Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 426: Chapter 337: Public Provocation

Xu Siyao has recently been quite pleased with herself.

Although no dramas she acted in have been aired, her presence is indispensable at various events.

Whether it’s a fashion event or a business dinner, whether it’s a TV station’s evening show or a large-scale joint performance, she always appears splendidly dressed and never absent.

It just so happens that during this period, Zhou Yun is filming within the crew, and all of Chengqian Entertainment’s marketing resources are being lavishly poured onto her alone, creating a big splash and a surge in popularity.

In the span of a month, Xu Siyao has once again come to the forefront of the public, with a straight increase in topicality and discussion heat.

The shadow cast upon her by Zhou Yun’s award a month earlier is gradually dissipating.

Xu Siyao has regained her former confidence: Zhou Yun winning the award was just good luck, if she had Zhou Yun’s luck, she too could win.

It doesn’t matter, with her current popularity, as long as she maintains it well and shoots more dramas, she will definitely become even more famous in the future and be able to compete for awards.

She knows she has good acting skills and can act.

Xu Siyao originally thought to avoid Zhou Yun for a while and to develop on her own, but yesterday, Chen Wenjun revealed a very important piece of news to her.

Wan Zhiliang’s next comedy movie has found its footing.

Once he finishes his current film, ”Warm Little Horse,” his next project will start shooting in March next year.

At present, no details about this project have leaked out, so no actors have been decided.

Upon hearing this, Xu Siyao’s mind lit up.

You see, Zhou Yun playing a supporting actress in ”Warm Little Horse” means if she could play a leading female role in Wan Zhiliang’s new film, the contrast would be strikingly clear.

The difference would be clear-cut.

For this reason, Xu Siyao decided to risk encountering Zhou Yun and went to the set of ”Warm Little Horse” to see Wan Zhiliang.

...

As a road trip comedy film, ”Warm Little Horse” only features one part set in a hair salon, where Zhou Yun is the leading actress. However, there are other parts of the movie, and in another one, Yu Sitian is the leading actress.

In theory, Zhou Yun and Yu Sitian wouldn’t come into contact during the shooting of this film; they would only meet during promotions and roadshows.

Thus, when Zhou Yun suddenly saw Yu Sitian on set, her first reaction was that she had seen wrong.

Why would Yu Sitian be here?

It wasn’t until Zheng Xiaojue said in confusion, ”Why has Yu Sitian come?” that Zhou Yun knew she hadn’t been mistaken; it really was Yu Sitian.

Because of Song Chi and Wei Heyun’s relationship, Zhou Yun formed countless intricate ties with this princess who grew up in the honey pot.

Yu Sitian has a crush on Song Chi, who is her boyfriend.

Wei Heyun has set his heart on Yu Sitian, and to woo her, he even became friends with Zhou Yun.

This inconceivable and bizarre relationship dynamic had always made Zhou Yun have complicated feelings towards Yu Sitian.

And right now, the most pressing question was, why was Yu Sitian here today?

Zhou Yun didn’t approach her directly.

She sent Zheng Xiaojue to gather information and went straight to the rest area.

After a while, Zheng Xiaojue returned.

”Sister Xiao Yun, I found out the details,” said Zheng Xiaojue with an eager look of having achieved something.

Zhou Yun laughed and asked, ”What is she here for?”

”She said she came to visit the set and even brought coffee and milk tea for everyone,” said Zheng Xiaojue.

”Why would she come to visit the set at this time?”

Zheng Xiaojue shook her head and said, ”I don’t know about that; people are probably too embarrassed to ask since she took the initiative to bring food and drinks.”

Zhou Yun nodded, ”That’s true.”

Zheng Xiaojue curiously looked at Zhou Yun and asked, ”Sister Xiao Yun, do you not want to see her?”

Zhou Yun suddenly became flustered.

When did Zheng Xiaojue’s eyes become so sharp?

Zhou Yun denied it, saying, ”No, not at all.”

Zheng Xiaojue actually believed her. She almost always believes Zhou Yun’s words without question and doesn’t doubt her.

Although Zhou Yun didn’t want to meet Yu Sitian, she couldn’t always lock herself in the rest area. She was there to film, so she had to be on set. Hence, Zhou Yun inevitably ended up meeting Yu Sitian.

Both of them locked eyes, neither speaking first.

Wan Zhiliang sensed the subtle atmosphere between the two. The disputes between Zhou Yun and Yu Sitian were well known among insiders, but such things were never brought to the forefront.

”It’s really a pity that we don’t have the opportunity to shoot together in this movie. Otherwise, we could also witness the Movie Queen’s acting,” Yu Sitian was the first to speak.

Zhou Yun smiled and said, ”Although we don’t have scenes together, performing in the same movie counts as cooperation.”

Yu Sitian let out a sigh and said, ”Of course it’s cooperation, but it’s definitely not as satisfying as acting in face-to-face scenes. I also really want to experience the Movie Queen’s splendor in person.”

”What are you talking about, Movie Queen? It’s just luck, you have acted in more films than I have, and have more experience.”

Yu Sitian: ”What’s the use of all that experience if my award-winning luck isn’t as good as yours?”

Zhou Yun laughed and said, ”You are a talented actress; you will definitely win awards in the future.”

Yu Sitian humbly responded: ”Not at all; there is still so much for me to learn.”

”You are being too modest.”

The two exchanged pleasantries while subtly challenging each other.

The people around them listened to their conversation, exchanging looks, somewhat at a loss.

Especially the staff, who were even more unsure how to handle the situation.

Zhou Yun had been filming with the crew for more than a day or two, and throughout these days of collaboration, she had given them a favorable impression.

She never made any unreasonable demands and was low-maintenance—not the kind of demanding actress who, even with her current status, could act out without anyone saying anything.

On the other hand, Zhou Yun got along quite well with the other actors in the group.

There’s no need to mention Shen Yao, and whether it was Liu Yuqian or Meng Ran, Zhou Yun never had a falling out with them, and they could even joke and laugh together on set.

How could someone with such a good temper be at swords’ points with Yu Sitian?

Were they mistaken, or was it really like that?

At times like this, Shen Yao had to step in.

Shen Yao smiled amiably and said, ”You two don’t have to be modest. Both are actresses with great skill. It’s my honor to have invited you to join this film.”

Zhou Yun and Yu Sitian both turned to look at Shen Yao.

Yu Sitian smiled at Shen Yao and asked, ”Brother Shen, do you think my acting is better, or is Zhou Yun’s better?”

She looked at Shen Yao with the determination of a child vying for affection, waiting for him to give his answer.

Even Zhou Yun felt it was a tough spot for Shen Yao—she certainly didn’t want to make him feel so awkward in public.
