Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 465: Chapter 263: The Respectful Half-Elf Delegation

Hill had spent several days on the task, managing to create a prototype on his first try, and it ranked among the top amongst legendary treasures.

Finally, he had enough confidence.

After resting for a day and restoring his mental sea to perfect condition, Hill decided to strike while the iron was hot and finally took out the millennium crystal flower from his pendant.

The beautiful crystal flower, the moment it was taken out from the purest seawater, was directly crystallized under Hill’s control of spiritual power.

Crystalline, translucent, and delicately white.

The suppression by spiritual power had only one chance; if it wasn’t used within three days, this beautiful blossom would turn into water and disappear from this world.

Hill glanced at the prototype he had already created.

He was probably the first person in this world to craft armor from a crystal flower.

Previously, crystal flowers could only be used to make potions, and they had the highest failure rate among them.

Even Adrian, before becoming a legend, didn’t dare to craft them, as the demands on spiritual power were too high.

Hill placed dozens of the top water materials on the table, meditated in silence for ten minutes, and then started working.

Sheer water series demigods artifacts were extremely draining on spiritual power.

Water was too mutable, and even the same material could have parts that were completely unusable.

Hill could only examine them bit by bit, even though he had checked them countless times before.

Water materials could likely change a bit after just an hour.

And Hill could absolutely not afford to make any mistakes.

These days were likely some of his most difficult moments.

Hill had hidden himself away again.

Upon seeing his cloud ship disappear into the sea of clouds, William happily asked Adrian at the morning meeting, ”Hill, what is he planning to do this time? Any good news?”

Adrian, who had also been tossed a newly copied magic book by Hill, looked at the king helplessly, ”Your Majesty, did we strike it big this time? Hill is researching his demigod artifact and has no mood to deal with those who have already escaped.”

”I just want to know, will Agleya be aware of all this?” William asked curiously, his face full of innocence as if he wasn’t the one who spoke her name within Agleya’s defensive range.

”Beside Hill, there’s a divine artifact that allows him to contact His Majesty the Sea God at any time,” Adrian said without blinking, ”and if Agleya wishes, she can know everything about Hill’s affairs.”

”Ah! Hill is truly fortunate, carrying a beautiful maid with him, unlike me, who has a...” William didn’t complete his sentence, his face changed, and he disappeared from the Lord’s Mansion in an instant.

Adrian glanced at Spencer, who was smiling wryly, sure that the king, known for his loose tongue, had probably gone off to get scolded.

He also felt a chill down his spine; Agleya must be listening!

Sometimes, William really acted just like those undead tribesmen he had summoned.

Just then, William’s Captain of the Guard hurried in.

Because he often had to deal with disputes between the undead and the local mages and nobles, his normally radiant face had almost turned into a sallow melon.

”Is His Majesty not here?” he looked around, ”The Half-Elf Delegation is here again, they plan to reschedule their meeting with His Majesty.”

William reappeared instantly, with a look of sheer relief, ”Ah, my dear captain, I am truly glad you are here! Thank you for bringing me such good news!”

”Can someone else handle the public security?” the captain said without even lifting his eyelids.

”The capable should take on more responsibilities!” William maintained his joyful expression but cruelly said the most brutal words, ”I will double and redouble your salary!”

The Captain of the Guard, showing no emotion, listened to his king, who exploited the innocent, and nodded slightly, ”I hope His Majesty won’t make me so rich I can’t spend it all.”

Watching the Captain of the Guard, who was usually respectful and obedient towards William, now ready to retort at any moment, Adrian couldn’t help but shiver.

Fortunately, he was only a collaborator, not a loyal subordinate!

This king, he valued his favored subordinates a bit too much.

The hall was now filled with the Great Nobility; ever since the Teleportation Array was activated, many had come over from Saral.

Although they were not necessarily useful, they at least showed their support for His Majesty.

It meant holding large morning meetings every few days, although not official court gatherings, but still, they had to provide these nobles with a chance to showcase themselves.

Unfortunately, even if they envied the captain’s favored status, no one was willing to take over his job.

Even if it meant always carrying a divine artifact bestowed by His Majesty.

What it required was not formidable martial power, but a strong will.

And the absolute logic not to lose one’s judgment among the peculiar logic of the undead.

Having witnessed a day of the Captain of the Guard’s daily work, most people still realized that life was more important than a divine artifact.

And those foolish enough to think that possessing a divine artifact made them invincible could not enter this hall.

”My captain is great, isn’t he?” William sat on the throne, happily watching the captain who was turning to go out to meet the Half-Elf Delegation, ”In the future, my Divine Kingdom won’t worry about running out of people to use! Unfortunately, for now, I can’t find many who are on par with him.”

William glanced at Adrian, ”I am not as lucky as Agleya, who right after establishing her Divine Kingdom, had a group of demigod Moon Elves following her. I’m truly jealous!”

”Agleya wouldn’t mind if the later Moon Elves were taken away by other deities,” Adrian said unapologetically, ”The next batch also consists of demigods. If His Majesty likes, he can take them away at any time.”

