Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 479: Chapter 277: Coronation! Merkel and Alice’s Road to Kingship

Merkel dashed around the mountain range like a silly deer, sprinting at high speed for a long time.

It was almost as if he wanted to trample all the emerald butterflies in the mountains, but unfortunately, it was in vain.

Of course, that was how Hill saw it.

From the gentle gaze of Alice, perhaps what she saw was a heroic warrior?

This girl really had a knack for it—Hill had watched many movies but had never seen such tender and affectionate expressions.

Hill pursed his lips and took out a small box to give to Alice, ”I think, maybe it’s time for a wedding gift for you? Alice.”

Hill found out for the first time that cats could blush.

The white fur was a bit too transparent and couldn’t hide the shy blush on Alice’s face.

”Hill... Hill, I... okay... thank you, Hill.” Alice stammered.

Hill sighed, it seemed they had already set a wedding date.

The item he gave Alice was not a powerful weapon but something to enhance the effects of Alice’s spells and to alert her to any hostility.

As a Spirit of Nature, Alice was hard to deceive or ambush.

But the biggest weakness of a Spirit of Nature was that once they trusted someone, even if nature warned them of danger, they would always trust that person, believing the hostility was aimed at someone else.

Those Spirits of Nature who were skinned and boned in history, weren’t they betrayed by the people they trusted most? But even with so many examples, Spirits of Nature still made this mistake.

So many benign deities would end up divorcing their wives—Hill wouldn’t always trust a king’s love.

Even though Merkel was sincere at the moment.

Therefore, inside that box, there was a type of small claw chain that Alice loved most. On the surface, it was attached with defensive magic, but the most crucial part was that if Alice was gravely injured, she would be transported directly to Hill’s Magic Tower.

Hill believed that even if he wasn’t there, List would protect her.

And Agleya was there too!

When the sun was nearly overhead, Merkel finally calmed down.

He sat quietly washing his face, of course, using his paws.

Then he suddenly remembered something, leaped up on all fours, and looked around.

Alice meowed softly a few times; the large ears of the black leopard moved, and his eyes turned toward her.

Hill stood stiffly, resolutely not going to meet them with Alice.

The leopard didn’t foolishly wait but quickly ran over.

Hill noticed that despite his huge body, there was hardly any sound when he ran.

Merkel’s Law of the Earth indeed leaned toward gravity and speed.

”Alice!” the black leopard’s deep voice was filled with excitement, ”I really haven’t forgotten you! And I will never forget in the future!”

Alice sat gracefully on the gunwale, her voice tinged with laughter, ”I’ve always believed in Merkel!”

”So! Can you marry me now? My Queen!” The leopard was straightforward, fearlessly facing Hill’s murderous glare.

Hill could only silently watch his silly cat, excitedly meowing in agreement.

He looked again and noticed that Merkel was planning to use his head to push Alice toward another side of the mountain range that he hadn’t spoiled yet.

There, his subjects were waiting for the demigod Merkel to return and claim his throne.

”Have you prepared the crowns?” Hill couldn’t help asking.

”What’s that?” Two pairs of puzzled eyes turned to Hill.

”The Beast King doesn’t wear a crown?” Hill asked in surprise, ”But I remember the Silver Wolf King wore one!”

Even in his wolf form, he was adorned with a circlet!

The Silvermoon Gem on it was large and beautiful; Hill was quite envious.

Looking at the two pairs of dumbfounded cat eyes before him, Hill sighed and said to the black leopard, ”I was originally planning to give this as a gift when you were officially crowned, but I guess I’ll give it to you early!”

Hill pulled out a pair of circlets and a pair of crowns.

Although he didn’t know if the two of them would ever use human forms, Hill had still prepared a pair of crowns commonly used by the Human Kingdom.

Normally, the circlets would suffice.

For the black leopard, Hill prepared a crown and circlet in teal gold, set with blue cat’s eye stones.

For Alice, he prepared a crown and circlet woven from mithril and gold, set with purple cat’s eye diamonds.

Although the materials were much more expensive than the ones for Merkel, Hill considered that Alice should bear less weight.

Of course, that’s what he told himself when he made them.

Since Merkel’s awakening as a demigod, the color of his eyes had turned deep purple, only becoming a light purple when he was happy.

The unique cat’s eye diamond, a find from Hill’s exploration of a colorful diamond mine underground, had never appeared in this world before.

The light purple mixed with the deep purple of his pupils, deep and mysterious.

Hill had scoured that mine and found only nine.

He used the largest two for Alice’s crowns.

Merkel’s large eyes watched as Hill took out the crowns, and he immediately nudged both his head and the head of Alice, who was on it, to the edge of the Cloud Ship.

Hill gently placed the circlets on their heads.

