Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 229: Chapter 193: Rise: 29_2

Zhou Yun immediately sighed, asking, ”Sister Lan, are Su Yan and I incompatible?”

”Don’t be so superstitious,” Zhou Lan gently touched Zhou Yun’s face, ”Get ready to face the challenge head-on. There’s nothing to be afraid of her, right? She’s not Medusa or Hydra.”

”Sister Lan, are you sure?” Zhou Yun asked in return.

Zhou Lan smiled.

”Xiao Yun, ’Geology Talk’ is currently the most suitable show for you. Let’s not give up a great opportunity just because of one annoying person.”

Zhou Yun sighed, nodded, and said, ”Then that’s the only way.”

”Zhou Yun is going to be a regular for four episodes?” Su Yan, upon hearing the news, reacted more intensely than Zhou Yun. She angrily made a direct call to the producer of ’Geology Talk’, saying fiercely, ”Zhang Yan, do you not want me to continue on this show?”

Zhang Yan immediately tried to appease her on the phone, ”How could that be? You are the regular, and she’s just a guest.”

”She’s just a guest who will record four episodes at once!” Su Yan was deeply aggrieved and spoke with a tone of annoyance, ”You clearly know I don’t like her! You clearly know I can’t work with her at all!”

”You just worked with her on a movie, didn’t you?” said Zhang Yan.

”Do you think I wanted to work with her?” Su Yan retorted angrily, ”If there was a way, of course, I wouldn’t want to work with her on the same project. She managed to get into Song Chi’s bed, and you men can’t help yourselves around pretty women. What can I do but swallow this resentment? Forget about Song Chi, Zhang Yan, I thought we were friends, having collaborated for so long. I just signed another twelve-episode contract with you! The company even advised me not to continue this show, do you know how hard it was for me to persuade them otherwise? Would I have done it if it weren’t to support you? Zhang Yan, this is really disappointing!”

Zhang Yan sighed, saying, ”I know, I know, I keep all your efforts in mind. But you also know the situation. Because Zhao Qin got in trouble, we had to change directors last minute, and several previously confirmed guests left. Our show really needs celebrities to retain the audience and to calm the sponsors. Yanyan, you wouldn’t want to see ’Geology Talk’ slowly become a second-rate, ignored show, right?”

Su Yan said, ”Isn’t having me as a female celebrity enough? Why not get a male one?”

”Yanyan, even if you don’t like it, you have to admit, Zhou Yun is currently the hottest artist. Having her on for four episodes will buy us some time to find other artists that match you better,” Zhang Yan said, ”It’s not like we’re making her a regular guest, it’s just four episodes. I know what you’re capable of; you can definitely handle her.”

Su Yan: ”Zhang Yan, don’t forget who your real friend is.”

”How could I possibly forget! Even with her coming for those four episodes, rest assured, you’ll still be the core figure, it won’t change for anyone else!”

”Last time she came, she was the core figure of that episode,” Su Yan brought up past grievances.

Zhang Yan: ”Didn’t I explain to you? That time was because someone pulled strings, I had to honor that person’s request.”

Su Yan snorted, saying, ”She just debuted and already has so many backers behind her.”

Zhou Yun would record ’Geology Talk’ in four different cities.

According to the show’s routine, each episode would take three days to record, totaling twelve days.

The show wouldn’t be recorded continuously; generally, after recording one episode, there would be a few days’ rest before recording the next.

After all, each episode invited several celebrity guests, and it was hard to coordinate everyone’s schedules if recording was consolidated.

Zhou Lan had communicated with the show team and confirmed the recording dates for the four episodes.

By March 19th, the day before Zhou Yun was set to record ’Geology Talk’.

She had already arrived in the city where the recording would take place, meeting Zhao Yan and the show’s new director Gan Bida for a simple dinner at the hotel.

Zhao Yan and Gan Bida were very attentive to her, praising her effusively over dinner.

These days, Zhou Yun had often heard such praise, but no amount was too much.

”With you joining, our ratings for these few episodes will definitely hit new highs!” Zhao Yan said with a smile.

Zhou Yun thought to herself, she really didn’t have such abilities.

She also felt that Zhao Yan’s words were certainly not sincere.

But it was an unspoken agreement, you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours, mutually boosting each other.

”Please help me look good in the shoot,” Zhou Yun smiled, ”I’ve been working too much recently, my routine has been irregular, even my face has gone pale.”

”Where have you!” Zhao Yan immediately opened his eyes wide as if Zhou Yun had said something unbelievable, and said in an exaggerated yet deliberately sincere tone, ”You are unmistakably gorgeous!”

Zhou Yun curiously blinked her eyes, asking, ”But, Brother Zhao, I heard that my joining this show seems to have upset some regular guests?”

Zhao Yan was taken aback, he immediately waved his hand and said, ”How could that be! Everyone is too delighted to have you participate.”

Zhou Yun seemed relieved, saying, ”That’s good then, I was quite surprised when I heard such rumors, not knowing what to do. If my joining makes the existing participants unhappy, then it would be my fault. If it really comes down to it, it’s okay for me not to be on this show, my agent always reminds me to prioritize harmony.”

Zhao Yan and Gan Bida looked at each other and laughed, shaking their heads simultaneously, saying, ”How could it be, there’s absolutely no such thing, who is spreading such rumors behind the scenes? They really have nothing better to do!”
