The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 400: Chapter 400 What is this, burying one’s head in the sand?_1

Like a startled deer, Samantha Tate’s body flinched, pushing against Carson Flores’s chest, creating a small distance between herself and Landen Gilliam, and at the same time, her hand pressed down on Carson’s.

Carson stopped moving.

He looked down into Samantha Tate’s eyes, his gaze inquisitive.

Samantha Tate dared not look into Carson’s eyes because she feared that if she did, her already wavering will would completely collapse.

With an inward sigh, Carson’s eyes slowly cooled off, and he withdrew his hand, turned over, and rolled to the side.

Perhaps if he had persisted a bit more, Samantha Tate would have agreed, but since she had shown resistance, Carson was reluctant to do anything against her heart’s wishes.

Samantha Tate sighed a breath of relief, her slight resistance having drained all her willpower.

God knows how difficult it was for her to make that move, for in her dreams, she had experienced it countless times, longing for it for so long.

It was not that she didn’t love Carson enough to give herself to him, but rather that Carson’s wife was Shirley Miller.

”Brother, I’m sorry...”

Carson placed a hand over Samantha’s mouth and gently soothed her, ”Why apologize? It was me who was impulsive.”

Samantha Tate pried Carson’s hand away, insisting on explaining, ”Brother, I really do like you, but I want to wait for my sister to come back and have a proper talk with her. Even though I’ve dreamt of this scene many times and longed for it, doing it now always makes me feel like a thief...”

”Alright!”

Carson softly agreed, ”Then let’s wait for her to come back.”

Samantha Tate turned to face him, staring into Carson’s eyes, ”You’re not mad, are you?”

Carson laughed, ”Of course not, what you did was right, and it was me who was too eager.”

Samantha Tate looked down, hesitated for a moment, closed her eyes, and tentatively reached out her hand.

Carson’s eyes suddenly widened in surprise at Samantha Tate.

What was this about?

Trying to fool oneself?

...

”How much longer is your course?”

In the restaurant, Carson picked at the noodles in the large bowl in front of him, mixing the chili with the noodles, the red chili oil arousing his tremendous appetite.

Samantha Tate’s noodle-picking was much more refined, or rather, a beauty doing anything always looked lovely: ”It ends in half a month.”

Carson pondered for a moment, ”Next, I’m going to close off for half a month for cultivation. After that, I plan to take a trip to Polgel.”

Samantha’s noodle-picking paused, ”What are you going to do in Polgel?”

Carson explained, ”Oscar Miller is in Polgel, and so is my mother’s family. The ones who chased after my parents are also there, so I need to go there and check things out.”

Samantha Tate asked softly, ”How long will you be staying?”

Carson shook his head, ”I’m not sure; it might be a long time. Of course, it could also be very short.”

Samantha Tate hesitated and then mustered the courage, ”I’m not a Cultivator, and I know I can’t help you, but I still want to go with you... don’t worry, I won’t hold you up from doing anything, I just want to be able to see you when you’re free.”

Carson smiled, ”Okay!”

Samantha Tate was briefly stunned, then looked at Carson with surprise and delight, ”You’re letting me go with you?”

Carson nodded, ”Yes, why not? If you want to go, let’s go. I’ll have Lydia Howell accompany you to ensure your safety.”

Samantha Tate was overjoyed, ”I thought you’d advise against it, saying Polgel was unsafe and ask me to stay in Seashore or go back to Polgel.”

Carson laughed, ”There is indeed some danger, but I think you’re not afraid, right?”

Samantha Tate nodded excitedly, ”I’m not afraid! Rather than waiting at home foolishly, I’d rather face dangers with you, even if it’s dangerous, I feel it’s worth it. I don’t like the endless waiting.”

”Hmm.”

The reason Carson wanted to take Samantha Tate to Polgel was that he might stay there for a long time on this trip.

Apart from dealing with a few people who needed to be dealt with and continuing to search for the whereabouts of his parents, he also had to visit the Frost Family.

It wasn’t that he wanted to acknowledge his ancestors and cling to the Frost Family for support, but that he wanted to inquire about news of his parents there. As his mother’s family, they should know much more about his parents than strangers do.

As for whether Frost Family members would recognize him as their relative, Carson didn’t really care.

Blood relation can only prove the connection between individuals from a biological perspective, but as emotional beings, those who share affection are the real family members.

Why are family members the most important?

It’s because of affection.

Why is a distant relative not as good as a near neighbor?

That’s because there is only blood relation and no emotional investment, naturally, there’s no affection.

The union of his mother and father was not approved by the Frost Family members, and being the child of an unapproved union, having not grown up within the Frost Family, he was just like a wild child from outside, even with blood relations, it was within reason for others not to acknowledge him as family.

Carson had a feeling that in Polgel, something exciting was waiting for him.

”What about your security job?”

Carson chuckled, ”Quit, of course. According to my runaway young master persona, it’s only logical to quit and return home after having my fill of adventures...”
