Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 448: Chapter 352: The Uninvited Guest

Kang Xin’s response left the reporters somewhat dumbfounded.

Who doesn’t know what a strict director Kang Xin is?

Previously, during the shooting of ”Heart Inquiry,” there were reports that Su Yan had a gloomy face and even cried on set due to Kang Xin’s rigorous demands.

And yet, such a demanding and high-standard director was incessantly praising Zhou Yun?

Cheering someone is one thing, but willingly praising an actor outright in a way that other directors desire to collaborate is a statement that word-smiths certainly understand its implications.

It means that Kang Xin truly admires Zhou Yun from the bottom of his heart and is willing to support her.

A common thought emerged spontaneously among the reporters present: How good was Zhou Yun’s performance in ”Heart Inquiry” to make Kang Xin so unusually complimentary towards her?

As Li Ci and Gu Huaichun successively made their appearances, the atmosphere on the red carpet reached its peak.

They naturally had only words of praise for Zhou Yun.

The reporters suddenly realized something was off.

True, celebrities in the entertainment circle generally support each other—I praise you, you praise me, and it looks good all around.

But the praises today were not just mere casual compliments.

Each was pointed and meaningful, not merely polite chatter.

They could sense a very strong signal; these people genuinely admired Zhou Yun and praised her.

The reporters looked at the guest list, all who were supposed to appear had appeared, and next, it should be Song Chi or perhaps Song Chi along with Zhou Yun, Wen Bing, and Yao Yuanfeng making their entrance.

It was all about how they would appear.

The main show was about to start, and the reporters were all poised and watching the end of the red carpet.

A black limousine slowly drove up.

The car door opened.

A foot clad in high heels stepped out.

It was a woman.

Was it Zhou Yun?

Cameras were all aimed in that direction, ready to capture the first moment Zhou Yun stepped out of the car.

A woman in a sea-blue sequined tulle dress bent down to exit the car, walked out, lifted her head, flipped her long hair, curled the corners of her mouth, and with a bright smile, waved at the audience outside the red carpet.

From the audience, someone shouted, ”Yaoyao, I love you!”

The woman who emerged onto the red carpet was none other than Xu Siyao, who had a very unpleasant past with Zhou Yun.

She was neither listed in the guest list nor expected by anyone.

Even the media reporters were momentarily stunned.

Flashlights blinked twice, then as if waking from a dream, they started to take photos.

Xu Siyao slowly walked up the red carpet, greeted everyone with a bright smile, and then headed towards the interview area.

...

At this moment, backstage was in complete chaos.

”How did Xu Siyao get up there? Where is the person in charge of the red carpet?” The person responsible for the regular activities was from New Shield, and he was very aware that Xu Siyao was a blacklisted participant for tonight’s event; the moment he saw Xu Siyao walking on the red carpet, he almost heard Yao Yuanfeng roaring in his ear and slamming the table, calling him a pig-brain.

Who doesn’t know that Xu Siyao is the last person Zhou Yun wants to see?

But since she was already on the red carpet, chasing who let her up there now would be pointless. He immediately picked up the walkie-talkie and informed the person in charge inside, ”Get to the entrance immediately, keep an eye on Xu Siyao. If she can’t produce an invitation, she’s not allowed in!”

The person in charge inside was shocked by the orders and asked, ”Then, if we don’t let her in, we just leave her outside? There are quite a few people taking pictures out there.”

If it really becomes known that Xu Siyao was barred at the door today, this incident would surely overshadow all the headlines from the premiere of ”Life.”

Such an event cannot occur.

So, the event organizer made a decisive decision and said, ”Get someone to lead her in, and once out of media’s sight, drive her away.”

”Drive, drive her away?” The person in charge of the inner field was even more shocked, ”She is Xu Siyao, are we really going to drive her away?”

”She came uninvited, why should we let her participate? If you let her into the inner field today, don’t bother coming to work tomorrow!” the event organizer furiously shouted.

Having heard the scolding, the inner field manager had nothing else to say but to execute the order.

...

Xu Siyao stood in the media interview area, smiling as she took interviews.

”There have been rumors that you and Zhou Yun don’t get along, does your participation today mean that those rumors were false?”

Xu Siyao responded, ”Actually, my relationship with Sister Xiao Yun has always been good. Some incidents happened that made fans think there was a conflict between Xiao Yun and me, but it was all a misunderstanding.”

”Was it Zhou Yun who invited you to this premiere today?”

Xu Siyao responded with a beaming smile, ”This premiere is Sister Xiao Yun’s first movie premiere, and moreover, this movie helped her win the Best Actress at the Horizons Unit of the Venice International Film Festival. Of course, I had to come support Sister Xiao Yun! Everyone, please support her movie too!”

...

Already sitting in the car, ready to go on the red carpet, Zhou Yun asked why the car was not moving, and the driver, begrudgingly touching his nose, told her the truth.

For a moment, Zhou Yun didn’t catch on, as if someone had brought a pair of gongs right in front of her and struck them with a deafening sound.

Zhou Yun was dumbfounded.

Xu Siyao’s actions took her completely by surprise.

”So, what’s going on here?” she turned to ask Song Chi.

Song Chi spread his hands and said, ”If I’m not mistaken, it seems like you’ve been forcefully imposed upon.”

Zhou Yun widened her eyes, finally feeling a touch of reality, her voice sharply rising, ”Is she crazy?”

Song Chi grabbed Zhou Yun’s hand, saying, ”Don’t rush.”

”This is too... shameless, isn’t it? Who invited her?” Zhou Yun distinctly remembered, she made it very clear Xu Siyao and Yu Sitian should not show up on this red carpet.

The driver said, ”Miss Zhou, it has been confirmed that no one sent her an invitation. She barged in on her own.”

Zhou Yun didn’t know what to say for a long while.

Barging onto the red carpet... only Xu Siyao could do such a thing!

”I’m impressed, really impressed by the thickness of someone’s face,” Zhou Yun felt as if someone poured a bucket of cold water on her good mood.

Song Chi said, ”Don’t let her affect your mood.”

The driver also said, ”Don’t worry, she won’t be able to enter the inner field.”

Zhou Yun asked in surprise, ”She can’t enter the inner field?”

”They’ve already informed the people at the inner field to stop her from entering,” the driver said, ”President Yao also knows about this situation, he has already... Miss Zhou, my colleague just gave me the news, she has been taken away.”

The car in front had already stopped while director Wen Bing got out of the car and stood at the entrance waiting for her.

The driver started the car and slowly drove over.

Someone opened the door from outside.

Song Chi said to Zhou Yun, ”Today is your main stage, don’t let unexpected guests spoil your spirit.”

Zhou Yun showed a slight smile, saying, ”It won’t.”

Song Chi pinched the center of Zhou Yun’s palm, then finally got out of the car, replaced the person at the door, and carefully placed his hand on top of the car door.

A tsunami-like scream and cheering came from ahead.

The heels of Zhou Yun’s shoes today were ten centimeters high; she had to carefully stabilize herself to be able to stretch her upper body out and stand upright.

Song Chi took her hand.

This was their first time holding hands formally at an event.

The moment they held hands, the screaming intensified as if to tear the sky apart.
