Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

People from the Li family, to put it bluntly, apart from Jinnian, there are no clean ones left.

Though Qin Xiu was somewhat annoyed by Mrs. Qin having complete control over the marriage affairs, he still couldn’t neglect everything because of this. He also couldn’t bear to see Mrs. Qin so worried that she lost sleep over it. Standing to the side, he couldn’t help but whisper to Old Man Xia, ”Grandpa Fu, I’m sorry our family affairs have caused you concern.”

He was hinting at asking Old Master Fu to give Mrs. Qin some guidance.

Old Master Fu was actually not fond of meddling in other families’ affairs, but as for the Qin family, their relationship was simply too good. Not to mention, he had watched Qin Ying and Qin Xiu grow up, treasuring the siblings as if they were his own grandchildren. Now, seeing Qin Xiu’s earnest request, Old Master Fu really couldn’t bring himself to refuse.

After some thought, Old Man Xia sighed and said, ”Speaking of Qin Ying, she came to visit me a while ago and mentioned her situation with a military officer. Now that you’ve brought it up in front of me, I won’t shy away from meddling in your family matters. I might as well speak frankly.”

”You, concerned about your children’s marriage prospects, you hope that one marries well and the other finds a good spouse, hoping that everything turns out well. The family background must be good, character must be good, ability must be good—you aim for the best in all aspects, believing that you’re considering your children’s best interests in every regard, never feeling that there is anything wrong with what you do.”

”But as for Dingkang’s wife, have you ever thought that what you’re aiming for, is actually not what your children wish for? You fuss over Qin Ying’s well-being to the point of growing gray hairs and breaking your heart, but I’ve observed just how much Qin Ying herself has worn herself out. It pains my heart to see this child suffer.”

”Back in the day, when you were posted abroad with Dingkang and it was inconvenient to take Qin Ying with you, you left her behind, which is why Qin Ying developed a strong sense of independence and autonomy. Now that your daughter has grown up and can make decisions for herself in both small and big matters, your forceful demands on your end are causing you to suffer, and Qin Ying is not feeling great about it either.”

When Qin Ying’s childhood was mentioned, Mrs. Qin couldn’t help but take out a handkerchief to wipe away her tears, ”Isn’t it because I feel that Dingkang and I owe Qin Ying and want to make it up to her?”

”I can understand your intentions. Ultimately, you’re hoping that each of your children ends up well, and I get that. Dingkang’s wife, I watched as you married into the Qin family, saw you bear children for Dingkang and manage the household.”

”My old eyes have seen your hardships, your parents-in-law have seen it, Dingkang understands it in his heart, and the whole family knows and appreciates you. That’s why no one has meddled much with the siblings’ marriages; they trust that you will choose well for them, remembering all the good you’ve done.”

”But look at what has happened now. Not long ago, out of annoyance for you, Qin Xiu was dispatched abroad for a year. Later, he chased after the Du family’s girl, and abandoned a chance for a promotion, opting to return to work in China from Molaban. His going back and forth cost him a great opportunity.”

”Qin Xiu’s matter is in the past, and I won’t bring it up again. With his ability, Qin Xiu can earn back what he has lost. But what about Qin Ying? Her temperament is even wilder than Qin Xiu’s. Remember when you took her to meet potential suitors, and she took off on her own with a passport and camera to travel around the world, not returning to the country for nearly five years?”

”Don’t you have any regrets in your heart? Because of your incessant meddling in marriage affairs, your son has cast aside his future. Because of your interference, your daughter has simply left the country and hasn’t returned. Don’t you feel even a bit of regret, or a fraction of fear?”

Old Man Xia didn’t scold Mrs. Qin, only laid out the facts, hoping to make Mrs. Qin realize the potential harm her actions were causing her children.
