without Hill, nothing had been prepared.

If they didn’t want the animals on the farm to suddenly turn into magical beasts, these livestock had to be slaughtered within a year.

If outside, these magical beasts would mostly transform into low-rank magical beasts with little intelligence, growing larger in size but gaining nothing else; within this valley, however, there was only a very small chance of turning into low-rank magical beasts.

Hill had insisted on raising these carnivorous animals because those raised in the valley were truly delicious, tender, and fragrant; Hill really couldn’t give them up.

Hill handed over the ring equipped by magisters to Srei, instructing him to finalize the price with the current shop core and to just put it on the shelves directly.

Then he directly entered the ingredients storage, allowing the intelligent puppet to come out and cook.

He needed to store more, considering if he wasn’t coming back for a long time, those things would just be left there for nothing.

When Hill returned to the study, Agleya popped out.

With a birthplace and a temple nearby, she could easily summon Divine Power here. With just a bit of effort, she could condense an ethereal human form.

Of course, this was also because Hill’s domain, by default, granted the Little Sea God all permissions, allowing her free entry and exit even from the Magic Tower.

The Sun God and Silvermoon had entered so easily in the past because of Hill’s painting.

It was practically an invitation to the two deities.

But the two deities also used a considerable amount of Divine Power; otherwise, they wouldn’t have created a Semi-Divine Artifact Painting upon their departure.

For deities, the Divine Power expended to enter the world was completely lost.

”Hill’s Dad!” Agleya was drawn to the ring Hill was wearing, sensing the presence of Water Divine Power that didn’t belong to her.

Hill raised his hand to show her, ”It’s a Divine Artifact from another world, quite interesting. Agleya could do it, right?”

”It’s the pure power of ice and snow!” Agleya observed the ring with curiosity for a while.

For a Chief God of Water, she almost instantaneously understood the capabilities of the ring.

However, Agleya was somewhat displeased, ”Hill’s Dad! In other worlds, the authority of the Water Law has been divided! I’m not willing to accept that.”

Hill laughed, ”Then strive to become even more powerful, letting those newborn deities become your Lesser Gods instead of sharing authority with you.”

Agleya answered sternly, ”I will definitely accomplish this! Now I understand why you didn’t want me to delay reaching maturity for the sake of sea monsters!

If a Water God with similar abilities to mine appeared during this period, it would be difficult for me to win!

Luckily, I actively joined the war to annihilate the Dwarves, and the World Will compensated for much of my loss.

As for the remaining sea monsters, I won’t chase them to the death. I’ll leave them for the Undead Tribe to play with slowly!”

Hill laughed happily; he was concerned that Agleya’s competitive spirit was too strong, insisting on thoroughly exterminating the disobedient sea monsters.

But there were too many sea monsters, and their progeny was endless.

Sea monsters cannot be exterminated, unless Agleya exterminates a certain species in the sea, killing even ordinary animals.

But if she did that, Agleya might instantly become part of the Evil Faction.

Genocide, unless it’s the will of the people and the World Will has passed a judgment order, labeling the others as enemies of the whole world, even the most hated enemy cannot be lightly dealt with.

Agleya frowned at the ring on Hill’s hand. Although it was a nice thing, she still felt it was an eyesore.

She glanced left and right, then, while Hill was not paying attention, she touched the ring with her finger.

The ring instantly flashed with a deep blue glow.

”Agleya!” Hill looked furiously at the Divine Power forming that godly body completely dissipating, with Agleya’s Divine Soul running straight back to the Starry Sky Divine Kingdom.

Hill immediately took the small Ice Crystal: ”Agleya!”

”Ah! Mr. Hill! I was just...”

”I know she’s nearby, it doesn’t matter if she says she’s not,” Hill said coldly, starting a detailed critique and moral instruction on Agleya’s actions.

In the past, Hill served as a civil engineer under the nation-building department, having lost count of how many times he attended mobilization meetings and listened to countless work summaries!

He had been roped into making public statements on stage more than once.

Agleya, go ahead and try not to listen to him!

When Hill’s lengthy discourse came to a halt, it was very quiet across the small Ice Crystal.

”Agleya! Are you still there?” Hill asked bluntly with a small smile.

”Here... here! I definitely won’t dare to do it again! Hill’s Dad!” Agleya, who was pretending not to be there, had already forgotten her earlier words and responded directly.

”Ah! Main God! You just told me to say I wasn’t here,” Xerthis said softly at the side.

