Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

”Mr. Hughes, I’m really going to be late.” Avery Jane’s eyes flashed with anxiety. She couldn’t afford to be entangled with this man too much; the longer the time, the more dangerous it became.

”And you have to return to work at the Hughes Clan too, don’t you?” Avery Jane was a bit puzzled. Doesn’t he need to do anything? How did he manage such a vast business empire? It couldn’t be built from a bed.

”Call me Joshua.” Right now, he particularly disliked being called Mr. Hughes; he particularly disliked it.

The word Hughes made him feel uncomfortable.

His hand clamped onto her arm, preventing her from walking out.

Avery Jane always carried a faint fragrance on her, and the recent smell was too bloody and turbid. He needed to get close to her, using her scent to cleanse away those sins.

For so many years, his heart seemed to be submerged in ice water, only she was warm, only within her body did he feel like a living person.

Joshua Hughes now resembled a volcano about to erupt. Avery Jane clearly felt his emotions were off and naturally didn’t dare to provoke him at this time: ”Then Joshua, I’ll head to the company now.”

She wanted to free her hand, but she couldn’t break free no matter how hard she tried.

”Don’t go, stay with me...” His eyes were dark and sorrowful, like a beast that had been wounded.

Avery Jane’s heart felt like an invisible string was plucked; did this man also have times when he’s hurt?

:”Then how about I make some breakfast?” Now she was slowly figuring out this man’s temper, knowing she couldn’t be hard with him, or she would always suffer without gaining any advantage.

If she insisted on leaving now, she’d probably suffer; but if she softened a bit, things might pass.

The most important thing was to stay far away from that bed to be the safest.

”Alright.”

Joshua Hughes looked at her obedient and considerate manner, feeling a warmth in his heart, forcibly suppressing the urge to pull her onto the bed.

Perhaps they could find another way to get along, he wanted to try.

Avery Jane found the kitchen, which was intricately designed and well-equipped.

She quickly made breakfast, thinking maybe if she had breakfast with him, she could leave.

Thinking like this, her mind kept flashing to his seemingly wounded eyes. She never expected such eyes that were so moving and captivating, constantly shining like black diamonds, would one day be hurt, like the eyes of a mournful beast.

Who was the person that just came, Madame?

What could possibly hurt this seemingly strong and invincible man?

Chinese breakfast, but there’s clearly not enough time to make porridge, and she didn’t want to make porridge for other men, except for Wenyard.

Making a pot of porridge for someone she likes, that was a scene, a small fire in a clay pot, slowly simmering. She would always stay by the stove, carefully stirring with a spoon, watching the porridge turn into the best delicious state, dense and smooth as she served. Her Wenyard liked it.

As she thought about it, she was so lost in thought that she was pulled back to reality by a cold cough.

She looked around in horror and found no one.

She nimbly wrapped several wontons, and even made a golden, crispy omelet.

His appetite should be pretty good; after all, he’s such a big guy, and men with good physical strength usually have good appetites.

The guests who came in the morning had long since left, and when Joshua Hughes came down again, the foul, bloody smell had been replaced by the aroma wafting from the back kitchen.

Avery Jane’s cheerful figure walked out.

Holding a big tray in her hand: ”Well, I don’t have time to eat, why don’t you eat it yourself?”

She didn’t dare to recklessly throw down the tray and leave, although she wanted to, but still sought Joshua Hughes’s opinion.

She’s handling him; it’s clear this woman is just handling him.

This realization made Joshua Hughes’s barely suppressed anger surge again.

He thought she might care about him a little, which was why she made breakfast, but moments later, he realized, the woman had become smarter and would take a roundabout way with him.

The breakfast she patiently made was not because she was sensible and obedient, but because she wanted to divert his thoughts.

He just seemed to really have a moment where his brain was broken, thinking she would willingly make breakfast for him.

”Did you often do this before?” Joshua Hughes recalled Evelyn Yates’s words.

She said her sister-in-law often got up early to prepare breakfast for her brother, and they were very loving.

These words made Joshua Hughes’s mind conjure up various scenarios, good morning kisses, sweetly having breakfast together, her sending him off to work like the gentlest little wife, perhaps reluctantly kissing again at the door.

Avery Jane kept her head down as she put the breakfast from the tray on the table in front of Joshua Hughes.

She didn’t feel the danger signals that had already risen around her, with the man’s gloomy and cold gaze looming overwhelming...

When Avery Jane raised her head again, her heart skipped a beat. His tone when asking was calm, as calm as discussing trivial matters of daily life, but upon looking up, she saw his eyes were as deep as a terrifying black hole that could swallow people.

Her sharp chin was pinched up by the man’s fingers, making her meet his gaze.

The fleeting panic in her eyes didn’t escape his hawk-like sharp eyes.

With a pull of his big hand, she fell into his arms: ”Tell me, how do you make him breakfast?”

His voice was calm, but the calmer it was, the more dangerous it became.

Avery Jane’s small body trembled slightly; she had still been reckless.
