Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 250: Chapter 212: Rising Phase: 48

Strictly speaking, tonight’s developments did indeed go off-script.

At least all media’s expectations for tonight revolved around the war between Lew Qingqing and Su Yan, not between Xu Siyao and Yu Sitian.

Xu Siyao threw a wrench in the works ahead of schedule, stirring up the situation.

Now with Lew Qingqing’s sudden announcement of her new boyfriend, she has stolen all the attention.

With Su Yan’s usual style, she would not sit idly by.

It all depends on how Su Yan will respond.

Zhou Yun gave Gu Huaichun a disdainful glance, saying, ”You’re getting more gossipy.”

Gu Huaichun responded, ”Well, I’m free anyway.”

As Gu Huaichun expected, Su Yan certainly did not give up.

How could she let Lew Qingqing steal her thunder?

She walked onto the red carpet, took a few steps, stumbled, and fell.

The entire venue gasped.

She stood up gracefully, showing a somewhat helpless but beautifully captivating smile, and sighed.

The host interviewed her about falling on the red carpet and asked if she was hurt.

On the live broadcast, she said charmingly, ”Not at all, Qingqing and Xiao Yun were smart to bring friends to walk the red carpet. I should’ve brought my boyfriend, too, falling like that was so embarrassing.”

The host’s eyes widened and asked, ”Su Yan, are you in love too?”

Su Yan seemed to just realize and covered her mouth with her hand, her eyes wide in shock.

”I, I’m not, I misspoke, I don’t have a boyfriend.” Saying this, she seemed guilt-ridden and hurriedly left the interview area, heading into the inner field at a brisk pace.

Zhou Yun and Gu Huaichun watched the whole process through the livestream on their phones, speechless and astounded.

Gu Huaichun: ”Zhou Yun, take a lesson.”

Zhou Yun: ”This is too brilliant, I can’t learn it.”

She didn’t need to go online to know the storm this ’Night of New Trends’ would stir up tonight.

As expected, the internet exploded.

One must admit, the public’s attention to celebrities is unavoidable, and controversies always draw extra focus.

”Victor” has never been so closely followed online in these past two years.

In a way, this is also an excellent opportunity for ”Victor” to increase its visibility, although Ren Sumin might not necessarily want this opportunity.

The happenings have kept everyone highly entertained and discussion fervor continues to rise.

No one expected that it was not over yet.

On this red carpet, someone was always ready to make a move.

The initiator of tonight’s media debate, Xu Siyao, was late to appear, almost leading the gossip-hungry crowd to believe she wouldn’t show up.

After all, being notoriously diva-ish, it would have been embarrassing for someone else to appear in her place.

But who would have thought—

When everyone saw Xu Siyao alight from the car with a bright smile, accompanied by Li Ci, waving to them, every media reporter and photographer present thought: Tonight is just too exciting!

Li Ci has been in the industry for many years and seldom walked the red carpet with female artists because he didn’t want to be involved in any scandals.

He debuted as a pop idol and has meticulously controlled his private life, virtually scandal-proof. But today, was the sun rising from the west or what?

The flashes were like twinkling stars, utterly dazzling.

Xu Siyao was like a true princess, elegantly and lively smiling, always walking by Li Ci’s side.

They reached the media area and stood together for a photo op.

Xu Siyao posed for a while and then moved aside to let the media take solo pictures of Li Ci on the red carpet.

She took a couple of steps forward and at that moment, Xu Siyao’s high heel caught on her dress hem, causing her to stumble and fall forward to the ground.

She raised her head, biting her lip, and smiled awkwardly and helplessly at the cameras, her eyes seeking help from Li Ci.

Li Ci stepped forward and extended a hand, helping her up from the ground.

Xu Siyao softly said, ”Thank you.”

Li Ci gave a slight smile, ”Be careful.”

The two acted as if oblivious to the wildly flashing cameras.

Su Min’s face couldn’t turn any darker.

People beside her could feel the gloom emanating from her.

Tonight’s red carpet had not been smooth, but rather like a bungee jump curve.

But Su Min couldn’t afford an outburst now, as the indoor event was about to start, and as tonight’s hostess, she had to end the banquet perfectly.

Though she had worked in fashion as an editor for many years and dealt with domestic celebrities frequently, gathering a group of high-maintenance divas on one red carpet without sufficient authority guaranteed that these mischief-makers would steal all the thunder.

Su Min could imagine, after tonight, ”Victor” magazine’s public image score would plummet.

The chaotic planning of the event, tormented by the celebrities, sent a clear message: as the new editor, she couldn’t control the scene.

Su Min had already noted a few names on her internal blacklist. She couldn’t immediately strike those names out, but after tonight, Su Min had formed an initial impression of the various celebrities.

Particularly Xu Siyao and Yu Sitian. Su Min decided that unless unforeseeable circumstances demanded, she would never again invite them to any ”Victor” magazine events.

Su Min mingled with the guests who had arrived indoors, taking photos and showcasing her efficiency and warmth as the hostess.

As a newcomer, regardless of her real feelings, the necessary pleasantries and social niceties had to be observed.

Especially with the top celebrities she was displeased with, like Su Yan and Lew Qingqing, however irritated she felt, given their status as top actresses, she had to receive them warmly and share bright smiles for photos.

These would later be posted on the official Weibo.

Any event is predictable before it even happens, knowing what the outcome will be unless force majeure occurs. Otherwise, it’s all smiles without a second option.

”Xiao Yun!” Su Min called out affectionately from a meter away, opening her arms wide for a full embrace.

”Thank you, dear, you were fantastic today,” Su Min said.

Zhou Yun, uncomfortable with strangers being so passionate, discreetly extracted herself from Su Min’s hug, saying, ”The arrangement here is beautiful.”

”If you like it, that’s great. I personally supervised the setup,” Su Min said with a smile, ”You’ve got taste.”

”Editor—”

”Just call me Sister Min, let’s not be so formal,” Su Min said, holding Zhou Yun’s hand.
