Medical and Martial God

Chapter 440: Chapters 437-440

The Dragon Lord was awakened from his sleep and said with displeasure, ”What could possibly be so important that you’d wake me in the middle of the night?”

”Fire Seed Company has spread news globally that they’ve betrayed the Long Family and defected to Huang Quan,” the middle-aged woman replied.

”What?” The Dragon Lord’s expression changed drastically. He said frantically, ”Notify Long Xiaoyun and Xu Zengshan immediately! Tell them to be wary of Du Long.”

”It’s too late!” the middle-aged woman said. ”According to Long Xiaoyun’s report, Du Long led all of Fire Seed Company’s experimental subjects in a surprise attack on the Xu Family. Of all the experts from both families who had surpassed the War God level, only Long Xiaoyun escaped; everyone else was killed. Furthermore, Du Long, Du Hu, and Du Hang are dead, leaving just over three hundred Fire Seed experimental subjects.”

Upon hearing this, the Dragon Lord swayed and nearly fainted from rage. He had recruited Fire Seed Company to work with the Guoyang Long Family and the Han Jin City Xu Family to eliminate Ye Xiu. But now, without even catching a glimpse of Ye Xiu, the three factions were in ruins.

The middle-aged woman continued, ”According to Long Xiaoyun, the remnants of Fire Seed are now controlled by Ye Liangchen, who has already agreed to cooperate with the Long Family.”

”Oh? That’s a pleasant surprise.” A flicker of light finally returned to the Dragon Lord’s dim eyes. He said, ”Notify Long Xiaoyun to bring Ye Liangchen to me as soon as possible. A genius like that... I want to nurture him personally.”

「The next morning」

While Ye Xiu and An Dongye were having breakfast, Ye Xiu noticed that she was distracted.

”I recall you came to Han Jin City to assess your fiancé. How is that going?” Ye Xiu asked tentatively.

”Ugh, that’s a sore subject. Don’t bring it up,” An Dongye said irritably, clearly unwilling to talk about Jiao Fuping.

”Alright, we won’t talk about the two of you. Let’s talk about my grudge with him,” Ye Xiu said, changing the topic. ”I destroyed Wankang Wellness Hall and got Jiao Fuping put on the wanted list. How do you think he’ll retaliate? Or rather, how will he use the power of Medicine King Valley against me?”

An Dongye thought for a moment before explaining, ”Since its inception, Medicine King Valley has remained secluded in Hundred Flowers Valley. Back in the agricultural age, life inside was relatively stable. They farmed within the valley, and even if they left, it was still to farm, so they had little desire for the outside world.

”But with the dawn of the technological era, many in Medicine King Valley began to have new ideas. They felt the valley should evolve with the times and keep up with modern trends.

”However, many others still adhered to the ancestral teachings and refused to emerge into the world.

”As a result, three factions appeared in Medicine King Valley: the conservatives, who insisted on upholding the ancestral decree of seclusion; the reformists, who insisted on emerging to keep pace with the times; and the neutrals, who didn’t have a strong opinion either way. They were fine with emerging or not emerging!

”The conservatives and reformists were at fierce odds. Eventually, the leader of the neutral faction proposed a compromise.

”The reformists would be given three chances. Each time, they could send one person out into the world. If that person could successfully establish themselves for ten years, then all of Medicine King Valley would emerge.

”If all three chances failed, the reformists would have to abandon their ambitions and remain obediently in Hundred Flowers Valley.”

Hearing this, Ye Xiu understood the signal An Dongye was sending. He asked, ”Which chance was Jiao Fuping for the reformist faction?”

”The third!” An Dongye said sternly.

Ye Xiu’s heart sank. I’ve offended the entire reformist faction.

”Little bro, you’ve ruined the reformist faction’s plan to emerge, a plan decades in the making. They won’t let you go. You should hurry back to Jin Ye City and lie low!” An Dongye said, looking at Ye Xiu with a mix of sympathy and worry.

Lie low? Heh. It’s always others who hide from Huang Quan. Who’s ever heard of Huang Quan hiding from others?

Ye Xiu didn’t say this out loud. He noticed Pressure King had appeared beside him at some point, staring intently at him with the back of his head. He was worried that if he spoke his thoughts, Pressure King would think he was showing off.

He asked, ”Why did your master betroth you to someone from the reformist faction of Medicine King Valley?”

”Because my master also advocates for emerging into the world. But our family has no skills besides martial arts. My master hopes that when Medicine King Valley emerges, our family can partner with them,” An Dongye explained.

So that’s how it is. It seems that by ruining Jiao Fuping, I’ve not only angered the reformist faction of Medicine King Valley but possibly An Dongye’s master’s lineage as well. Damn, I’ve really stepped in it this time!

”I just received a message. Master has ordered us to capture Ye Xiu alive and hand him over to the reformist faction of Medicine King Valley to be dealt with,” Dong Fangbai said, still staring at Ye Xiu with the back of his head.

An Dongye was stunned for a moment. She slammed her hand on the table and shouted angrily, ”Dong Fangbai, if you dare hand my little bro over to Medicine King Valley, I’ll disown you as my Third Senior Brother!”

Ye Xiu was deeply moved. An Dongye was truly a friend worth having.

Dong Fangbai looked troubled. ”I dare not defy Master’s orders.”

”Just say you couldn’t find him. That’s all you have to do,” An Dongye suggested.

The latter pondered for three seconds and then left.

Just then, Gong Jin called.

”Young Master, Jiao Fuping has kidnapped Song Yushu to lure you into a trap. She refused to cooperate, so he informed Song Mingde and Song Kaiwen, telling them to trade you for her. However, the father and son are very loyal. They refused to let you risk yourself and chose to report it to the authorities instead!”

Ye Xiu’s expression turned grim upon hearing this. That bastard Jiao Fuping, using such a despicable trick! He’s courting death!

”Send me the location,” he said in a low voice.

”Right away,” Gong Jin replied.

Ye Xiu hung up and was about to leave to rescue Song Yushu, but An Dongye stopped him.

”Little bro, since Jiao Fuping set this trap, it was to lure you in. He must have powerful backup waiting for you to walk into your death, so you can’t go. Let me go rescue Song Yushu instead!”

Ye Xiu didn’t expect An Dongye to succeed, but he understood her temperament. He nodded and said, ”Alright, then I’ll count on you.”

An Dongye nodded, got Jiao Fuping’s location from Ye Xiu, and hurried away.

As soon as she was gone, Ye Xiu left as well. Since he had already offended the reformist faction of Medicine King Valley, he wasn’t about to wait for them to come after him.

Taking the initiative—that was the style of Huang Quan.

Today, Jiao Fuping and everyone from Medicine King Valley involved in Song Yushu’s kidnapping... they all must die!
