Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

”There’s a bear!”

”Hmm.”

Li Younan casually turned off the volume of the radio broadcast that was previously linked to the residential area.

The crisis of the snow avalanche had passed, so there was no need to keep listening to the broadcast all the time.

”Middle school math... Is it difficult to learn?”

Li Younan focused his attention on the math tutorial material in front of Liu Li.

Liu Li somewhat embarrassedly lowered her head, but slowly let go of her hand covering the book, ”To be honest, it’s quite difficult.”

”That’s normal, after all, you haven’t studied for quite a long time.”

Li Younan knew very well that the brain is adaptive; when you continually engage in a targeted complex task, it forms conditioned reflexes and inertia. The related memory regions become activated, making them increasingly agile and strong.

Conversely, if you don’t engage in such a complex task for a long time, the corresponding area’s function will deteriorate.

Liu Li dropped out of middle school and didn’t even have a middle school diploma. In some sense, her education level now is equivalent to elementary school.

Many people think middle school knowledge is simple enough, but only by relearning it do they realize things aren’t that simple.

Liu Li found it somewhat strenuous to study.

But Li Younan also understood that feeling strained at this moment doesn’t mean she’s stupid.

Li Younan moved closer to take a look.

In terms of learning, even without a systematic advantage, Li Younan had enough authority to speak.

Back in the day, he was the top scorer in the county’s college entrance examination, and his ranking was even in the top hundred in the province.

Even though years have passed, and some knowledge points might have been forgotten, and some problem-solving techniques become rusty, the biggest difference between a top student and an average student in a small town has never been the ability to memorize knowledge points.

Especially in math.

Before quitting his job, Li Younan was an engineer, a job that required strong logic. His thinking and logical abilities did not degrade but rather became stronger.

For learning math, the knowledge points that truly need memorization are much fewer than in physics or biology.

What’s more important is sensitivity to mathematical patterns and reasoning ability.

That’s why, during his student days, Li Younan particularly enjoyed studying math.

The core of learning math is... constructing your own knowledge structure.

It’s not about memorizing tables of contents or mind maps, but truly reasoning out a knowledge framework bit by bit.

Li Younan just flipped through the basic theorems at the beginning, and the long-dormant area in his brain was activated once again.

The basic theorems are like a foundation, and the properties, characteristics, and key knowledge points above them are like building a house, quickly reconstructing in his mind.

The things that math requires learning... are actually just so few.

Li Younan smiled slightly, looking at the problem Liu Li was struggling with, not only realizing at a glance where her mistake was but also understanding immediately where her chain of thought had gone wrong.

”The formula for polynomial multiplication is something that runs through the entire middle school math syllabus.”

Li Younan directly sat down next to Liu Li.

”This problem requires Vieta’s formulas to solve, but your grasp of Vieta’s formulas is not solid. To put it simply, you’ve only memorized the formula, but not understood how it came about, without a clear line of thinking, so when the problem changes shape slightly, you find the Vieta’s formulas won’t fit.”

”It’s like building a house; Vieta’s formulas are the roof of this house. You’ve memorized the shape of the roof by rote.”

”The problems you encounter, the problem statement is like telling you certain structures of the house, such as what the beams are like, what the pillars are like, and asking you how to build this roof.”

”You’ve only memorized the shape of the roof, but if the house changes the shape of the beams or adds some pillars, the ready-made roof won’t work.”

Li Younan tried to explain in the most intuitive and specific way possible to make Liu Li understand. Liu Li nodded thoughtfully, ”So what should I do?”

Li Younan patiently said, ”Start from the beginning, from the foundation, solidify it bit by bit, and understand how the whole house is built.”

”To truly master Vieta’s formulas, it’s actually quite simple, middle school knowledge isn’t much, I’ll go through it with you, and at the same time, we’ll check if you’ve grasped each basic theorem well.”

”First is algebraic operations, this is the most basic foundation, and it’s also the simplest. Let me see if you’ve truly grasped it...”

Li Younan painstakingly broke down complex knowledge into simple theorems layer by layer, initially testing with questions, and if it was confirmed that Liu Li still had a superficial grasp of the material, he would patiently explain it to her.

”The second layer is the concept of equations and roots... This is also a kind of smaller roof knowledge. We need to use this method to deduce and understand clearly, but it is somewhat simpler than Vieta’s formulas...”

”Great! You’ve fully mastered the first two layers, now on to the third layer, quadratic equations... This is a reasoning tool, which can be seen as the method of building a house...”

Li Younan explained in great detail, while Liu Li, who was initially worried about being too stupid or having a weak foundation and feared being disliked, heard most often from Li Younan...

”Still not quite clear? Hmm, no big deal, it’s not your problem, it might be that I haven’t explained clearly enough, let’s go over it again, I’ll explain it a bit clearer.”

Really patient.

Liu Li recalled the attitude of her tutoring teacher in middle school; if a knowledge point wasn’t understood after two or three explanations, the teacher would definitely get angry.
