Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

”I don’t know who it is either, but these past two days that guy sends flowers every day and even writes love poems. It’s really romantic.”

The next sentence made Joshua Hughes’s face instantly flash a terrifying look. Sending flowers every day? Writing love poems?

Why didn’t he know about this? When did this damn woman manage to hook up with another man?

He knew her too well, she didn’t even need to make an effort; just sitting there quietly, when she looked at you, it was enough to make a man’s heart race.

It’s not surprising that a man likes her, but did she accept it? Did she call him her boyfriend?

Is that why she was so eager to escape, wanting to go into someone else’s arms?

Avery Jane, erase all these thoughts from your mind, leave nothing behind.

Who would dare touch my woman, Joshua Hughes? Aren’t they afraid of losing years off their life?

The car melted into the night, so cold it kept people at a distance...

The early winter sun slowly rose, laziness pervading the entire room.

The hotel’s unified cream-white decor was elegant and warm.

Avery Jane slowly opened her eyes, feeling as if she had walked a long road, so tired her whole body couldn’t move.

Even her eyelids felt weighed down, slowly opening her eyes. Where was this?

With a headache, she shook her head. Yesterday she went to a banquet, everything was supposed to be fine, then she met Joshua Hughes, who forcibly dragged her into a car. In the end, unable to endure the humiliation, she got out of the car in the cold weather. Beckett Wright found her and took her away...

The scenes flashed like a black-and-white movie, making her feel weak and bitter.

It was only yesterday, yet it felt like memories from half a century ago, so bitter and painful she didn’t want to recall them.

She glanced at the man sleeping by the bedside. The light from the window highlighted his gentle features. He was still in the clothes from yesterday, holding a towel in his hand. He must have taken care of her all night.

She really caused him trouble.

”You’re awake, Avery?”

Beckett Wright opened his eyes, looking at Avery sitting on the bed. After a night’s rest, she looked much better.

Her skin was smooth and delicate like jade, warm and serene like a gem held in a palm, her body exuded a faint fragrance, her figure was attractively graceful and elegant.

She was really quite beautiful. Beckett, a designer who had seen countless people, still felt Avery’s beauty was unique.

”Yesterday really was a bother to you.” Avery looked at Beckett, noticing his usually bright eyes had red threads, with faint shadows under the eyelids betraying fatigue. He must have slept very late last night.

All of this made her feel a bit embarrassed. Accompanying him to the banquet, she had been rude at first and then caused him to take care of her for so long.

”It’s nothing, as long as you’re okay. There’s one more dose of medicine this morning, I’ll have someone bring breakfast. Eat something before you take the medicine.”

Beckett said gently, as he used the hotel’s internal phone to order breakfast, giving detailed instructions.

”You really scared me yesterday, you were fine and then suddenly your fever spiked so high?” Beckett poured a cup of warm water for Avery. Her complexion was much better, but her lips were still dry.

She had sweated a lot last night, probably very dehydrated.

Avery took the glass, smiling awkwardly, ”I want to go to the bathroom.”

Without washing her face or brushing her teeth, she felt really uncomfortable.

Yesterday, she was too dazed to notice, but today she realized the hotel even had a well-equipped bathroom.

The basic setup was a given, but there was even a complete set of specially designed bottles, from toner to lotion to hand cream, from top brands, small and delicate.

She tidied up a little, and when she came out, the hotel staff had just delivered breakfast.

It turned out to be white porridge with a variety of side dishes.

”Avery, you just recovered, so you can only have something this light,” Beckett said apologetically. If she weren’t sick, he could have taken her to try the most famous brunch in this hotel.

”This is already very good, thank you.” Avery said softly to Beckett, ”Join me, you haven’t eaten either.”

The two of them quietly ate breakfast. Even such a light meal at this hotel maintained a certain standard.

Avery took her medicine, and Beckett picked up her phone from the table. ”There were calls yesterday, but you were already asleep. I turned off your phone to not disturb you. I hope there wasn’t anything important.”