Agleya whispered apprehensively, ”I’m worried, what if Hill’s Dad thinks I didn’t hear him and says it again next time? How scary! It’s the first time I’ve found Hill’s Dad to be too talkative!”

Hill let out a cold laugh, and the connection was instantly cut off on the other side.

Agleya was probably bewildered.

Since coming to this world, Hill had never talked so much all at once!

He took out a cold juice and took a fierce sip, realizing that no matter how good one’s physique is, talking too much still makes your throat hurt.

Looking at Srei, who appeared timidly with a questioning look, Hill reckoned he probably didn’t want to say anything for a while.

”Sir, this is the price list I’ve set,” Srei quickly had a puppet pass over a stack of papers.

”So many...”

”They’re all rings with the largest capacities, and even though they’re stored in boxes, it’s still a substantial quantity. I know you want to sell them quickly, sir, so I’ve priced them according to the market rates.

Otherwise, rings personally made by Master Fran would have to be marked up by 20%.

But considering the large quantity, if we want to sell at a higher price, we can’t release them all at once.

What do you think, sir? Is this okay, or does it need any changes?” Srei responded with utter honesty.

”Just sell them according to your plan,” Hill rested his chin on his hand, ”I need to rest. Come find me when they’re all sold.”

Compared to List, Srei was much more serious. Although he also knew a lot and showed great respect to Hill, his words and actions all conveyed a sense of distance, the feeling of a subordinate.

Despite a lively tone and a close manner, the distance was very clear to anyone sensitive enough to notice.

Hill knew this was a formality he couldn’t get used to anymore after becoming accustomed to List. However, this was the deep-rooted restraint of a typical Magic Tower core.

A Mage doesn’t need the core to care about them, only to obey the rules and do their jobs.

Those who could break free from this restraint were Tower Spirits aged over ten thousand years, who had seen enough and gained sufficient power from the Magic Tower to shed their bonds.

Therefore, Magic Towers over ten thousand years were terrifying, as they could directly retaliate against those without proper authority trying to force their way in.

As for List, it was because the World Will had given too much.

Each time Hill received a reward from the World Will in the valley, his Magic Tower also gained a lot.

Having developed its own consciousness early on, Hill knew he had to keep it close by.

Srei wouldn’t feel lonely, but List definitely would.

This kind of loneliness could drive List to madness from discomfort.

So even giving up a Magic Tower that had surpassed the Legendary rank wouldn’t feel like a loss to him.

But compared to creating another new Tower Spirit, both Hill and List preferred to help Srei with his promotion, even though it would cost much more resources.

Srei understood this and felt very grateful. For a Tower Spirit, it was an extraordinary opportunity. In this Magic Tower, there was no need to wait ten thousand years.

His conduct became even more respectful.

Hill glanced at the ring on his hand; Agleya had simply infused her Divine Power into it.

Thus, compared to the original Ring of Winter, Hill’s ring now included an additional Water Spell.

Hill suspected that Agleya hadn’t given it much thought and merely wanted to showcase her strength offhand.

Using that spell, Hill reckoned he would be hunted down in any world! ”Summoning an ocean to completely submerge the enemy” — what kind of nonsense was that?

Did she mean to turn every place into a vast ocean?

Hill suspected that if he ever did that even once, he would surely be branded as an enemy, and then all worlds would refuse his entry.

However, the ring now felt less cold; the Ring of Winter had become much gentler.

It now looked like an ordinary Water Relic, making it hard for anyone to associate it with the Ring of Winter.

Actually, this wasn’t bad, as Hill didn’t have to find a way to conceal it himself. Even if he went to the ring’s original world, there would probably be no problems.

Hill shook his head and went back to bed to rest. Thankfully, the ice spells of the Ring of Winter hadn’t been altered, so it seemed that although Agleya was reckless, she still had some sense.

As Hill lay on the bed thinking about other famous Sea Gods from different worlds, he was filled with patience and affection for his own little daughter.

What’s wrong with a bit of strong jealousy or high possessiveness?

It’s just a little girl being a bit willful — that’s nothing!

They are trivial matters; a scolding would suffice.

If she turned out like that sea-weedy mess, Hill wouldn’t even be able to cry.

After a good sleep, Hill got up and remembered that he hadn’t relayed the mineral information to Fran.

He had planned to mention it before leaving, but was genuinely afraid Fran might feel neglected and would repeat it over and over, holding his ear, so in his hurry, he forgot.

Hill summoned Srei, instructed him to convey the message to Fran, and also to ask William whether he wanted to buy any Legendary weapons or armor, as there might be better ones available.