The cyan-gold circlet automatically enlarged to fit snugly on Merkel’s head, the blue cat’s eye stone resting on his forehead.

The two blue gradient cat’s eye stones that Hill had specially chosen to match Alice’s eyes were indeed beautiful.

And the purple diamond on Alice’s forehead was even more stunning, sparkling enchantingly in the sunlight.

Hill handed the crowns to Alice, instructing her to keep them safe, ”I’ll be watching from afar. I’m not suited to take part in the establishment of the Beast Kingdom.”

Alice leaned forward and licked Hill’s cheek, ”I know, thank you, Hill. I really love you. I’m so happy to have your blessing at my wedding!”

Merkel suddenly took off, rushing into the distance with Alice.

The originally moved Hill stiffly lowered his hand that had intended to touch Alice, revealing a hideous cold smile, ”Foolish leopard! Don’t come to me for a solution to the Emerald Butterfly!”

The crowning ceremony of the Beast Kingdom was simple and rough.

Surrounded by all their subjects, Merkel stood with Alice on the highest mountain of their territory, howling to the sky.

After their voices echoed throughout the land, the howling of their subjects also blended into this chorus.

Hill silently wished them a smooth journey.

He only hoped that Merkel would keep his original promise to Alice and would not easily harm humans, let alone attack the Human Kingdom for any benefits.

But Hill knew that as long as the Undead Tribe was still active, Merkel wouldn’t be foolish enough to lay a hand on humans.

Although he always acted foolish in front of Hill, Merkel was actually quite cunning.

Before he eloped with Alice, he had also behaved very steadily.

Hill should have known, a feline animal could never maintain calm for long, the guilty son-in-law acted well because he was nervous.

Now that he had secured his wife, knowing the father-in-law could disapprove but not separate them, the leopard relentlessly let himself go.

Hill discovered something interesting, the timing Merkel chose for his coronation was at the sunniest and most intense time of the day, the exact opposite of the Silver Wolf.

One at noon, the other at moonrise.

The more Hill knew, the more he could understand why Merkel’s ancient ancestor, dead for so many years, would still get angry at the mere sensation of the Silver Wolf.

To make a group of Great Earth Beasts change their routine and faith to follow the Silver Wolf in moon worship, if it wasn’t for the Wolf King’s strength, he would have been killed long ago, and it wouldn’t have come down to the spring water causing trouble and creating a big mess.

Hill waved to Alice, who was looking over, signaling her to go and do what she needed to do as queen.

He smiled and bid Alice farewell.

Then, he steered the Cloud Ship and left directly.

Alice had completely become someone else’s now.

As the queen of the Beast Kingdom, she could no longer freely enter the domain of Saral openly.

Even visiting Hill’s valley would be difficult for her.

Hill knew that he also would not hope for Alice to suddenly appear in his Magic Tower.

A faint sadness sang in the depths of Hill’s heart.

Surrounded by the Natural Consciousness, he found solace.

Hill could only be grateful that Agleya was unlikely to have a day of marriage, at most she might grow up curious enough to keep a pretty boy.

Hill’s Cloud Ship flew above the clouds, no longer worried about anyone obstructing his path.

Yet, of those beings who once could threaten him, not a single one dared to strike.

Even as Hill crossed directly through the airspace of various Human Kingdoms, there was no one to stop him.

He returned to his valley smoothly.

Then stood dumbfounded as he watched a grand battle among the elements unfold in the valley.

Two Earth Elemental Lords, standing taller than the valley itself, were grabbing the Wind Elemental, Kais.

All other Wind Elementals besides Kais were already held in the massive hands of some Elemental Overlords.

Wiltedly watching their Clan Leader get disciplined.

In the valley, a group of Undead whistled and cheered loudly.

Hill, with a headache, recalled that List had indeed mentioned that the Earth Elemental Lords wanted Kais to provoke them, but Hill had never expected it to escalate to this extent.

Seeing the Cloud Ship, Kais cried and rushed over.

Hill, with a steely face, ordered List, who appeared on deck, to send the Undead away.

The Undead who saw that Hill was angry had already fled.

They did not want to lose the opportunity to find magical beast friends just to watch a spectacle.

”Hill! You’re back! They are all bullying me!” Kais cried out.

Hill ignored him, and seeing that the Wind Elementals were not really hurt, it was clear that the two Earth Elemental Lords still had some judgement.

Even the Wood Elemental Lord and the Water Elemental Lord were standing by, cheering on, mostly staying in the Elemental Realm, but Korenden coming down to seize him, what exactly had Kais done to anger everyone so greatly?

Hill couldn’t help but inquire with the approaching lords.

”Just leaving as he pleases! Doesn’t care if there are other elements in line! Relying on his speed and small size, he scuttles without so much as a warning!” Korenden said angrily, ”He wants to become a lord, but before that, he needs a good beating!”
