Medical and Martial God

Chapter 441: Chapter 441: Rescuing Only to be Captured

”Dongfang Cuihua?”

Standing at the window with his back to the door, Jiao Fuping’s expression instantly soured at the name. He spun around angrily, ready to berate the woman for senselessly showing up in Han Jin City. As the pawn in a political marriage between the reformist faction of Medicine King Valley and the Dongfang Family, Jiao Fuping had always assumed his fiancée, Dongfang Cuihua, must be an astonishingly ugly country bumpkin. After all, what kind of beauty would have such a crude, earthy name?

So when he heard Dongfang Cuihua had come looking for him, he flew into a rage and wanted to send her packing.

However, when he saw her true face and figure, he froze.

”You’re Dongfang Cuihua?” Jiao Fuping swallowed hard, asking in disbelief.

Good heavens! His fiancée was actually a world-class beauty?

”I am,” An Dongye nodded.

”How can you prove it?” Jiao Fuping couldn’t help but doubt her identity. The stunning woman before him simply didn’t line up with the name Dongfang Cuihua.

The short, stout man and the tall, thin man stared at her with equal skepticism, flatly disbelieving she could be Dongfang Cuihua.

ROAR!

An Dongye silently circulated her Mysterious Skill, and a tiger’s roar resounded from deep within her. ”Any more doubts?” she asked.

The Roar of the Forest Tigers was the signature of the Dongfang Family—impossible for outsiders to imitate.

”No more doubts! You really are Dongfang Cuihua!” Jiao Fuping grew excited, his eyes raking over An Dongye’s body. ”Why the sudden trip to Han Jin City? Are you here for me? It seems you’re just as eager to get married as I am.”

Hah, I’d love to gouge out those lecherous eyes of yours and pop them like grapes...

An Dongye cursed inwardly, utterly disgusted by Jiao Fuping’s sleazy demeanor.Pointing to Song Yushu, who was lying on the couch after having her sleep acupoint struck, she said, ”I came for her. I hope you’ll hand her over to me.”

”Impossible!” Jiao Fuping refused flatly. ”Song Yushu is the bait I’ve cast out. If I give her to you, what will I fish with?”

An Dongye frowned. ”You won’t even grant me this much face?”

Seeing An Dongye’s anger, Jiao Fuping didn’t want to make a bad impression on their first meeting. ”How about this: once the fish is on the hook, I’ll give Song Yushu to you. Until then, I guarantee I won’t harm a single hair on her head.”

”I want to take her with me now,” An Dongye stated, her tone leaving no room for argument.

Now it was Jiao Fuping’s turn to frown. He suddenly realized his fiancée was an impatient woman. A girl like that was no fun at all.

He said, ”I know you’ll be angry and think poorly of me if I refuse, but I really can’t give you Song Yushu right now.”

You can’t spoil women. Give them an inch, and they’ll take a mile. They have to be thoroughly tamed!

An Dongye’s expression darkened. She hadn’t expected Jiao Fuping to refuse her even this bit of face. This was a problem. She had promised her ”little brother” she would rescue Song Yushu, and now it looked like she was going to have to break her promise.

She considered taking Song Yushu by force, but she couldn’t defeat Jiao Fuping, let alone with his two helpers.

”The minute is up!” the short, stout man declared, saying something An Dongye didn’t understand.

Just as An Dongye was about to ask what he meant, she heard Jiao Fuping say, ”You two may go. A man must be true to his word. Since I said I’d start a massacre after one minute, I must honor my promise.”

What? Jiao Fuping was going to start a massacre?

An Dongye panicked. She wanted to stop the two men, but she knew she was powerless to do so and held her tongue.

At that moment, an idea struck her. Once the short man and the tall man left, only she, Jiao Fuping, and Song Yushu would remain. Jiao Fuping might be a War God, but she was a Great Grandmaster. More importantly, she possessed a speed that far surpassed that of a War God. With a surprise attack, she had a chance to take him down. She could then use him as a hostage to force his two cronies to stand down.

Yes! That’s the plan! I’m a genius for thinking of such a brilliant scheme so quickly... An Dongye mentally congratulated herself.

After the two men had left, she asked, ”Do you have anything to drink? I’m thirsty!”

She had already spotted the beer, mineral water, wine, and liquor on the coffee table. Her plan was to strike with the force of a thunderbolt the moment Jiao Fuping went to pour her a drink.

”Yes, of course! Please, sit down. I’ll get you some water.” Instantly turning into a fawning simp, Jiao Fuping hurried to the coffee table, grabbed a clean glass and a bottle of mineral water, and began to pour.

Just as he twisted the cap off the bottle and began to tip it toward the glass, An Dongye made her move.

WHOOSH!

Her long, fair, bare leg shot upwards in a vicious kick from below.

Normally, with a Great Grandmaster’s power and her speed that far surpassed a War God’s, a kick like this against an unprepared Jiao Fuping should have gravely injured him, ending his family line on the spot.

However...

CLACK!

”I truly didn’t expect you to attack me,” Jiao Fuping said with a smile, releasing her leg. ”Luckily, I’d already laid a trap in this room for Ye Liangchen. Otherwise, that kick of yours would have half-killed me.”

”How is this possible?” An Dongye’s beautiful face was a mask of shock. ”My speed shouldn’t be this slow! And... why can’t I feel my Martial Prowess?”

She realized her Martial Prowess had vanished. The so-called full-power kick she had just launched wouldn’t have threatened even the weakest Martial Artist, let alone a War God.

”See the censer on the coffee table?” Jiao Fuping pointed proudly. ”If I, a core disciple of Medicine King Valley, didn’t even have some skill with poisons, wouldn’t I be a disgrace to my title?”

An Dongye glanced at the censer. There was no visible sign of anything burning inside, and she hadn’t smelled any unusual odor since she’d walked in. For a colorless, odorless poison to incapacitate a Great Grandmaster like her so easily, it was clearly no ordinary concoction.

An Dongye felt a secret sense of relief that she had come instead of Ye Xiu. If he had walked into this trap and been poisoned, the furious Jiao Fuping would have surely torn him limb from limb.

”Come,” Jiao Fuping said, grabbing a lock of An Dongye’s hair and dragging her to the window. ”First, let’s enjoy the massacre game. After the show, you and I will consummate our marriage right here. That way, we can be wed as soon as possible!”

An Dongye’s face was a stony mask. She stared out the window in silent, anxious dread, completely unable to help.
