Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 405: Chapter 322: Twists and Turns (Part 5)

Zhou Lan said, ”Then he agreed.”

Zhou Yun curled her lips, ”He cursed so impotently. Let’s just sign the contract with Yu Zhiyang.”

Zhou Lan said, ”The electronic version of the contract has already been sent to Zhang Linlin for them to review.”

Zhou Yun nodded, ”I’d like Sister Wen Xi, Sister Ning Yao, and Director Kang Xin to receive a small gift from me with a card I’ve written, I’ll trouble Sister Lan to prepare them.”

Zhou Lan nodded.

She asked, ”What about He Yong? This time we really didn’t give him any face.”

Zhou Yun said, ”Let him be. He owes me too much, this time it’s far from enough for him to repay.”

Zhou Lan laughed, ”I understand. I’ll convey these words to him. I reckon once he hears them, he won’t be angry with you anymore.”

Zhou Yun said, ”I don’t care if he’s angry. I have no expectations from him.”

”Don’t be too sharp,” Zhou Lan reminded her.

”What angers me is that they got together behind my back and opposed me in unison today,” Zhou Yun said. ”They all knew about Yu Zhiyang’s situation, how much he needed this opportunity, and how determined I was to choose him. Yet they still colluded for their own selfish interests. At least, I thought Zheng Xiaowen would understand my thinking and support me.”

Zhou Lan sighed softly and said, ”Everyone has their own interests to defend, and it’s understandable that Zheng Xiaowen didn’t want to take the greater risk with Yu Zhiyang.”

”Greater risk?” Zhou Yun shook her head, ”If that was really her concern, she should not have suddenly stood with He Yong to oppose me today. Is it because she doesn’t have my contact information, or she couldn’t reach me? It’s just a group of people who had agreed privately, thinking that if they could unify their stance, I would not dare to defy them.”

Zhou Lan said, ”Your attitude today was indeed very firm.”

Zhou Yun said, ”Sister Lan, when I was being suppressed by Wei Ru Xue, I had also hoped someone would lend me a hand.”

Zhou Lan was taken aback.

She remembered those past events, recalling some human weaknesses she too once had.

”I always remind myself, not to forget the past.”

Zhou Lan exhaled softly.

”Yu Zhiyang may not know how much you’ve done for him.”

”I don’t need him to know. I did it because if I didn’t, I would regret it later.”

Zhou Lan said, ”Xiao Yun, sometimes, being a bit selfish and cold-hearted can make life easier for you.”

”But everyone has moments of reflection in the middle of the night. Only those who can sleep with a clear conscience can wake up with a smile,” Zhou Yun said with pursed lips and a smile. ”Song Chi once took me to see a sunrise; it’s the feeling of watching the sunrise with a smile that I want.”

The matter with Yu Zhiyang took a dramatic turn.

Zhou Yun settled a concern and joined the cast of ”Warm Little Horse.”

As a leading contender for next year’s box office champion, this film had top-notch investment and crew in the industry.

On the day she joined, Shen Yao made a special trip to book a restaurant to welcome her.

Although the movie had many actors, since it was a road film, aside from Shen Yao, the other actors did not overlap in shooting time.

Dinner was just with Shen Yao and Director Wan Zhiliang.

Shen Yao pulled out a chair for Zhou Yun, very gentlemanly.

He laughed and said, ”If I had known that you and that kid Song Chi were dating, I would have invited him to make a cameo.”

Zhou Yun said, ”It’s fine. At the movie’s premiere, Brother Shen, just send him an invitation letter to support me.”

”Hahaha,” Shen Yao said, ”Your invitation will be more effective than mine.”

Zhou Yun shook her head and said, ”I need to be a bit more reserved. Please, Brother Shen, do me this favor.”

Only then did Shen Yao nod and say, ”Alright, I’ll invite him.”

The film had been shooting for some time. As one of the hottest actors in Chinese cinema today, Shen Yao had not left the film set in order to maintain a low profile during shooting.

Midway through dinner, Shen Yao received a phone call, though it was unclear who it was from.

After hanging up, he said, ”Xiao Yun, my wife will come over soon. It’ll be a good opportunity to introduce you two.”

Upon hearing this, Zhou Yun nodded with pleasant surprise and agreed.

Shen Yao’s wife married him early, back before he became famous, and had been with him ever since. Over the years, Shen Yao’s wife had been a wise helping hand, managing the household efficiently and rarely appearing in media. However, Zhou Lan had mentioned to Zhou Yun that Shen Yao’s wife was somewhat jealous by nature. Usually, when Shen Yao was filming outside, she would follow him to the set to take care of his meals and daily life.
