Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 428: Chapter 339: You Chase, I Dodge

Abnormal occurrences always herald something odd.

If Yu Sitian had returned alone, Zhou Yun might still believe that Yu Sitian came back just for work.

But the simultaneous appearance of Yu Sitian and Xu Siyao, especially Xu Siyao claiming she came to visit, is utterly baffling.

What are their motives?

Zhou Yun immediately contacted Zhou Lan.

After hearing this, Zhou Lan wasn’t surprised and chuckled lightly, saying, ”They are both probably here for Wan Zhiliang. He has a new project starting early next year, the information was so tightly sealed yet these two got wind of it.”

”I see, no wonder they both showed up at the film set together,” Zhou Yun asked, ”Is Brother Shen acting in it too?”

Zhou Lan: ”No, Shen Yao has a schedule conflict. I was also aware of this project. On one hand, you were supposed to shoot ’Two Tigers’ at that time, and the schedule simply couldn’t be coordinated. On the other hand, his next film is just a typical commercial comedy with a somewhat trite theme, which I don’t think highly of. It might be a good project for them, but not so much for you.”

Zhou Yun nodded.

Zhou Lan continued: ”Actually, I initially didn’t want you to take part in ’Warm Little Horse’ either. You don’t need to play supporting roles now. But then I thought about it, other than Shen Yao, everyone else is also in supporting roles in this film. Furthermore, the box office for this film will definitely be decent, which is good for you. You’ve received awards now, but your box office pull hasn’t been tested. If ’Life’ doesn’t perform well at the box office, at least ’Warm Little Horse’ can hold up appearances. Honestly, I don’t really have high expectations for the box office of ’Life’, mainly because it’s a romantic film, you are the only main actor, ninety percent of it is a monologue, and its innovative format might not be well-received by the audience, especially with a male lead that only appears as a voice.”

Zhou Yun said, ”It’s going to be released in November, I don’t know if people will like it.”

”Trust me, a lot of people will definitely like it,” Zhou Lan said, ”It’s just that the audience for this kind of art film isn’t large, so the reach will be limited.”

Zhou Yun nodded.

At noon, in the cafeteria.

Zhou Yun and Zheng Xiaojue went to have lunch and surprisingly found Yu Sitian and Xu Siyao there too.

”They still haven’t left?” Zhou Yun asked in astonishment.

Zheng Xiaojue said: ”They both wanted to meet with Director Wan this morning, but he was too busy and didn’t have time, so they stayed.”

Zhou Yun: ”Then let’s keep our distance from them.”

Yu Sitian and Xu Siyao, one arm in arm with Meng Ran and the other with Liu Yuqian, appeared very close like sisters, laughing and chatting without any distraction.

When Liu Yuqian saw Zhou Yun, she wanted to invite her to join them.

Zhou Yun straightforwardly turned her head the other way.

Liu Yuqian’s words stuck in her throat, unable to come out.

Seeing this, Yu Sitian snorted coldly and said: ”Yuqian, why bother with her? Ever since she became a Movie Queen, she thinks she’s too good for us. Why expose yourself to this attitude?”

Liu Yuqian wanted to explain, but seeing Yu Sitian’s manner, she held her tongue.

Yu Sitian’s disdain for Zhou Yun was not really about Zhou Yun herself, but about Song Chi.

As long as Zhou Yun doesn’t break up with Song Chi, Yu Sitian won’t let go of her grudge against Zhou Yun.

Liu Yuqian didn’t want to discuss Zhou Yun with Yu Sitian, as she actually wanted to befriend Zhou Yun.

She quickly changed the subject, asking: ”Sitian, what exactly brought you here today to visit the set?”

Yu Sitian exclaimed, ”Oh, no particular reason, just wanted to see you all, I’ve been quite free lately.”

Liu Yuqian said, ”You and Xu Siyao picked the same day to come, what a coincidence.”

Yu Sitian hummed lightly, ”Who knew she would come today too.”

She and Xu Siyao have been at odds since that red carpet dispute over who should go first. To put it precisely, Yu Sitian’s conflict with Zhou Yun is due to Song Chi, whereas her conflict with Xu Siyao is solely based on Xu Siyao herself.

”A celebrity from web series wanting to sneak into the movie industry here,” Yu Sitian scoffed, showing her disdain, ”All ambition written across her face.”

Liu Yuqian laughed and said: ”The movie industry isn’t easy to break into. So many TV actors are desperate to get in and still can’t, it’s just not the same circle.”
