Medical and Martial God

Chapter 412: Chapter 412: The Situation Changes Again and Again

The bald ancient physician said, ”Actually, we didn’t approve of Song Yushu’s ’three days free, 100,000-yuan compensation for failure’ event. After all, our medical skills haven’t reached the point where we can cure every disease. But Song Yushu wouldn’t listen, and both Song Mingde and Song Kaiwen strongly supported him.”

Another ancient physician continued, ”We firmly opposed Song Yushu’s driver volunteering to treat patients. However, Song Mingde staunchly supported the driver, leaving us no choice but to resign en masse.”

”That’s right, we’ve all resigned and have nothing more to do with Mingde Ancient Medical Hall. This isn’t about shirking responsibility. It’s about knowing our own limitations; we’re well aware of what we are and aren’t capable of.”

”We all reviewed the medical records and diagnosis for the patient, Wang Cuilan. We advised Song Mingde not to accept her, because we simply couldn’t cure her. She should have been sent to a better hospital, like Wankang Wellness Hall, but Song Mingde refused to listen.”

”Song Mingde is stubborn and arrogant. There’s nothing more for us to say. From this day forward, whatever happens at Mingde Ancient Medical Hall has nothing to do with us.”

With their statements, the ancient physicians drew a clear line between themselves and Mingde Ancient Medical Hall. Yet, they all uniformly neglected to mention that the driver, Ye Xiu, actually possessed medical skills—and highly proficient ones at that.

Song Yushu, Song Mingde, and Song Kaiwen glared at the ancient physicians. These ungrateful wretches were determined to drive the Song Family and Mingde Pharmaceuticals to their doom!

”Fine. Just fine. Some ’good brothers’ you turned out to be.” Song Mingde’s face turned pale with anger, his body trembling.

The ancient physicians bravely met Song Mingde’s gaze before glancing at Jiao Fuping. This was their pledge of allegiance to him, as they now intended to apply for jobs at Wankang Wellness Hall.

Jiao Fuping saw their looks and understood what these old men were thinking. But he paid them no mind, instead glaring at Song Mingde and berating him. ”Song Mingde, I used to call you a senior out of respect. I never imagined you were this kind of person, someone who would so casually trample on a patient’s life by letting a driver perform surgery. You’ve disappointed me immensely. This goes beyond a mere lack of medical ethics; this is a crime.”

Song Yushu, Song Mingde, and Song Kaiwen offered no rebuttal. They were completely disheartened. Once the day’s events were made public, the Song Family and Mingde Pharmaceuticals would be finished. Moreover, they were certain Jiao Fuping would not only disclose what happened but publicize it with great fanfare.

Song Yushu was now filled with immense regret. If he had known this would happen, he never would have agreed to let Ye Liangchen have his fun for three days. Now look at the result—I’ve played the Song Family and Mingde Pharmaceuticals right into their graves!

”Call the Patrol Officers!” Jiao Fuping yelled at the reporters, unable to contain his anger. ”Song Mingde is suspected of attempted murder and must be brought to justice.”

The reporters exchanged glances until one of them finally made the call.

Seeing this, the faces of Song Yushu, Song Mingde, and Song Kaiwen turned ashen. Once the Patrol Officers got involved, the situation would escalate even further.

Qin Ming waited anxiously to the side. He knew Jiao Fuping was relishing his victory, and he knew the Song family was in utter despair. But none of that mattered. Everything would change the moment Ye Xiu walked out of that operating room.

「Thirty minutes later!」

The Patrol Officers arrived at a leisurely pace. They could have been there in ten minutes, but after receiving a call from Ye Xiu, they deliberately took thirty.

”Chief Officer Huang? Why have you come to lead the team personally?” Jiao Fuping was shocked to see the crowd of Patrol Officers approaching, led by the Chief Officer himself.

Song Yushu and the others were also flabbergasted. The Chief Officer’s personal arrival with so many men made the situation far more serious than they had anticipated.

”What’s happened here?” Chief Officer Huang asked. His eyes darted around the room, but he didn’t see Huang Quan.

”It’s like this...” Jiao Fuping began to explain, embellishing the story with feigned fury. ”Song Mingde, Song Kaiwen, and Song Yushu have no regard for human life! This is premeditated murder! Chief Officer Huang, please take them away for a thorough interrogation and ensure they are sentenced harshly!”

After listening, Chief Officer Huang understood. Huang Quan must be the so-called driver who was currently performing surgery in the operating room. He looked at Jiao Fuping and asked, ”Director Jiao, are you confident you can complete Wang Cuihua’s surgery?”

”Of course. I am one hundred percent certain,” Jiao Fuping declared. ”Across all of Hexia Road, and even in the global medical community, only a handful of people can perform such a difficult surgery. I am one of them.”

”If that’s the case, then you knew perfectly well that the doctors at Mingde Ancient Medical Hall couldn’t save Wang Cuihua. Yet you’d rather stand here and watch the spectacle, seizing the opportunity to undermine the Song Family, instead of entering the operating room to help save her. You chose to stand by and let a person die,” Chief Officer Huang stated. These were the exact words Ye Xiu had told him to say.

Jiao Fuping felt as if he’d been stabbed. He was the one who had incited the reporters to call the Patrol Officers to arrest the Song family. Yet, with a few words, Chief Officer Huang had nailed him to a pillar of shame. He had lifted a rock only to smash his own foot!

Seeing the reporters’ eyes turn toward him, Jiao Fuping panicked. Standing by while someone died and using the opportunity to attack the Song Family—those two points alone were enough to ruin him.

”Actually, my mother is a patient at Wankang Wellness Hall!” Qin Ming stepped forward at the perfect moment to twist the knife. ”It was Jiao Fuping who forced me to bring my mother to Mingde Ancient Medical Hall for treatment. He knew full well they couldn’t cure her. He just wanted me to come here to get the 100,000-yuan compensation and ruin Mingde Ancient Medical Hall’s reputation in the process.”

The crowd erupted. What? So that’s what was really going on?

The ancient physicians were dumbfounded. They had been so eager to cut ties with Mingde Ancient Medical Hall, partly out of fear of being implicated and partly to secure jobs at Wankang Wellness Hall. But now, it looked like both Jiao Fuping and Wankang Wellness Hall were about to go down in flames.

Song Yushu, Song Mingde, and Song Kaiwen exchanged bewildered glances. How had the situation taken such a sudden, inexplicable turn? Although this shift still wouldn’t save the Song Family, it had managed to drag Jiao Fuping down into the mud. Faced with this situation, failing to land another blow would be doing Jiao Fuping a disservice.

”Director Jiao, you really went to great lengths to destroy the Song Family and Mingde Ancient Medical Hall,” Song Yushu said bitterly.

”To attack the Song Family and destroy the Ancient Medical Hall, you committed such a despicable act, Jiao Fuping! You’re playing with a patient’s life!” Song Mingde seethed. He was genuinely furious and disgusted by Jiao Fuping’s actions.

”You so righteously denounced Mingde Ancient Medical Hall,” Song Kaiwen said angrily, ”but it turns out you were the one who wanted to see Wang Cuilan die!”

”All of you, shut up!” Seeing the tables turn against him, Jiao Fuping roared.

Once he had stunned everyone into silence, he turned to Chief Officer Huang and said, ”Chief Officer Huang, you can interrogate the doctors and nurses at Wankang Wellness Hall. They can all testify for me. It was Qin Ming who didn’t want to pay the surgery fees. He was tempted by the 100,000-yuan compensation from Mingde Ancient Medical Hall, so he ignored my objections and brought his elderly mother here.”
