Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

Avery Jane was right next to him, so close. The soft yellow light in the room spilled onto the thick carpet, everything seemed warm and tranquil, and a great sense of satisfaction rose from the depths of Beckett Wright’s heart.

She was so petite and endearing, evoking a desire in a man to protect her at all costs.

Beckett Wright and Joshua Hughes might just be two completely different kinds of people; for a beautiful woman like Avery Jane, the first type of man is like Joshua Hughes, who takes possession, taking what he wants first, regardless of her willingness or feelings.

The second type is like Beckett Wright, who feels affection, love, and tenderness, wanting just to protect and cherish her properly.

The first type always gets what they want first, while the second type is always giving.

Just looking at her that way, even as the night deepened, he couldn’t bear to fall asleep.

”Alex, I heard the old man from the Thompson Family came looking for you?”

In the private club’s box, the location was excellent, situated at the top level. Enormous floor-to-ceiling windows offered a panoramic view of the city’s beauty.

Outside, the daytime city made of concrete and steel always seemed to lack something, but at night with neon flashing, everything was filled with the dazzling beauty of flowing lights, though the men sitting on the sofas had no mind to appreciate it. Smiling, they drank down wine gleaming like pigeon-blood ruby.

Joshua Hughes looked at Alexander King, lost in thought.

”He wanted me to take the chance to meet his daughter when she returns to the country, pursue her, and propose to her as quickly as possible.”

Alexander King wore a harmless smile, casually took off his suit, rolled up his sleeves, and personally poured wine for Joshua Hughes.

Isaac Thompson, that old fox, could handle anything, except women were his weakness, easy to exploit.

”What’s your condition?”

Joshua Hughes raised an eyebrow. If his judgment wasn’t wrong, Alexander King had surely agreed to Isaac Thompson’s proposal, but he wouldn’t marry Isaac Thompson’s daughter for nothing.

Or perhaps they had reached some form of agreement.

”He doesn’t lack much but land, so I asked for a thirty-year usage right to a piece of his land.”

Alexander took a sip, thinking that such a deal wasn’t bad, but selling himself like this seemed a bit cheap.

”Selling yourself just like that? I’ve heard Isaac Thompson’s daughter is a bookworm.”

Joshua Hughes inadvertently thought of Avery Jane, who was also a stubborn one, a bookworm losing sleep and appetite over a dead person.

Women were truly the most incomprehensible creatures, but he didn’t need to understand them, as long as they obediently followed his will.

”Isaac Thompson’s heart is nearly failing, taking over his industry wouldn’t be difficult, I’m just doing a bit of charity, that’s all. Anyone could fill the position of a wife, and maybe Nora Thompson is the best choice.”

Alexander said softly, planning to clear away all obstacles in this battle, and when he walked the red carpet to hold a wedding, it would be the time he took charge of the King family.

And Nora Thompson, being such a serious bookworm, wouldn’t meddle in his personal life, as she was oblivious to worldly matters.

”With your skills, getting a bookworm to agree within a month shouldn’t be a problem.”

Joshua Hughes raised his glass, the seductive color was like her lips tightly bitten in confusion, and the thought sent a surge of heat through his abdomen. What was happening to him? These days, he couldn’t stop thinking about entangling with that little woman, only blaming her alluring scent and the warmth within her body; it truly was maddening, as if he had become addicted, and couldn’t quit.

”You should prepare a gift, my wedding gift.” Alexander King gestured with his wine glass to the man across from him, and they both drained their glasses.

For him, marriage had never been the result of love; what he wanted was absolute profit transfer.

While the two drank wine and chatted, the phone on the table rang lightly.

Glancing at the phone number, the darkness in Joshua Hughes’s eyes slowly shifted, transforming into an untouchable thick fog.

”Sir, Miss Jane didn’t come back today.” A hoarse voice spoke as if carrying a mouthful of sand, it was Nanny Collins’s voice.

Joshua Hughes’s brows gradually furrowed, unsure if the voice was unsettling or the news was.

He stood up, ”Alex, I still have something to do today, next time I’ll host.”

Alexander King watched Joshua Hughes’s hurried departure, not like his usual self; most of the time, he was elegant and distinguished, so why did he appear so out of character today?
