Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 234: Chapter 197: Rising Phase: 33

The recording of the show cannot continue indefinitely like this; if it drags on, we will exceed the originally scheduled recording time.

Zhang Yan had no choice but to pull Su Yan aside and quietly asked, ”Su Yan, what exactly do you want?”

Su Yan: ”Do things as they should be done. If Zhou Yun wants to re-record, that’s her business. We don’t want to wait for her.”

”It’s because the Prop Team made a mistake that she wants to re-record, it’s not her fault. I’m already grateful that she’s willing to do it, and you are our regular guest star! Can’t you show some understanding for us?” Zhang Yan couldn’t help but raise his voice a bit.

”Have you ever shown any understanding for me? Knowing that I dislike her, you still insist on inviting her as a guest star for four episodes, and even want me to play a supporting role to assist her? Please, Zhang Yan, I am the lead actress of ’Geology Talk’, okay?” Su Yan’s emotions escalated as she spoke.

The surrounding onlookers curiously watched them.

Zhang Yan, wary of the curious looks from the bystanders, had to lower his voice and also signaled Su Yan to quiet down.

”Of course, you are the lead actress, she’s only recording four episodes! Just four episodes, can’t you tolerate a bit?” Zhang Yan stared into Su Yan’s eyes, his voice was low but filled with dominance, ”Because of Zhao Qin, do you know how many sponsors are about to pull out? I need this show to keep going, I need to invite the hottest celebrities to stabilize those sponsors, do you understand?”

”Oh, the hottest celebrity, she is the hottest celebrity,” Su Yan let out a cold laugh.

”You have to admit, in the eyes of the sponsors, she is more valuable than you!” Zhang Yan almost gritted his teeth as he said this, it was as if saying ”Do I really need to spell it out this clearly?” Zhang Yan’s gaze met with Su Yan’s, creating sparks in their glaring contest.

Su Yan retracted the cold smile from her face, no longer willing to even keep that on. She took a deep breath and then calmed down.

”Fine, you’re the producer, you call the shots,” Su Yan shrugged her shoulders, her lips curling like ripples of water, ”After all, I’m just a small celebrity.”

-

Zhou Yun didn’t know whether it was an illusion, but ultimately, when the four groups of celebrity guests gathered to record the ending segment of this episode, the looks from other groups’ celebrity guests towards her were not very friendly.

The group that won first place in this episode was neither her group nor Su Yan’s.

Su Yan stood at her fixed position ’C’, her facial expressions and clapping rhythm revealing a lack of enthusiasm.

When Gan Bida shouted ”cut,” everyone started to organize their belongings in an orderly fashion. Team members from various groups came forward to offer water, mobile phones, and coats. They grouped together and then left.

There’s another day of recording tomorrow. Four episodes in total, each episode in a different city, two days of recording per city, divided into eight broadcasts.

Zheng Xiaojue draped a coat over Zhou Yun.

It is still only March, and the temperature is quite low, with a chilling wind. Zhou Yun was preparing to return to the hotel and said goodbye to Liu Haiyu but sensed his hesitation.

Having interacted with him for a day, Zhou Yun was quite impressed with this veteran who debuted about ten years before her.

What does he want to say?

”Brother Haiyu?” Zhou Yun called out to him.

Liu Haiyu shook his head, saying, ”It’s nothing, see you tomorrow.”

Zhou Yun smiled and nodded.

The two went to their respective cars, finished for the day, and headed back to the hotel.

Liu Haiyu got into his car, looked back at Zhou Yun getting into hers, and let out a sigh.

”I sent you an address, go there.”

-

Liu Haiyu pushed open the door and walked into the private room.

The room was filled with several familiar figures.

”Why is Brother Haiyu so late?” Wei Chen got up and hugged Liu Haiyu, saying, ”We’ve already had a round of drinks.”

Liu Haiyu sat down smoothly, ”There was a car accident on the road, it was blocked.”

”Car accident? What bad luck,” Wei Chen handed a glass of wine to Liu Haiyu, ”Have a drink, to dispel the bad luck.”

Liu Haiyu took the glass and clinked it with Wei Chen.

”Brother Haiyu, you should know why we are sitting here today,” Su Yan suddenly leaned over, smiling and asking.

”Isn’t it for drinking?” Liu Haiyu turned and pretended to glare at Wei Chen, ”What’s the matter, is there another reason today? What are you hiding from me, boy?”

”Oh Brother Haiyu, I wouldn’t dare to hide anything from you,” Wei Chen gave Su Yan a knowing look.

”Brother Haiyu, don’t blame him, I thought...you felt the same as we do, knowing what Wei Chen and I are unhappy about,” Su Yan said, letting out a sigh, ”I can’t say these things outside, too many people, too much noise. But Brother Haiyu, you came with us to this show, you understand how we feel. Zhao Qin, although he has some tricks and can’t control himself, has been steering ’Geology Talk’ for so long, and we’ve never seen any major screw-ups in the show, let alone today’s rookie mistakes of repeating guest star clues in both groups.”

Liu Haiyu waved his hand, saying, ”Gan Bida took over in a rush, some mistakes are understandable.”

Su Yan let out an ”ah” and smiled at Wei Chen as if seeking some form of agreement, saying, ”Brother Haiyu is kind, tolerant, unlike us, who seem to be nitpicking.”

”That’s not what I meant, Xiao Yan, don’t put words in my mouth,” Liu Haiyu immediately replied.

Su Yan: ”I know that’s not what you meant, Brother Haiyu, but while you’re willing to be tolerant, others may not be willing to tolerate you.”

”What do you mean?” Liu Haiyu’s expression became more severe.

Su Yan leaned forward, whispering, ”Gan Bida suggested to Zhang Yan, to replace you.”

Liu Haiyu burst into laughter.

”Su Yan, there’s no need for this,” he said.

Su Yan earnestly replied, ”Brother Haiyu, I wouldn’t use a lie to win you over.”

Liu Haiyu’s expression turned serious.

”Gan Bida doesn’t like us old folks who have come along with ’Geology Talk’. He likes Zhou Yun, likes newcomers. He knows these directors, whether they direct TV series, movies, or variety shows, as long as someone is a director, he wants to hold all the power in his hands, and he won’t allow anyone to have more say than him,” Su Yan said, ”You’re the first, then it will be Wei Chen and me. Brother Haiyu, do you want someone else to reap the fruits of a show you’ve worked so hard for, a show that so many people like? Why should we let a newcomer come in and give orders, pushing us out?”

Liu Haiyu was silent for a long while, then asked, ”What do you plan to do?”

Su Yan gave a sly smile, curling her lips.

”Don’t worry, as long as we stand united, the show must listen to us.”
