Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

Old Master Qin gently patted Qin Xiu’s arm, which tightly clung to his own, and continued lovingly, ”You are a child with goals and aspirations, deeply in love with our motherland, willing to dedicate your entire life to serving our homeland. Grandpa also walked through such a passionate age and understands you completely, even if you tell Grandpa now that for the sake of strengthening our country’s foreign relations, you wish to remain unmarried for life, Grandpa would understand.”

”But Xiu, Grandpa is no saint; his heart is soft. Grandpa can understand you, but he truly does not wish to see you all alone, and it pains his heart.”

”Find a girlfriend with shared ideals, like Ye Jian and Little Six of the Xia family, both soldiers with common goals. Even separated by thousands of miles, they continue hand in hand striving toward their mutual goal, thus, they are connected by an invisible bond, no matter how far apart they are, their hearts are together.”

”Such love is not merely personal but a sublimation on the spiritual level, a fusion of two souls, which as time goes by, does not lose strength from prolonged separation, but rather, like aged wine, becomes ever more fragrant.”

”Grandpa hopes you can find such a girlfriend. We won’t force it, nor should you seek another just to forget someone else; that would be unfair to the next person, and Grandpa does not approve.”

”Your uncle made a mistake, and although Grandpa accepted Qin Yi back into the Qin family, it was because his child was innocent, but your uncle... Grandpa will never forgive him in this lifetime.”

”You must remember, we must not use our youth as an excuse to err, nor should we comfort ourselves by thinking everyone has experienced youthful folly or has made mistakes in their youth.”

”Youthful folly—that’s youth in luxurious and reckless splendor; because of youthful dreams, one may do reckless and immature things. But all errors must not contravene morality, principles, or step on others’ pain, preying on others’ vitality and blood.”

”Remember Grandpa’s words, walk your own path well. If some people or things are hopeless, you need to be able to pick up and let go. Understand?”

”Grandpa has no other hopes; he only hopes you can find a like-minded lover to share your life with, through thick and thin, never abandoning each other.”

Old Master Qin spoke softly, with persuasion, comfort, and admonishment.

Qin Xiu was his most beloved grandson, also the most promising one to carry forward the Qin family’s legacy. He hoped his most beloved grandson could find happiness, not having to sacrifice his own happiness for the sake of the family, marrying a girl with a matched family background arranged by Mrs. Qin, solely because she was a match for their Qin family.

Qin Xiu listened earnestly, taking in every word of the old master’s speech, ”I will find a girl with shared ideals, who resonates with my own heart. Grandpa, you can rest assured.”

”Don’t worry about me; I will handle my affairs well. And please do not be upset because of some things my mother has done; she does not mean anything by it, only trying to find a girl well-matched in social status, who won’t hold me back.”

”It’s not her fault for thinking this way; rather, it’s the prevailing attitude in the capital city. To ally with the strong through marriage is the most effective and convenient strategy for advancement.”

”But my mother is mistaken; our Qin family does not need any alliances or marriage for support, as I do not pursue politics, so there is absolutely no need for that.”

”I will have another talk with my mother. You and grandma don’t need to worry.”
