Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

Angela Scott forced herself to hold back her tears and the anger of injustice in her heart. She exchanged a few words with Avery Jane and then left, leaving Avery alone in the lounge.

The steaming black tea had an enchanting fragrance. Avery took a sip while gazing at the bustling traffic and the flow of people outside the window.

Everyone was busy rushing about for their lives, while she could only sit here drinking tea, aimless, losing her freedom, waiting for the man’s frenzied intrusion when night fell. Could she be any more miserable?

At noon, the simple meal provided by the company was indeed terribly rough compared to the ”Imperial Garden” of Joshua Hughes.

While eating her sandwich, Avery secretly mocked herself.

People really shouldn’t get used to good things. After eating there for just two days, how could she feel that outside food was no longer tasty?

The girl at the reception desk outside the restaurant was yelling, ”Avery Jane, you have a gift box.”

Avery hastily swallowed the last bite, finished her juice, and walked out.

The person who delivered the gift box had already left. On the big white paper box, a pure white satin ribbon was tied into a beautiful bow. Avery thought for a moment; it should be the evening dress Beckett Wright sent over.

She picked up the box, slightly pondering that he didn’t know her size. It would be troublesome if it didn’t fit.

Walking to the dedicated dressing room for models and artists, she opened the box and gently took out the evening gown.

In an instant, a flash of light crossed her eyes. The white dress, vintage pure white lace, body-hugging smooth tailoring, stitches so delicate they were almost admirable. The strapless dress had fine rhinestones sewn all over the top, and the back was made of transparent hollow lace. With such a gown, even underwear probably couldn’t be worn, right?

Avery blushed slightly, only to find there was another layer in the box. Uncovering the white paper, she realized Beckett was very attentive; he had even prepared shoes for her. What a thoughtful person he was.

Evening, Hughes Castle.

Evelyn Yates was excitedly directing the stylist to manage her full head of long, curly hair. The dyed dark red shone enchantingly under the light.

This was her first time attending a banquet with Joshua Hughes. She had often heard about the annual charity gala, where all the upper-class socialites and top billionaires would gather. And she would be the most noteworthy spotlight of this evening because today she was Joshua Hughes’ woman.

All the clothes of the Hughes Family were managed by dedicated people. Today, they had delivered eight gowns early for her to choose from.

Didn’t Joshua Hughes just like Avery Jane’s pretentious innocence?

Always wearing plain white clothes pretending to be pure. She herself liked that burgundy long dress, but to cater to his preferences, she still gritted her teeth and chose the white one.

The white floor-length dress was created by a renowned designer, though it slightly concealed the body’s curves. Looking at herself in the mirror, she couldn’t believe such meticulous dressing wouldn’t captivate Joshua Hughes’ eyes.

From afar, she saw the iron gate open and the car from outside driving in.

Evelyn’s heart rate accelerated; Joshua Hughes had returned.

Now it seemed even more difficult to see him than reaching the sky.

”Joshua, you’re back. I’m ready,” Evelyn descended quickly from upstairs, grasping his hand. Joshua gave her a cold glance and then shook it off without hesitation.

This woman could be considered beautiful, but Avery Jane’s beauty seemed to emanate from deep within, as if even every drop of flowing blood could make a man go mad.

After experiencing Avery, this woman seemed even more tasteless to him.

However, as a candidate for the Hughes’ Young Madam, every year’s banquet wouldn’t officially start until they made their entrance.

In matters like these, the formalities would still be observed, so he took Evelyn along to appease the situation.

”I’m going to change clothes.”

Joshua’s indifferent gaze made Evelyn a bit uneasy. Was he still angry about the breakfast incident she had made for him that morning?

”Joshua, are you still upset about that morning? I thought you’d like it. My sister-in-law always got up early to make breakfast for my brother, and he always enjoyed it. I just wanted to make you happy. I thought men would like it when their woman made breakfast for them, just like my brother and sister-in-law.”

Evelyn explained aggrievedly. She really just wanted to win his favor.
