Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

The desolate mountains were void of human presence, with vegetation covering as far as the eye could see.

As the altitude climbed, it became increasingly difficult for vegetation to grow into towering trees, but here the situation was a bit more complex.

Bomi is known as the Jiangnan of Tibet, where the altitude is relatively lower compared to other highland areas.

On the other hand, a more significant reason is the warm and humid airflow from the Indian Ocean that penetrates deep along the Yarlung Zangbo River Gorge, bringing abundant rainfall. Meanwhile, the region’s melting glacier water is plentiful, forming a unique high-altitude humid climate.

Therefore, the vegetation here is extremely dense, and when the vegetation becomes dense, various kinds of rare and precious plants also thrive among them.

Yuan Ke is a renowned botanist in the country and the academic leader of several plant research projects.

This trip yielded rich results, including the world-recognized endangered natural anti-cancer plant, the yew tree, and the national second-class protected plant, the solitary orchid.

However, this journey also had some regrets.

While climbing a ridge, through binoculars, he discovered a plant resembling a Bomi slipper orchid, but it didn’t quite match the species he had seen before... it seemed to be a completely new variety that had never been discovered.

If it could be verified, it would have immense scientific value.

On one hand, it could add to the list of discovered rare plant species; on the other hand, it provided valuable research insights into the recent climate changes brought about by glacier melting and plant growth mutations.

Of course, the deeper value is also abundant, but the more this is the case, the more regrettable it becomes.

As he approached, he realized it was a high ground, surrounded on three sides by cliffs.

Either climb up from another place and then backtrack down, or find a way to scale the cliffs dozens of meters high.

Both methods were too difficult for a researcher like him.

As a researcher, he certainly couldn’t come here alone.

Yuan Ke also had a local guide, who was a forestry bureau staff member of the area.

However, within just two days of their trip, the guide caught a cold and fever and was now resting at the camp.

He had to cajole the guide for quite a while before he was allowed to act independently for a while.

At this point, coming out of the glacial valley, there were two directions to choose from: one was back to his camp to find the guide and return.

But his gaze was fixed in another direction...

Huh, someone?

...

Encountering a living person in such a remote wilderness is a very reassuring thing, making one feel that even the desolate wilderness has human traces.

This was the experience for both Yuan Ke and Liu Li; naturally, for Li Younan, this part of the sense of security wasn’t as pronounced.

Because even walking all the way here felt much like strolling in his own garden.

The person was a middle-aged man wearing glasses, appearing quite scholarly. He seemed to exercise regularly, as he wasn’t frail, roughly in his 40s, past his physical peak but still giving off a vibrant impression.

When the man mentioned he was a plant researcher, Li Younan thought perhaps because he often traveled around, so he differed somewhat from those who stayed in laboratories.

Yuan Ke’s gaze then landed on the owl with Li Younan and Liu Li.

Unlike Li Younan and Liu Li, Tuantuan instantly tensed up upon seeing Yuan Ke, its feathers fluffing up to make itself look like a puffball, eyeing Yuan Ke warily before getting a gentle knock on the head from Li Younan.

Instantly, the owl lost its temper and turned away in a huff.

Witnessing this, Yuan Ke was dumbfounded.

A moment later, he asked, ”Is... is this a spotted owl?”

”Hmm, do you research this type of bird as well?”

”Hehe, many fields in our circle are interconnected; I also know several well-known zoologists in the country.”

Yuan Ke carefully observed, noticing the owl’s wing had a very evident fracture, but the splint fixing was extremely professional, surprising him as someone who occasionally participated in wildlife rescue.

It’s known that without regularly performing such wildlife rescues, it’s impossible for ordinary people to have such adept skills, especially since different wildlife, like birds or felines, require greatly varied techniques.

What he didn’t know was that due to Li Younan’s slaughtering skill, it gave him a deep understanding of the anatomical structure of any animal. For slaughtering, he’s the best butcher, but equally, if it comes to rescuing these animals, he’s also an excellent veterinarian.

If necessary, based on his plant knowledge, some medicinal plants could easily be found in the wild. With a little effort, he could become a truly professional veterinarian.

Yuan Ke’s attention naturally remained on the owl, but Liu Li, seeing him continuously looking at his owl, became apprehensive and explained, ”We... we found this injured owl.”

Yuan Ke was slightly surprised, glanced at Liu Li, and understanding his concern, he burst out laughing, saying, ”Don’t worry, don’t worry, I haven’t misunderstood.”
