Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

Ye Jian asked the old man how he had been feeling lately, and Uncle Fu actually wanted to tell her the truth. However, the old man had instructed Uncle Fu to absolutely not tell the truth, so as not to worry Ye Jian and affect her work. He also mentioned that he was completely recovered now and as long as he didn’t speak of it, Uncle Fu wouldn’t either, so Ye Jian was unaware that the old man had caught a cold.

Thinking it over, Uncle Fu agreed with the old man’s perspective and ultimately sided with him, not wishing to worry Ye Jian. Even when she inquired in detail while helping out in the kitchen, Uncle Fu still didn’t reveal the true situation to her.

Now that Qin Xiu had unexpectedly revealed it, the old man fell silent for a long while. Then, seeing Ye Jian’s expression turn serious, the old man and Old Master Qin exchanged glances with each other, and silently gave Qin Xiu a look. This child, wasn’t he usually quite clever? How could he drop the ball at such a critical moment?

Qin Xiu remained unmoved and said coolly, ”If I can’t persuade you both, then I must rely on a savior who can. Grandpa Fu, Ye Jian rarely comes home once a year, and what worries her the most is you. If you don’t take good care of your health, how can she work with peace of mind?”

The old man nodded in agreement, ”That’s right, I have to take good care of myself. I still want to see my great-grandson with my own eyes, don’t I?”

Xia Jinyuan quite liked what he was hearing and immediately smiled, saying, ”At that time, I’m afraid we’ll still need to trouble you with helping us take care of the child.”

The old man loved hearing that, seemingly imagining himself looking after his great-grandson in the future, and happily continued the conversation, ”If I still have the energy, I will definitely take him around to have fun.”

”If you want to enjoy your time with the great-grandson, then you must take good care of yourself first. Like today, with the snow not stopping and the wind being strong, you and Old Master Qin were so happy that you went out for a round in the snowstorm. We, as the younger generation, understand your happiness, but we hope even more for your health and well-being, free from illness and disaster.”

Xia Jinyuan was skilled at cheering up the elderly, and with a few words, he had coaxed the old man into high spirits, and he promised to take very good care of his health and to absolutely not allow himself to fall sick.

Uncle Fu in the kitchen heard this and couldn’t help but smile, thinking that the young master from the Xia family really knew how to handle matters.

After listening, Qin Xiu felt as if he had touched on something profound. Looking at the joyous old man and Old Master Qin, who was also happily joining in, Qin Xiu reflected thoughtfully.

After dinner, Xia Jinyuan went back to the Xia family’s old residence. Ye Jian wanted to go along, and the old man also wanted Ye Jian to come over and visit the Xia family’s old master and Old Madam. Xia Jinyuan didn’t want Ye Jian to run back and forth; she could just come over the next afternoon and stay for dinner as well.

He considered that if she went with him tonight, she would inevitably have to stay overnight at the old mansion, and knowing that the old man hadn’t seen Ye Jian in a long time, he probably had some private matters he wanted to discuss with her after everyone else had left. With such thoughtful consideration, he went back to the Xia family’s old residence alone.

Once Xia Jinyuan had left, Old Master Qin and Qin Xiu also departed together.

On the way home, Old Master Qin, while being supported by Qin Xiu as he walked slowly, sighed and said, ”Grandpa won’t rush you, but I’m thinking you also need to speed up a bit. Just now, when I heard Little Six mention about a great-grandson, my heart felt so happy.”

”Grandpa is old now; living one more day is one day less. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to enjoy my next meal properly after today’s, and perhaps after having this good chat with you, by tomorrow morning Grandpa might be gone.”

Qin Xiu frowned, ”Grandpa, you’re fine right now, don’t talk like that.”
