Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

Yesterday, he also attended the dinner party, so all those ambiguous marks on Avery Jane were left by him, but he could clearly sense Avery’s fear and resistance.

Joshua Hughes didn’t step forward, his tall figure still standing in place, his sharp eyes piercing through Beckett Wright, watching the small figure curled up on the beige sofa.

She had changed into light-colored clothes that suited her well, making her look like a little dream doll. This must have been chosen by Beckett Wright for her, right?

Avery matched his gaze, deep and cold, holding her in a grasp that left her breathless, almost suffocating.

Such eyes kept her restless even in her dreams.

Now this man’s calmness was beyond his expectations, but Avery deeply understood one point: the calmer he behaved, the more he hid his true temper, the more terrifying he became.

If she really went back with him, she might be tortured to death, but she couldn’t stay away, because she couldn’t drag Beckett Wright down, nor could she drag Wenyard Cooper’s lab, or Wenyard’s mom.

She cherished those who treated her well, even if it meant feeding herself to the tiger.

Because in this life, there were truly few people who genuinely cared for her, besides Wenyard and Wenyard’s mother who genuinely loved her.

And Beckett Wright’s appearance was like a ray of sunshine penetrating her heart immersed in darkness. Such feelings might not involve love, yet made her feel warmth, as if someone truly cared for her, respected her, rather than wanting to get something from her.

She didn’t want this sunny, warm-hearted man to be hurt by Joshua Hughes.

Therefore, she could only resign to obediently return to his side.

She had to go with him, or else the situation would become uncontrollable. She wanted to stand, only to find that her legs had been curled for too long, going numb, unable to stand.

Avery looked at Joshua Hughes with a bit of fear and quietly said, ”My legs are numb, I can’t move.”

Her words evidently made the choice, Joshua Hughes curled up his lips, walked past the dumbfounded Beckett Wright, reached the sofa, and stretched out his strong arms to lift her from the sofa.

Beckett Wright watched this scene, heart-wrenchingly painful.

It wasn’t because she belonged to someone else, but because she clearly didn’t want to, yet due to fear, terror, or some other reason, she helplessly compromised.

He wanted to step forward, but Avery, leaning against Joshua’s shoulder, signaled him with a look, gently shook her head, telling him not to act impulsively.

Joshua’s intense scent filled her nostrils, his chest broad and warm, yet in his embrace, she felt so anxious.

Avery lightly bit her lip, waiting for a verdict, unsure of what he would do to her.

The woman in his arms was light, her face almost buried into his chest, her cascading black hair swaying gently, filling his eyes, making it hard for him to see the road.

Her bare feet, like white jade carved delicately, henceforth should be closely guarded, preventing her beautiful little feet from roaming freely for other men to admire her beauty.

Joshua drove the car, and they hadn’t said a word since leaving the hotel.

Avery stole a glance at Joshua Hughes, his thin lips pressed into a line, his face calm, yet his eyes shimmering, seemingly hiding something.

She lowered her head, not daring to look at him again. Such a man, alas, even in harm, could make a woman lose her soul.

Hearing her almost inaudible sigh, Joshua’s cold, deep voice sounded by her ear, ”Why didn’t you return?”

Avery’s head hung even lower, what could she say?

Could she tell him she was provoked by his secretary’s most disgusting words to the point of wanting to die, nearly driving her mad, and some of it was indeed true?

She couldn’t refute what Victoria Diaz said, she indeed did that sort of thing in the car, in a corner outside the banquet hall with a man.

Victoria Diaz’s contemptuous gaze made her feel ashamed.

She couldn’t viciously curse the man before her, because all of the source of these things originated from her.

Therefore, she could only choose to sigh and remain silent.

Joshua continued driving the car, bringing a chill, drove all the way back to Imperial Garden.

Returning to Imperial Garden, Avery was still trembling with fear.

She was wondering if this man was holding back anger, wouldn’t he suddenly settle scores with her?

Would he, in a beastly manner, ravage her body?

The thought made her legs weak even if they were no longer numb.

She was truly exhausted these past two days, especially now post-fever, her whole body uncomfortable, she certainly couldn’t withstand his torment, and if he came twice more, she would surely be broken into pieces.

While anxiously in the room, Joshua pulled her hand lightly saying, ”Take a bath.”

Avery shivered fiercely, eyes enlarged staring at Joshua Hughes, what did he really intend?

Did he not see she was sick? This wicked man wouldn’t let her go.

”I’m very tired, I...” Avery hadn’t finished, but was scared into hurrying into the bathroom after a glance from Joshua’s eyes.

”No need to close the door.” Watching her hasty escape into the bathroom, Joshua coldly said behind her.

Perhaps because of fever, taking antipyretic drugs, always sweating, now soaking in hot water might make her feel a bit comfortable.

.

The bathroom in Imperial Garden was also built with wood, the tub made of wood, emitting a faint woody fragrance.

Avery quickly undressed, diving into the water.

The steam in the bathroom blurred everything around; Joshua sat beside the tub, seriously scrutinizing every inch of her skin, like a king inspecting his territory.

”What did you do yesterday with him?”
