Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 237: Chapter 200: Rising Phase: 36

In the evening, Zhou Yun originally planned to find a nearby restaurant with Zhou Lan and Zheng Xiaojue to have dinner. After the meal, they were going to head to the airport together. But Zhou Lan said she had promised Zhang Yan and Gan Bida to have dinner with them tonight.

”Is there something you need to talk about?” Zhou Yun asked.

”They want you to become a regular guest,” Zhou Lan said.

As expected.

”I’ve already refused them, but let’s have dinner together,” Zhou Lan said. ”When you have the schedule, it’s still feasible to participate in a few more episodes.”

Zhou Yun: ”Alright, I’ll follow your lead.”

At the dinner table, both Zhang Yan and Gan Bida hinted in many ways that they hoped Zhou Yun could become a permanent guest, or at least participate in more episodes.

”The variety show effects of Zhou Yun are really excellent. Usually, very beautiful female celebrities can’t let go, especially during games, they are afraid of looking ugly. But Zhou Yun is really amazing, completely disregarding her own image, and the audience will definitely be surprised when it airs,” Gan Bida complimented enthusiastically.

Zhou Yun: ”Don’t say that, I don’t know what it will look like when it’s finally broadcasted, after all, I’m new here.”

Zhang Yan laughed and said, ”Xiao Yun, you should know that we really welcome you to participate more in our program.”

”The main issue is that Xiao Yun has already signed for two movies and is waiting to join the crew; she really doesn’t have the time,” Zhou Lan mentioned.

”No problem, we can sign by the number of episodes; it doesn’t have to be as a regular. We can be flexible in cooperation,” Zhang Yan was well-prepared. ”How about this, let’s first sign for a year, including the four episodes already agreed upon, we’ll sign for ten episodes in one year; what do you think?”

Zhou Yun looked towards Zhou Lan.

Zhou Lan smiled, saying: ”Director Zhang has shown such sincerity, I will definitely consider it carefully, and we’ll discuss it in detail later.”

”No problem, we’ll talk details, don’t worry, the remuneration will definitely meet market standards,” Zhang Yan waved his hand, ”absolutely straightforward.”

After dinner, headed to the airport.

Zhou Lan looked back at Zhou Yun and said, ”Indeed, they really need you now during this transition phase to stabilize the situation. With you joining, those advertisers will settle down.”

”Just don’t let them publicly announce that I’m a regular,” Zhou Yun said. ”There is still unresolved conflict between Su Yan, Wei Chen and the other old regulars with Gan Bida, and I think there will be battles in the future.”

”That severe?”

”Wei Chen and Gan Bida had issues before, an old grudge.”

”I actually looked into this, the two once quarreled over a woman.”

”Ah?” Zhou Yun raised her eyebrows in astonishment, ”That melodramatic?”

Zhou Lan nodded, saying, ”Even more melodramatic lies ahead, guess who that woman is.”

”Who?” Zhou Yun asked.

”Wei Ruxue,” Zhou Lan uttered a name Zhou Yun had heard countless times.

”Who?!” Zhou Yun widened her eyes in shock, ”Really?”

”At least that’s the news I got, impressive right?” Zhou Lan said. ”Wei Ruxue dated Gan Bida before, but this news never leaked. You shouldn’t talk about this outside, but Gan Bida, upon discovering some ambiguous relationship between Wei Chen and Wei Ruxue during filming, impulsively attacked Wei Chen. They fought fiercely, and it became quite a big issue, later suppressed by the companies of both Wei Chen and Wei Ruxue.”

Zhou Yun was amazed, saying: ”I never would have thought that this could be related to Wei Ruxue.”

”Who would have thought,” Zhou Lan chuckled, ”I think this is a good opportunity for you.”

”Hmm?”

”He Yong really needs to promote more new artists to prominence, promoting new artists means providing them exposure opportunities. Zhang Yan needs you to stabilize the advertisers for ’Geology Talk’, so we can also use this chance to secure some guest slots for new artists. For newbies, even if just given one thousand yuan as a service fee, or even if they have to pay, ’Geology Talk’ is worth it because of its large viewer base, and the huge boost it gives to newcomers,” Zhou Lan explained.

”Isn’t that like making wedding dresses for others?” Zhou Yun asked.

Zhou Lan hesitated slightly, then said: ”Xiao Yun, there’s something I also wanted to discuss with you.”

”What?” Zhou Yun asked.

”He Yong told me, he’s willing to let me manage some artists,” Zhou Lan said. ”If I’m willing, I could get a promotion.”

Zhou Lan looked at Zhou Yun with a mix of nervousness and anticipation.

Zhou Yun smiled excitedly, ”Really? That’s great, congratulations.”

”This is all because of... you,” Zhou Lan said. ”If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have this opportunity, he urgently needs to secure you in his team.”

”Then you’re still my agent?” Zhou Yun asked.

”Of course, of course, I promise, no matter what position I get promoted to, one of my most important tasks will always be your agent,” Zhou Lan breathed a sigh of relief, smiling widely.

Zhou Yun said: ”Sister Lan, I hope you get better and better.”

Zhou Lan suddenly hugged Zhou Yun, for a second, then let go, turned her head away, chuckled, and then looked back at Zhou Yun.

”I hope so too.”

”So what will your future position be?” Zhou Yun curiously asked.

Zhou Lan shook her head, saying: ”There’s no specific position, they’re just giving me more authority, a salary increase, and now regarding your work, I have the decision-making power, no need to ask the company about everything.”

Zhou Yun’s eyes gleamed, saying: ”That’s great! Fantastic!”

”Yes, before, when going out to negotiate your work, it was quite restrictive; it will be much more comfortable in the future.”

”Sister Lan, can you do me a favor?” Zhou Yun said. ”I know Yuk Chu is not our company’s artist, but she’s my friend, could you help contact her for a few episodes on ’Geology Talk’?”

Zhou Lan hesitated slightly, saying: ”Xiao Yun, I can definitely help with that, but are you sure you want to help? I’m not saying relationships in the entertainment industry are fragile, but not everyone wants help from others. I’ve seen sensitive people in the industry; you might want to help her, but it could potentially strain your relationship.”

Zhou Yun said: ”I understand your point, but... Sister Lan, let’s keep this between us, let Zhang Yan and his team invite Yuk Chu to participate in the name of the show.”

”Alright, I understand, I’ll take care of it,” Zhou Lan gave a slight smile.

”Thank you, Sister Lan.”

The two returned to Shanghai late at night, braving the diagonal rain home.

Song Chi sent a message, saying he had come to Shanghai, asking if she was around.

Just as Zhou Yun entered the door and saw the message, she paused her shoe-changing motion. Leaning against the wall cabinet, she called Song Chi.

Song Chi answered instantly.

”You saw the message so quickly, eh? I’m still at the airport.”

”I just got home from the airport.”

”What a coincidence, if I had told you earlier, we could have left the airport together,” Song Chi’s voice carried a casual tease, ”Drink together?”
