Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

Ye Jian, sitting on the bed, analyzed slowly, her voice clear and melodious, without a hint of panic.

”I heard from Uncle Xia that Staff Officer Du has always been fair in official matters, abiding by the law and regulations. The occasional minor mistake—one that would neither damage his reputation nor affect his career—happened, but before, Old Master Li indeed supported his son-in-law. However, in the later stages, Staff Officer Du himself couldn’t stand Old Master Li’s actions and took the initiative to request a transfer elsewhere, where he then ran into Uncle Xia.”

”Therefore, I don’t need to worry about Staff Officer Du. The only thing to worry about is Li Chuhai’s twins. They could be somewhat tricky, but there’s no need for excessive concern.”

”I’m in the military, they are in the country, and now they’ve been blacklisted, preventing their return. Naturally, they can’t do anything to me. It wasn’t easy for Staff Officer Du to climb to where he is today; surely he won’t ruin his decades of hard work because of a criminal.”

”If Madam Li wants to do something foolish, we won’t even need to step in. Staff Officer Du, as her husband, won’t let her off easily. Oh, right, what about Madam Li’s eldest son? What is he like?”

”I was once assigned to the regiment he was in charge of. Du Jiayi tried to make things difficult for me, but that very afternoon, she vanished. Zhou Yijin later told me that Du Jiayi was scolded by her brother and left crying, dragging her suitcase.”

Ye Jian was not too familiar with Kaiwei, who was also in the military, but she was aware that he had some unresolved issues with Xia family’s eldest brother, Xia Ling, a situation similar to Staff Officer Du and Uncle Xia.

Both pairs were like kings avoiding each other’s presence, as the saying goes, ’If both cannot stand each other, why bring the disciple into the light?’

Xia Jinyuan saw her analyzing the situation seriously, without a trace of worry on her face, and he couldn’t help but admire her composure. Leaning over, he lightly brushed the tip of her nose with his slender finger and smiled, dispelling her doubts, ”Kaiwei is not bad, the eldest son of Father Xiao, inherited his father’s somewhat narrow-mindedness. Aside from that, he’s good at keeping his public and private affairs separate and is quite capable of keeping his younger siblings in line.”

”That year, when Madam Li’s youngest son got into a fight and was taken into custody, Madam Li tried to bail him out immediately. It was Kaiwei who intervened to stop her and intentionally asked the police not to give any special treatment to his brother for the sake of the Du family. He said to deal with it as they would normally.”

”Because of this incident, he received a record and couldn’t join the military, and there were rumors that he harbored resentment against Kaiwei for them. Kaiwei told him, ’You still get to enjoy the sun, do business, and fly all over the world, surrounded by people. Have any of those involved in the fight with you met a good end?’”

”After showing those with whom he fought’s records to his brother, peace prevailed at home, and even Madam Li didn’t dare blame her eldest son for her youngest’s inability to join the army.”

”From these small incidents, one can see that Kaiwei is quite a commendable person. Also, he is someone who understands the importance of gratitude. Ye Zhifan once saved him unintentionally, and Kaiwei kept it in mind and immediately arranged for Ye Ying to join the military through his family, but unfortunately, turmoil ensued, and Kaiwei was also implicated.”

This was also why, later on, Madam Li targeted Ye Ying with such ruthless determination, likely because both her husband and son had been implicated by the association.

Hearing all this, Ye Jian felt even more at ease about Madam Li’s side of things. She clapped her hands together, laughing crisply and clearly, ”Well, that settles it. Madam Li won’t pose any problem, and we really don’t need to worry about anything.”

Ye Jian, aware of the Li family knowing about her only recently, showed no undue concern. Facing the potential dangers with great calmness, she said, ”You can also relax a bit. Neither the Old Madam Li nor Madam Li will be able to stir up any trouble.”

”And since the twins can’t come to our country, they won’t cause any trouble either.”
