Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 201: Chapter 169: Rising Phase: 05

Chen Fusi booked a restaurant that Zhou Yun had never been to before, but she had heard of it. It was very famous and also quite expensive—somewhere Zhou Yun would definitely not come to spend money on her own.

The restaurant was on an upper floor, by the window.

Outside the window, the night sky was like black velvet, the stars glittering like embedded diamonds.

Looking down, the lights were just coming on, a rainbow of brilliance, a magnificent earthly galaxy flowing interwoven below.

The women who appeared in this restaurant were generally either exquisitely beautiful or luxuriously elegant.

Zhou Yun was among the former.

Chen Fusi’s gaze lingered slightly on Zhou Yun’s lipstick-coated lips, then he looked back at her and smiled.

”Did I hear that you were shooting on set not too long ago?”

”Yes.”

Zhou Yun said, ”We just wrapped up yesterday and I left the set.”

”What a coincidence?” Chen Fusi looked at Zhou Yun in surprise and said, ”It seems I am quite lucky.”

”Mr. Chen has been abroad for a long time.” Zhou Yun said, ”Have you finished all your business overseas?”

Chen Fusi nodded and said, ”Most of it is taken care of.”

There really weren’t any topics to talk about.

Zhou Yun didn’t know what to discuss either since her understanding of Chen Fusi was limited to a superficial level.

She couldn’t just ask someone, why are you so rich? Everyone says your background is very mysterious, what is your background?

Just as Zhou Yun was drumming up the courage to speak, Chen Fusi took the initiative to begin, ”When I was abroad, I would still see your news; you were on the trending searches quite often.”

That was during the time when ”After the Scandal” was airing, Zhou Yun did indeed trend on the searches quite a bit.

Zhou Yun laughed.

”Mr. Chen, how come you follow these entertainment news abroad?”

Chen Fusi looked at Zhou Yun with an implied meaning and said, ”Just something to look at when I’m free.”

Zhou Yun: ”When you asked me out to dinner, I was actually a bit worried, afraid that you might get dragged into my troubles, getting caught by paparazzi, and then false news spread online again.”

Chen Fusi waved his hand and said, ”Don’t worry, paparazzi can’t get in here.”

This place was indeed not an ordinary eatery. They operated on a reservation system, and non-members couldn’t get in.

”By the way, I saw some news recently that said you wanted to act in a movie, but someone else got the role?” Chen Fusi asked.

Zhou Yun realized that what Chen Fusi saw was probably the news about ”Luoyan,” and she shook her head, saying, ”It was actually a misunderstanding. I did have my eye on a movie earlier, but it wasn’t snatched away. It turned out that someone had their eyes on it earlier than me, and they had already reached an agreement, so I backed out. This got out, someone wanted to smear that person, and they used this incident to spread rumors.”

”So that’s how it is.” Chen Fusi nodded, ”But if you really wanted to act in that movie, there would still be a way.”

”Huh?” Zhou Yun looked perplexed at Chen Fusi, ”What way?”

Chen Fusi said, ”You don’t need to worry about how. Just tell me, do you still want to act in that movie? If you do, I can get it sorted for you.”

Let Chen Fusi help?

Zhou Yun was internally drumming, hesitated for a moment, then gave a wry smile and said, ”Thank you for your kindness, but the company has already arranged another script for me, and my schedule is full.”

”Then forget it. Next time you encounter a situation like this, drop me a call. Unless it’s something too difficult to handle, I can still help you secure a leading role.” Chen Fusi said.

Zhou Yun’s heart pounded even more.

If a leading role in a movie could be secured so easily, why would she have faced such repeated rejections recently?

Yet Chen Fusi spoke as if he could easily take care of it.

Zhou Yun didn’t even harbor any doubt.

It was because the tip of the iceberg that Chen Fusi had previously revealed about his capabilities in her presence was already quite astonishing.

”Okay, thank you.” Zhou Yun nodded with a grateful smile.

Chen Fusi laughed, seeing through the meaning behind Zhou Yun’s smile, and said, ”It seems I won’t be receiving that call.”

Zhou Yun chuckled wordlessly.

”Whether you make the call or not, I’ve given you my word,” Chen Fusi said. ”Whenever you change your mind and need my help, you can call me anytime.”

”Mr. Chen, I can’t offer you what you want.” Zhou Yun decided to be frank and tell the truth.

The smile on Chen Fusi’s face didn’t fade as he said, ”How do you know what I want? Alright, the original intention tonight was just to have dinner with you, nothing else. Let’s just enjoy our dinner.”

With Chen Fusi saying that, Zhou Yun had no choice but to keep quiet.

After dinner, Chen Fusi asked, ”Do you have any other plans for tonight?”

Zhou Yun hesitated.

She didn’t know what Chen Fusi intended to do.

Chen Fusi said, ”Don’t get me wrong, I just have a drink planned later with a friend. If you’re available, you could join us. He is the boss of a film and television company, and knowing him could be beneficial for your career.”

Upon hearing this, Zhou Yun stopped beating around the bush and smiled, nodding, ”Then thank you, Mr. Chen.”

Half an hour later, Zhou Yun regretted coming.

The person Chen Fusi had arranged to drink with was the president of Seapool Film and Television, Chen Wenjun.

Chen Wenjun was not only famous in the industry but also well-known on social media platforms.

Because of his boisterousness.

He had openly criticized a journalist for lacking professional ethics at a new film press conference for only pursuing celebrity private life gossip and not caring about the film itself. He had also berated many celebrities on social media platforms for being overpriced and running off halfway through filming. There were many notable incidents associated with Chen Wenjun.

But Chen Wenjun dared to curse people because he had the standing to do so. His company, Seapool Film and Television, was one of the most rapidly rising film companies in recent years, with three box office top three hits receiving much attention.

Zhou Yun regretted coming, not because of Chen Wenjun, but because of the woman by Chen Wenjun’s side—to be precise, the celebrity woman, whom Zhou Yun knew and had interacted with not long ago.

Lew Qingqing.

Following Chen Fusi into the room, the first scene Zhou Yun saw was Lew Qingqing sitting by Chen Wenjun’s side, feeding him a cherry with her own hands.

The scene was a bit too intimate.

As their eyes met without a word, sparks flew silently between Zhou Yun and Lew Qingqing.

”Finally back! I had no one to drink with when you weren’t in the country,” Chen Wenjun slapped Chen Fusi’s shoulder and exaggeratedly said.

For a big boss, how could it be hard to find a drinking companion.

Chen Fusi chuckled and called out, ”President Chen.”

”Would you mind if I brought a friend with me?” Chen Fusi turned to signal Zhou Yun, ”Xiao Yun, Seapool’s President Chen, do you know him?”

Zhou Yun smiled gracefully and said, ”I’ve seen President Chen from a distance before. I know who he is, but he probably doesn’t know me.”
