The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 388: Chapter 388: Want to Know? Come Find Me!_1

Like her father?

Carson Flores’s face couldn’t help but take on a subtle change.

The love triangle was already quite melodramatic, and now with another character added to the mix, it had become a love quadrangle?

This woman harbored feelings for his father, while Gunner Tate was in love with his mother, but his father didn’t care for that woman, and his mother didn’t care for Gunner Tate either...

Carson Flores, refusing to give up, asked, ”She didn’t reveal anything about her background?”

Johnny Gross nodded, ”Indeed, she revealed nothing about her origins. But she seemed quite familiar with your father. Considering your father also appeared out of nowhere years ago, dazzling everyone with his talents without anyone knowing his origins, I believe that she and your father must be from The Unknown Land.”

Carson Flores widened his eyes in astonishment, ”The Unknown Land, where is that?”

Johnny Gross shook his head, ”I don’t know either. I only heard someone mention it once, saying there’s a mysterious place beyond the world’s Sects and noble families, where some Cultivators gather. It’s called ’The Unknown Land’ because no one really knows where they are – they’re elusive, impossible to find. Only with the right key can one locate them and gain entry.”

A key?

Carson Flores suddenly thought of something and pressed on, ”The Heaven’s Prophecy jade?”

Johnny Gross nodded, ”Exactly, the Heaven’s Prophecy jade itself doesn’t hold much value. After all, it’s just a piece of jade, and how expensive can it be? Its significance lies in what it represents – it’s a key, one that can open The Unknown Land and grant entry.”

”There’s a legend that Cultivators from The Unknown Land possess prolonged lifespans, mastering the art of immortality. Hence, whenever keys that can grant access to The Unknown Land appear, they are fervently contested. Who in this world doesn’t wish for eternal life? Even if it’s not the immortality from legends, living an extra hundred or eighty years would be remarkable indeed.”

”If your father truly comes from The Unknown Land, he naturally has the privilege of entry and exit. But your mother is a member of the Frost Family from the capital; she wouldn’t possess such access. So, your father’s interception and acquisition of the Heaven’s Prophecy jade might have been to allow your mother to accompany him into The Unknown Land.”

At this point, Carson Flores felt that the long-standing puzzles in his heart were finally beginning to unravel.

”Do you know anything else?”

Johnny Gross shook his head, ”Some of these pieces of information Shane Fox told me years ago, and some are my own conjectures. As you know, I’m merely a Grandmaster, not even a Great Grandmaster, so I really don’t have access to such high-level information.”

Carson Flores asked, ”Shane Fox, does Gunner Tate know?”

Johnny Gross shook his head, ”Shane Fox might know some of it, and Gunner Tate is probably more informed. Whether they knew that woman or not, I’m not sure. Back then, Shane Fox was just in a fit of rage and told me a bit more because he saw me sneaking off the mountain behind his back.”

Carson Flores pondered, ”How can you prove that what you say is true and not just something you concocted to fool me?”

Johnny Gross picked up the cell phone from the bedside table and flipped through the call log, ”Shane Fox can confirm everything.”

Carson Flores looked at the phone and said indifferently, ”Call him.”

Johnny Gross obediently dialed Shane Fox’s number and turned on the speakerphone.

”Hello?”

Johnny Gross said respectfully, ”Mr. Fox, Carson Flores has come to see me.”

Shane Fox was silent for two seconds, ”Is he right next to you?”

Johnny Gross replied, ”Yes, I have the speakerphone on.”

Carson Flores interjected, ”Five Dragon Sect, Shane Fox?”

Shane Fox’s tone was cold, ”Carson Flores?”

Carson Flores questioned, ”Years ago, you tried to kill my parents and wanted me dead as well?”

Shane Fox answered cleanly, ”Yes, back then, had I not been delayed by something at the last minute, which made me a bit late, your entire family would have been long reunited in the underworld. And because I arrived late, your parents were rescued by someone, and for that, I was penalized with ten years of hard labor...”

Carson Flores inquired, ”Do you know who took my parents away?”

”I do.”

Shane Fox snorted coldly in response, ”I know, but I won’t tell you. If you want to know, come find me yourself.”

Carson Flores replied calmly, ”Fine then, wait for me. I’ll come looking for you.”

Shane Fox laughed loudly, ”Alright, I’ll wait.”

Shane Fox hung up the call, and Johnny Gross looked at the silent Carson Flores, tentatively saying, ”Though I did indeed attempt to kill your father back then, I never truly hurt him...”

Carson Flores raised his head and glanced at Johnny Gross, ”Back then, that woman was about to attack you, but my father stopped her?”

Johnny Gross nodded, his expression a bit awkward, ”Yes.”

Carson Flores spoke flatly, ”Since my father spared your life back then and even interceded for you, naturally, I won’t make things difficult for you either. Your life can stay with you for now. But if I ever find out you’ve lied or kept anything from me, I’ll come looking for you.”

Johnny Gross heaved a huge sigh of relief and quickly swore, ”Everything I’ve said is true. If there’s a single lie, may lightning strike me down, and may I die a horrible death. You can come for my life anytime!”
