Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

Old Man Xia, learning that an old friend was ill, couldn’t help but panic, even contemplating accompanying him to the hospital himself.

Uncle Fu, noticing what was on Old Man Xia’s mind, stepped forward to persuade him, ”You should stay at home and rest. If you go to the hospital, An Jiaxin will have to divide her attention to take care of you. She will worry if you strain yourself going to the hospital in the middle of the night, and she might become too tired to care for Grandma Qin.”

Only after these words did Old Man Xia agree to stay, knowing that visiting the hospital wouldn’t help his friend and fearing he might be a burden to the younger generation, who would have to take care of him instead.

So be it, he would wait at home.

Seeing that Old Man Xia had dropped the idea of going to the hospital, Uncle Fu felt relieved and said, ”You go back to your room and rest for now. I will contact An Jiaxin later to inquire about Old Master Qin’s condition. Does that sound acceptable to you?”

Old Man Xia, no longer insistent, nodded his head and was helped back to his bedroom by the guards to wait for news.

Meanwhile, Ye Jian sat in the Qin family’s private car, clutching Grandma Qin’s arm, softly saying, ”Grandma Qin, don’t worry. The doctors have said not to worry, let’s listen to them. Grandpa Qin has doctors and nurses taking care of him, so he will certainly be safe and sound.”

The sudden convulsions of Old Master Qin had frightened Grandma Qin, who usually had a sturdier constitution than Old Man Xia, rarely suffering even minor colds. His sudden collapse frightened even the stalwart Old Madam.

”Your Grandpa Qin was always well, and to suddenly fall like that, I was frightened too. It’s tough on you tonight, girl, having to come out in the cold to take care of me. Xiu should have checked with you first before making you come and look after me, ah... I’m troubling you.”

When Ye Jian arrived at the Qin residence, she saw the medical staff attending to Old Master Qin. The guards assigned to take care of Old Master Qin and Old Man Xia had emergency training, which helped buy precious golden time for Old Master Qin’s rescue.

Upon seeing Ye Jian, Qin Xiu, without any hesitation, asked her to look after the old madam. Ye Jian agreed immediately without a second thought, as she had come to see if there was any need for her assistance anyway.

Holding hands with the old madam, Ye Jian spoke softly, ”Grandma Qin, you’re being too formal with me. You’re my elder, so how could it be tough to take care of you? It’s what I should do, and I’m actually afraid of being in your way.”

Ye Jian was not usually eloquent, but each word she spoke conveyed her sincerity, touching Grandma Qin. She gripped the hand within her arm tightly and sighed, ”Child, you’re truly a delightful person.”

Unfortunately, she had no destined bond with her grandson, Qin Xiu. Although Qin Xiu liked her, and she liked him, they just weren’t meant to be, and it was a missed opportunity that led to regrets.

Xiu never truly let go of her, and Grandma Qin sighed repeatedly in her heart. She patted Ye Jian’s hand and lightly said, ”Good child,” she indeed was. It was their Qin family’s misfortune to miss out on her. Old Master Qin still had no idea that the girl his grandson held dear was Jian.

When her husband awoke, she would find an opportunity to tell him.

Thinking of her partner, Grandma Qin’s eyes filled with tears; he simply couldn’t have anything wrong, he just couldn’t.

The ambulance rushed to the nearest hospital with sirens wailing. The hospital had already dispatched doctors for the rescue, managing to save the old master with the utmost speed. Qin Xiu made a phone call to Mrs. Qin, then to his sister Qin Ying, and then to their uncle who lived in the capital city, before finally approaching Ye Jian.
