Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 472: Chapter 270: The Appearance of the First Abyssal Gate

The Undead Tribe, having played a mutually assured destruction game with the Dwarves, did not feel saddened.

Amidst the wide-eyed, speechless gazes of the spectators on the King’s Ship, they laughed loudly as they ran from the cabin to the deck and swiftly lept off.

Hill estimated that the experience of these Dwarf self-destructs was enough for them to die two more times, so all these Knight Swordsmen felt they had made a profit.

They weren’t afraid of a bit of pain from death, unless it was for nothing.

The self-destruction of the Shield Warriors had shattered the passage to dust.

On the thick mountain, the Divine Array had lost its effect.

The Mages of the Undead Tribe were already tearing down the walls.

Hill sighed, in the eyes of the Evil God, his subjects were indeed property to be slaughtered at any time in the sheepfold, although not without value, they would be sacrificed for more important interests at any time.

Such a powerful Divine Array lost its effectiveness not because of the ferocious attack of the Undead Tribe, but because of the self-destruction of tens of thousands of Golden Dwarves.

There were probably not even 200,000 Dwarves in the entire nation.

Losing one-quarter of that number all at once, and to their own hands no less, even those Golden Dwarves who were still alive could no longer fully trust the Dwarf King.

For the Dwarf King, endowed with Guardian Divinity, his Divine Power would instantly evaporate by more than half.

The number of these Golden Dwarves must have been carefully calculated, for just a few more deaths and the throne of divinity for the Dwarf King would fall.

As the Undead Mages burst into madness, the mountain directly in the front was completely blown into fragments, and dust filled the air.

The King’s Ship of William suddenly rose sharply.

Commanders of the Undead Tribe were desperately shouting to retreat.

The Mages drew back as well, soaring directly upward.

Hill’s fingers moved slightly, and the high platforms affected by the Forest Array instantly rose with four tall stone walls.

The smarter Knights and Swordsmen, like dumplings being dropped in a pot, leapt into it.

The Priestesses’ sharp curses echoed through the heavens.

In just a few seconds, the entire mountain began to shake violently.

Huge boulders rolled down, crashing onto the area below, and the Undead Tribe members below screamed as they dodged.

For them, having missed the battle up front, if they were to be so unlucky as to be crushed by falling rocks, the battle would be a loss.

So they cursed while they dodged.

Boulders tumbled, and smoke blurred the air; both the earth and the mountains trembled.

What was originally a shockingly tragic scene, amidst the bizarre curses of the Undead Tribe, turned into something incredibly comical.

Cursing the Dwarves often ended up causing conflicts among the Undead Tribe themselves.

Cursing others is forever their custom, isn’t it?

And during their evasion, the injuries caused by conflict amongst themselves likely far exceeded the casualties caused by the falling stones.

Hill saw William stepping out of the cabin.

Spencer was also directing the King’s Guard to lead those Nobles ranked below Grand Knights into the cabin for shelter.

These people simply wanted to show off their bravery. To garner some prestige in front of the King, they weren’t truly keen on fighting valiantly, so they all obeyed and went inside.

The convulsion that resembled the World split apart lasted for quite some time, but aside from the rows of unlucky Undead on the King’s Ship, it caused no harm to humans.

Therefore, everyone was quite interested in watching the massive steel beast that suddenly leapt out of the volcano’s mouth.

It was a starship shaped like a furnace.

Humans found it strange and many uttered exclamations of ’how odd it looked.’ But upon realizing it was the Dwarves’ creation, they could somewhat understand. Perhaps for them, living in a furnace represented the happiest life.

No matter what the people below were saying, Hill turned a deaf ear; these people had no idea how much damage this broken furnace had done to the world.

The moment Hill saw the furnace, he felt a profound sense of disgust.

That was the deep loathing the World Rules felt for a thief from within.

The Dwarves had used this Furnace Artifact through the volcano mouth, the closest to the world’s center, to absorb the Heartfire of the Earth for hundreds of thousands of years.

There are many Fire Element Mages and Magical Beasts in this world, but the reason why there had never been a Law God of the Fire Element had finally surfaced.

William had no intention of doing anything to the furnace that flew up; he simply dropped a Divine Shield.

The Giant Shield grew larger and larger until it covered the entire mouth of the volcano.

Hill couldn’t help but lean on the ship’s railing to have a closer look. It was clearly not a Divine Artifact from the gods of this world, giving him a peculiar sensation.

He touched the Supreme God Talisman hanging at his waist, and Hill felt he might know where this Divine Artifact came from.

The annihilation of the Gray Dwarves, combined with spatial rifts... hmm, he should look into what happened on the day the God of Smithing fell completely.

Hill widened his eyes as he watched the volcano, which had been repressed by something overhead for tens of thousands of years, erupting furiously after finally being freed.

