Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 206: Chapter 174: Rise Period: 10

Wei Ru Xue was a natural-born celebrity, exuding elegance, shining brilliantly wherever she went.

She was draped in a white mink, her straight legs peeking tantalizingly out from her black gown, revealing hints of spring. She walked gracefully through the crowd, her bright eyes and white teeth sparkling, her smile carrying a self-confident breeze, dazzling all who saw her.

Her starring role in the drama ”Spring Cold” had already wrapped up, and it would be airing soon.

The much-anticipated palace drama was already hotly discussed before its broadcast, and being among the top leading actresses, she naturally brought a halo with her wherever she went.

Hongcheng TV Station had a good relationship with her, as Wei Ru Xue had starred in three major dramas that aired there, each one breaking a rating of two percent.

These days, breaking a two percent viewership was a guarantee of being in the top three for the year, an indication of immense popularity. Gossips joked that Wei Ru Xue and Hongcheng TV Station were extremely compatible, that together they were like a winning hand in a poker game.

Therefore, as soon as she appeared, Xiong Weihe went over to her.

Not only Xiong Weihe, but the Vice Station Director of Hongcheng TV Station also took the initiative to approach her.

Zhou Yun and Zhou Lan exchanged a smile upon seeing this scene.

Wei Zhili said, ”In the future, you’ll be even more popular than Wei Ru Xue.”

Zhou Yun replied, ”Sister Xue is a senior; I have a lot to learn from her.”

A polite response on point, Zhou Yun, after socializing for a long time, was feeling sleepy.

Zhou Yun whispered to Zhou Lan, ”Sister Lan, I’ve met everyone I need to meet. Can I go back to the hotel and rest now?”

People had started to leave the event one after another.

Zhou Lan nodded, saying, ”Then I’ll call Xiao Cao.”

Knowing they would be drinking this evening, Zhou Lan had already informed Xiao Cao earlier that she would need him to pick them up later and take them back to the hotel.

Zhou Yun stood waiting for Xiao Cao to arrive and started to space out.

Many people don’t realize that noisy environments are actually great for zoning out.

But Zhou Yun truly hadn’t expected that standing around in a daze would also make her an easy target.

It was a familiar face, one she had encountered before.

The last time they met, the person had been unfriendly towards her.

This time wasn’t much better.

Yu Sitian approached her in a red chiffon dress, wafting closer.

Zhou Yun stared at the somewhat familiar face, taking half a day to recall who Yu Sitian was.

These days, she had suddenly met too many people; it was normal for her to be slow on the uptake. But Yu Sitian was infuriated by the bewildered look on Zhou Yun’s face, seeing it as a blatant provocation, an intentional display of the ”who are you” attitude.

Over the past half-year, her favorite, Song Chi, had had too many entanglements with this woman. They were frequently featured in the hot search together, starred in a reality show together, and even acted in a drama together, with a large group of ”ship” fans online.

Every time Yu Sitian saw news about them, rage would engulf her, jealousy shattering and spreading through her heart like broken glass, forming a web.

A voice in her head questioned resentfully and angrily each time: why, why, why?

”Why didn’t you come with Song Chi today? Don’t you just love clinging to him all the time?” Yu Sitian’s cheeks were flushed, and her tone and demeanor seemed a bit off, leading Zhou Yun to conclude that Yu Sitian must have had too much to drink tonight, slightly tipsy.

Zhou Yun asked, ”Where’s your agent?”

Yu Sitian was livid, her youthful face tinged with embarrassed anger, ”Why do you ask about my agent?”

”You’re drunk; you need to go back,” Zhou Yun stated calmly.

Yet Yu Sitian took this as a challenge, maybe, to any young person, even a neutral statement could seem like a provocation.

”Who’s drunk? You’re the one who’s drunk!” Yu Sitian suddenly became like a bull seeing red, her already restless eyes suddenly more stimulated, glaring with an aura as if she was ready to stamp down on Zhou Yun’s grave. ”Zhou Yun, let me tell you, Song Chi is mine! I’ve liked him for a very, very long time! You homewrecker!”

Yu Sitian’s voice was both sharp and urgent, attracting the attention of the people around.

Honestly, Zhou Yun hadn’t expected to encounter such a situation.

”Yu Sitian, are you crazy? Even if you’re drunk, don’t talk nonsense!” She raised her voice, clearly trying to clarify the situation for herself.

Yu Sitian’s eyes were red, yet she managed to look incredibly wronged.

No one around said a word, but their gazes were all fixed in this direction.

Nobody would have thought that just as the banquet was about to end, a drama would unfold for their viewing.

Right now, Zhou Yun felt like a mute who had ingested Coptis chinensis – the bitterness was there but she couldn’t express it.

This was a ludicrous situation, not to mention difficult to explain.

Finally, Zhou Lan heard the commotion and hurried back.

Yu Sitian’s agent finally showed up as well.

Zhou Lan stood beside Zhou Yun and asked, ”What’s going on?”

Zhou Yun, with a cold face, replied, ”She’s having a drunken tantrum.”

Yu Sitian’s agent was cajoling her like one would soothe a child, coaxing and deceiving her to leave.

”Let’s go too,” Zhou Lan said to Zhou Yun.

Zhou Yun nodded, walked past the crowd with assorted expressions, and left the venue.

Zhou Lan didn’t say anything, but soon after she gathered what had happened at the scene from the great hall.

Zhou Lan was even more infuriated than Zhou Yun once she knew the details of the incident.

”Has Yu Sitian gone mad!”

Her eyes darted around, then she shook her head, saying, ”No, we have to take precautions against this, there were so many people tonight, news like this will certainly spread, we can’t let it brew on the internet, I’ll call someone from the company.”

Zhou Yun said, ”It’s so late, do it tomorrow.”

”If we wait until tomorrow, it will be too late,” Zhou Lan replied.

However, despite Zhou Lan’s timely intervention to prevent the incident from brewing online, the news still got out.

The next day, Zhou Yun was relieved not to see her name on the trending search, but upon looking at the comment section, every few comments there were different accounts asking: Heard you were the other woman in a relationship? Are you the mistress?

These comments had Zhou Yun’s eyebrows twitching.

Zhou Yun took a screenshot and sent it to Zhou Lan.

Zhou Lan replied instantly: Dealing with it.

Zhou Yun didn’t have the time to keep track of this since she had other work to do today.

Today was New Year’s Day, and she had to attend an offline event for a department store opening. This kind of job was frankly quite tasteless, and not something celebrities would usually accept, but the department store owner had made connections with He Yong, and He Yong had specifically asked Zhou Yun, plus the payment was not bad, so Zhou Yun accepted it. At that time, Zhou Yun also needed He Yong to take care of some other matters, which would allow her to shoot the art film ”Life.” As long as He Yong’s requests weren’t excessive, Zhou Yun was willing to agree to help a little.

With the New Year’s Day store grand opening, especially since the store had been advertising early that Zhou Yun and another singer would appear at the opening ceremony, people were already flooding in.

At ten in the morning, Zhou Yun arrived at the store.

The store had arranged an especially large security detail, a dozen or so guards surrounded Zhou Yun firmly.

However, with an offline event and the large crowds, it was necessary to hire extra security to prevent any accidents.
