Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

He felt a little embarrassed, as he had only thought about the aesthetics at the time and overlooked the function of keeping warm.

Joshua Hughes watched this scene, and his eyes turned crimson.

This woman is crazy; she dares to be affectionate with another man right in front of him. Does she have a death wish?

When he saw Beckett Wright holding Avery Jane’s hand, his gaze was so fierce it seemed as if he wanted to devour someone.

Avery Jane was almost overwhelmed by this look and gently withdrew her hand: ”Beckett, I’m going to the restroom.”

She wanted to avoid that fierce and brooding gaze, a gaze that seemed to want to devour someone whole, making her heart skip helplessly.

The long corridor of the Glass Palace was empty at this time, leading to a small courtyard. It was cold at this time, so naturally, no one was there. Avery Jane stood outside, taking a deep breath, trying to calm her emotions.

A shadow was slowly approaching her under the moonlight, like a hunter, quietly not wanting to alert its prey.

Her slender waist was suddenly held, and Avery Jane was startled. Turning around, she saw the moonlight shining on the man’s face.

Why did he follow her out?

Although there was no one here now, who is to say someone wouldn’t see them soon? His companion was her sister-in-law, and here he was entangling with her. What was this?

Avery Jane urgently tried to push him away: ”Mr. Hughes, let me go.”

Her panic seemed even more displeasing in his eyes. What did she do?

Otherwise, why did she act as if she’d seen a ghost when she saw him?

”Why are you with another man?” Joshua Hughes’ sharp black eyes, like a hawk’s, stared at her unblinkingly, carrying a bloodthirsty possessiveness.

Avery Jane shuddered with tension, feeling the increasingly dangerous air around them.

”You should be at the Imperial Garden, not here.” His deep voice carried a command, a tone of command that allowed no resistance, making Avery Jane involuntarily angry, as if her life should be arranged by him.

”I didn’t sell myself to you. I’ve already pushed myself to the limit by agreeing to your terms, Mr. Hughes. You promised not to interfere with my work; today was just work.” Avery Jane took a deep breath, meeting his gaze.

”Your work, your work is attending a banquet with a man? I never knew your work was so exciting.” Joshua Hughes’ face was filled with a cold chill, his voice even tinged with ice.

His long fingers pinched her chin, forcing her to look at him, his eyes as dark as a deep sea filled with a ferocious beast-like light.

”That’s right, my work is exciting. Are you satisfied with this answer?” Avery Jane’s clear eyes no longer dodged his, her indifferent tone as if discussing fine weather.

The fingers pinching her chin suddenly intensified, his dark pupils shrinking: ”What is your relationship with that man?”

”What kind of relationship could we have? We’re just work colleagues.” Avery Jane was anxious to clear Beckett of any involvement.

She didn’t fully understand what kind of person Joshua Hughes was, but she had seen him angry a few times. She couldn’t drag Beckett into this.

Her words clearly indicated she was protecting that man, which made Joshua Hughes’ heart burn with rage.

”Beckett, he’s just a small-time jewelry designer. How could he satisfy you, Avery Jane? You’re really disobedient.”

Joshua Hughes’ lips were close to her ear, speaking softly, but to Avery Jane, it sounded like a bomb had gone off.

His long fingers released her chin, gently stroking her shoulder. Her beautiful skin, like the softest, smoothest satin, glowed seductively in the moonlight.

”You didn’t want me to leave a mark on you, not because of the audition, but because you were going to wear this dress today, right?” She instinctively tried to evade his large hand, fear and panic evident in her eyes because she noticed the coldness in Joshua Hughes’ tone was becoming more apparent.

”Don’t misunderstand, it’s not like that. There was supposed to be an underwear fitting today, but for some reason, the company didn’t schedule me, really.” Avery Jane was a bit scared afterward; this was a man she couldn’t provoke, because the consequences were something she truly couldn’t bear.

The danger that surged forward, mixed with a growing inferno of anger, made Avery Jane forlornly realize that no matter how much she explained to him, it was futile.