The intense stench of sulfur and the malicious aura of evil let him know why William had insisted on bringing the Undead here.

The Dwarf Kingdom was never without an Abyssal Gate.

The sudden, complete turn of the Golden Dwarves towards evil certainly had a reason.

The world’s first Abyssal Gate was probably right beneath this volcano.

The Dwarves were the main culprits that drew the Demons’ attention to this broken world; it probably didn’t take them long to find a way to contact the Abyss after their arrival.

However, Hill frowned slightly, surely contacting Moradin was more reliable than reaching out to the Abyss, right?

”The Gray Dwarves must be eradicated, and this is the reason,” William said with a cold laugh to the Legendary Mage and Magician standing behind him, ”The Elven God King, in order to completely dissuade humans from pursuing him, has leaked a lot of information.

The most important bit is this: the reason the Dwarves despise the Gray Dwarves so much is that, in their attempt to return to the Abyss, they betrayed all the other Dwarves.

Moreover, the one they contacted was an enemy of Radug.

But I do believe that the Gray Dwarf King didn’t contact the wrong entity. It’s just that not all Gray Dwarves worship Radug, do they!”

William couldn’t help but laugh, ”I wonder if that Dwarf Queen likes to tie her hair in a big braid?

That fool of a Gray Dwarf King probably landed in the domain of another Gray Dwarven deity, right?

While the deity might respect Radug, they definitely wouldn’t have any affection for Radug’s other children.”

William didn’t intend to say much more. Radug, from another world, couldn’t hear others calling him, but the deity right above might.

After all, if it was the deity in person, they wouldn’t have had to personally deal with Hill themselves.

But at this time, it’s better not to cause trouble; first, they should send this furnace beyond the World Membrane.

Looking up, William wondered if the fight had already started outside.

Why is it so quiet?

”Is this Abyssal Gate impossible to close?” Spencer didn’t pay attention to the furnace flying towards the heavens; he was well aware that it was no longer related to humans.

But a great number of Demons were surging out with the erupting magma below, and although they were suppressed by William’s Divine Shield, the ever-increasing stench of sulfur warned the panicked people in the sky that there were more and more Demons.

”Aren’t the Undead managing quite well?” William smiled, ”It’ll be over soon. The Dwarves want to leave, but they have to spit out what they swallowed first.

Besides, I don’t think they can leave that easily.”

The Undead on the King’s Ship began to jump down.

As the magma was blocked by William, they were lively and hopping about once again.

Upon discovering the imminent new enemy, the Undead were elated, unlike the bitter-faced natives on the King’s Ship.

The Demons here were obviously not the phantoms found in instances; these had military exploits to earn!

Although the standard equipment that could be exchanged for achievement points in instances was not bad, most people preferred the varied equipment, tools, and titles of nobility that could be exchanged for world military exploits, such as those needed to build cities.

Hill, with sharp ears, had already heard them loudly counting their treasures, listing the things they desired.

The Undead began to diligently repair the wall they had just half demolished and then endeavored to build it higher.

Although William’s Divine Shield was firm, it was clear it wouldn’t block forever; the incessantly spawning Demons would have to be let out eventually.

The Undead had no intention to make the place too sturdy and even created many passages that led directly to the outside.

Hill noticed that the leaders of the various family alliances had already gathered to discuss the control of the passages.

The Scattered Ones were unconcerned, not caring in the least but diligently worked on the wall.

Even if they had to pay a price later to enter and hunt monsters, they were willing.

After all, the reason they had joined no family was precisely that they didn’t want to be constrained.

While being in a family meant first dibs on many things, it also meant being bound.

Just like with these passages, the Scattered Ones could fight whenever they wanted, while the families capable of control had to arrange sufficient members to guard them ceaselessly day and night.

Hill watched as a bag suddenly materialized before him and he reached out to open it directly.

The power of the Sun God was always such a conspicuous presence.

But what was inside this bag was more in line with the style of another Goddess.

Hill looked closely at the seeds brimming with the power of fire inside the bag, examining them with care.

The path of the Goddess of Agriculture was indeed very different from his own.

Hill preferred to let nature take its course, while the Goddess of Agriculture was more like a plant breeder.

She had combined the Flame Flower and Sunflower.

This must be this world’s hybridization technique, though achieved through Divine Power.

Moreover, the attributes of these seeds were very stable; Hill kept a few for himself and then flew up, swirling around the volcano to scatter the seeds.

This was too easy for Hill, making holes, dropping seeds, and then covering them with a bit of soil; he could do a thousand at the same time.

The only nuisance was the Undead; Hill simply flicked away one curious individual who was digging at the seeds on the ground.

”It’s just a kind of Sunflower seed that can be planted on volcanoes; I’ll assign the rest as a task to you all,” Hill said calmly, ”No digging on the ground!”

More than one of the Undead sighed, but there were still those who looked eagerly on the move.
