Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

But even if Avery Jane isn’t special, Evelyn is still in danger, because she returned home crying, saying Joshua Hughes has a sweetheart hidden away outside, and he hasn’t been back to Hughes Castle for an entire month.

Now that impossibly large place has only her left.

Arthur Yates dared to say this because he knew Avery Jane is a person who clings to the past.

”Dad, it’s not like that. I left my phone at home today, didn’t bring it with me.”

Avery instinctively blurted out; lately, she often doesn’t want to bring her phone, as if she has a mental block.

Whenever the phone rings, Joshua’s deep and seductive voice seems to appear, making her nervous, so she simply doesn’t bring it.

”At home? You mean yours and Mr. Hughes’s home?” Arthur’s voice betrayed his anxious and worried mood.

”No, it’s just the place I’m staying at now.” Avery lowered her head, not knowing how to face this elderly man. He is the father of the man she loves most, yet he doesn’t have a heart that’s as clean and warm as his son’s.

”Avery Jane, I won’t beat around the bush. In a couple of days, I want you to find a way to have Evelyn serve Mr. Hughes.”

Arthur hired a professional doctor to accurately measure Evelyn’s ovulation period; he’s determined to succeed this time.

Because a year can feel long or short; almost two months have already passed, yet Evelyn hasn’t even seen Joshua’s face, how could she have a child?

Evelyn is healthy, the chances of pregnancy are very high, so there’s no harm in trying hard. Once there’s a child, everything will be easier.

”Dad, how is this even possible?”

Avery was startled by Arthur’s words. Does he take Joshua Hughes for a fool?

Besides, that man is quite incomprehensible; he doesn’t like turning off the lights during the act. He says he likes seeing her expressions at her peak.

To attempt a switch in front of Joshua Hughes is simply absurd.

If caught by him, she wouldn’t even know how she’d die.

”Avery, so you’re not going to help? If you don’t help Evelyn, you won’t be able to marry Joshua Hughes either; his marriage isn’t decided by him alone. If Evelyn gets married in, she might treat you better, letting you stay by Mr. Hughes’s side. But if someone else takes her place, you wouldn’t even know how you might die.”

The car was filled with the scent of Arthur’s long-term smoking habits, causing Avery to feel like she was about to vomit.

It wasn’t just the smell, his words made Avery feel even more disgusted.

”It’s not that I don’t want to help, it’s that I don’t know how to help. Who is Joshua Hughes? How could he allow me to arrange such a thing?” Avery doesn’t know why, but whenever she thinks about Evelyn with Joshua Hughes, she feels entirely uncomfortable and distressed.

Avery felt endless sorrow; she thought the Yates Family was home for her. But now, after these words, she knew, even if one day Joshua Hughes grew tired of her, she would never return to the Yates Family. It’s no longer her home.

”Put this in his drink.” Arthur’s narrow eyes gleamed with excitement as he took a bottle of pills from his pocket.

Avery jumped in fright, looking at the small white bottle; it clearly wasn’t anything good, so she nervously asked, ”Dad, what is this?”

”This is medicine that stimulates excitement, it will provoke lust and cause hallucinations. Avery, in two days, find an opportunity to give this to Mr. Hughes to consume, then let Evelyn take your place.” Arthur all but commanded her with the authority of a parent, believing that if she still thought of Wenyard Cooper, she would agree.

”I can try, but I can’t guarantee success, it’s too dangerous, and he hasn’t been here for two days, I don’t know if he’ll come.” Avery felt nauseous as she thought about these matters, she just wanted to leave the car quickly, away from this repulsive old man.

”Don’t try to fool me, Avery. You wouldn’t want your mom to have a hard life. She’s cared for you more than Evelyn all these years, you cannot be ungrateful.” Arthur pulled out his last trump card, using Remi Wright’s weakness as his best weapon against Avery. With Remi Wright, Avery would do anything for him.

His fox-like sneaky face embellished with a creepy smile was terrifying.

”Don’t make things difficult for Mom, I can only promise that I’ll do my best.” Avery’s empty gaze turned to the outside of the car. Outside, in the winter sunlight, the light was the star of the scenery. Young men and women on the street passed by, their figures emphasized by the sun’s rays, giving a sense of joy and vitality. They chatted happily and amiably; their voices seemed distant yet refreshing like the monsoon after the rain. However, this beautiful scene had nothing to do with her.