He had long heard about this from Hill. The first batch of Moon Elves were indeed needed by Agleya, and the second batch was no problem either. The birth of Moon Elves couldn’t be that fast—it might take a thousand years before there was a second batch.

But thousands of years later, Agleya would summon her devout followers to ascend to the Divine Kingdom.

Her Divine Kingdom, after receiving several batches of Moon Elves, should be about saturated; after all, even gods who do not require faith have their saints.

The more powerful one becomes, needing no faith, the more followers one tends to accumulate.

Although it was unclear why Hill had estimated that Agleya would come of age in a thousand years, Agrian certainly didn’t mind helping them alleviate some population issues now.

William, however, seemed genuinely interested, ”Didn’t Hill plan to have all the Moon Elves follow Agleya?”

”There are many Moon Elves,” Adrian couldn’t help saying, ”In human terms, they are born over lengthy intervals, but to a deity, a thousand years is but the blink of an eye, isn’t it?”

William laughed, ”Then I’ll also recruit a batch when the time comes.”

Seeing the somewhat puzzled Adrian, William stretched lazily, ”The Moon Elves raised by Hill are at least orderly and good, so that’s enough for me.

I don’t plan to summon people I’ve never met to my Divine Kingdom.”

So did that mean to become one of William’s saints, one could only strive for it while he was still on the continent?

Adrian saw many people sitting in the hall, all looking a bit disappointed.

These great nobles, did they indeed plan for their descendants to ascend to the Divine Kingdom with William?

Indeed, a noble’s desires never included the words ’self-control.’

However, in Adrian’s view, the current William, apart from Spencer, was only slightly interested in the unfortunate Captain of the Guard.

Both were very good at their jobs.

Spencer’s loyalty to William was such that he certainly wouldn’t mind an endless future of overtime, and Adrian truly wondered whether the Guard Captain would choose eternal rest over continuing to work.

Without further discussion, Adrian stood up and, along with Spencer, went out to welcome the delegation from the Lord’s Mansion; the Half-Elf delegation had arrived quite swiftly.

This time, the Half-Elf Delegation was very respectful.

Much unlike their haywire behavior last time, as if they weren’t the same people.

William did not trouble them, directly deciding on a meeting three days later.

The Half-Elf Queen even sent word that she could do it tomorrow, but sadly, William had no interest in showing that sort of urgent longing for peace.

Watching the delegation swiftly say their farewells and even backtracking to the doorway before turning to leave, William couldn’t help laughing, ”It turns out they do know how to show respect for a future deity!”

”The rules of the Noble Temple are all modeled after the elves. Of course, they know,” Holmes suddenly appeared in the hall, picking up where William left off.

”Prince Holmes!” the nobles in the hall all stood up respectfully to greet him.

When Adrian, returning after sending off the Half-Elf Delegation, almost jumped in surprise.

Then, only after the group had shown their respect to Holmes, did he slowly walk back to his place and sit down, feeling somewhat inclined to get back to work.

”I don’t have anything else,” Holmes said indifferently, ”Just that I might have to take control of a new Law these days, let the other mages take care of things for a while.”

William was startled for a few seconds, then promptly congratulated the legend joyfully.

Although it was uncertain which Law the legend that controlled corruption laws might be linked to, for Saral, this was indeed a good thing.

If it was only for a few days, Carl and Miller wouldn’t have any issues. They were both usually also stationed in the rear of the High-level Magic Tower.

For them, spending every day in meditation was the most enjoyable kind of day, lately completely uninvolved with anything else.

Lately, Carl and Miller were incredibly well-behaved, especially Carl, who even had no plans to let his descendants come along.

He, like Miller, had only brought his most talented students.

Feeling once again that there was a path forward, even a legend couldn’t control the excitement of imminent change.

After saying all he wanted to say, Holmes simply vanished without greeting anyone.

Adrian, observing the disappointed faces, was a bit puzzled.

Holmes indeed had some influence over William, but surely it wasn’t so extensive as to speak or act on behalf of others?

He glanced at Spencer, hoping for some hint.

”They want to send their children with Mage Aptitude to the Magic Tower here,” Belter interjected directly, ”but sadly, Master Holmes will only accept children from the Saral Family.

”Aren’t there His Highness Carl and His Highness Miller?” Adrian couldn’t help asking. ”Those two usually wouldn’t refuse requests from the Great Nobility.”

”For nobles, why settle for less when you can have the best?” Belter said with a smile, ”Unfortunately, only Saral is the exception.”

Although William had indeed killed many members of the Saral Royal Family, the status of the Saral Family had become even higher than before!

Adrian sighed inwardly; otherwise, Belter wouldn’t dare speak like this in front of so many of the Great Nobility.

Adrian left cheerfully; he hoped there would be fewer of these morning meetings, or better yet, that they would stop inviting him.

Three days passed quickly.

Since this official meeting was still within the controlled area of Central City, William called upon a group of Undead women attendants.

Although the Saral People knew these beautiful women could easily eliminate half of the people here, it was still pleasing to the eye.

It was just unknown whether the Half-Elves were aware of this.
