Chapter 147: Chapter 147: 4 Billion

When Ye Xiu suddenly embraced her, Kuroki Suzu’s reflex was to attack, but upon hearing his words, she froze.

She asked in a low voice, ”Really?”

”Do I have any reason to lie to you?” Ye Xiu countered.

”Alright, I’ll believe you this one time,” Kuroki Suzu sniffled.

Everyone at the auction watched, stunned, as the two who had been at each other’s throats just moments ago were now locked in an embrace. They were all hit with an unexpected public display of affection.

The auctioneer regained his composure and announced loudly, ”Number 17 bids 2,501,000,000! Do I have another bid? Going once for 2,501,000,000! Going twice for 2,501,000,000! Going...”

As the auctioneer’s voice boomed, Kuroki Suzu’s heart pounded so hard she held her breath, desperately hoping someone would place another bid.

”2,502,000,000,” someone finally raised their paddle.

It was Number 35!

Kuroki Suzu heaved a massive sigh of relief. She stealthily pinched Ye Xiu’s thigh and whispered, ”How did you know Number 35 would raise the bid?”

How would I know?

Ye Xiu sneered internally.Number 35 was Ye Shaokang—his second uncle.

Ye Shaokang had risked sneaking into Jin Ye City for the sole purpose of acquiring the Marrow Cleansing Pill to treat his beast of a father, Ye Zhong.

Ye Zhong had been poisoned, resulting in the complete loss of his Martial Prowess and paralysis from the waist down. Aside from Ye Xiu, only the Marrow Cleansing Pill could perform the Detoxification, healing his body ravaged by the potent poison, restoring his Cultivation, and even elevating his strength to a new level.

To cure the Ye Family’s foremost genius, Ye Zhong, the family would spare no expense to obtain the Marrow Cleansing Pill.

Ye Xiu’s move to drive up the price wasn’t aimed at Kuroki Suzu, but at Ye Shaokang.

”Are you two going to continue bidding?” Ye Shaokang stood up, removed his sunglasses, and shot a taunting look at Ye Xiu and Kuroki Suzu. ”I brought four billion this time to get the Marrow Cleansing Pill. If you can bid higher, be my guest.”

He laid his cards on the table to intimidate them. In his eyes, the other competitors were no threat. His only concern was Number 19, Ye Xiu, and Number 17, Kuroki Suzu. They both seemed incredibly wealthy—especially Ye Xiu.

As he expected, upon hearing the sum of four billion, everyone except Ye Xiu lost heart. They simply didn’t have the capital to compete with Ye Shaokang. Four billion! Heh, even if they had that kind of cash flow, they wouldn’t spend it on a Marrow Cleansing Pill.

”I give up!” Kuroki Suzu declared, already mentally plotting to rob Ye Shaokang after the auction.

”At least you’re sensible,” Ye Shaokang scoffed, then turned his disdainful gaze to Ye Xiu. ”What about you?”

”Since you brought four billion, I have to make sure you leave it all behind,” Ye Xiu said, raising his paddle. ”3,999,000,000!”

Everyone gasped.

What was with this kid? Was he a rabid dog, sinking his teeth into anyone he came across? He’d just made Kuroki Suzu cry, and now he was biting at Ye Shaokang.

The crowd realized, however, that Ye Xiu wasn’t actually trying to buy the pill for 3,999,000,000. He was deliberately forcing Ye Shaokang to keep bidding. If Ye Shaokang were to back down now... heh, that would be quite a show.

For a moment, all eyes were on Ye Shaokang.

”You’re ruthless, kid!” Ye Shaokang glared at Ye Xiu, the fury in his eyes practically bursting into flames.

Deep down, he instantly regretted revealing his hand. If no one had known his limit was four billion, he could have raised his bid gradually and possibly won the pill for under three billion. But now, he had no choice but to go all in. He considered letting Ye Xiu win and simply robbing him after the auction, but he couldn’t take that risk. The Marrow Cleansing Pill was the only hope for curing Ye Zhong. There was no room for error.

”Four billion!” Ye Shaokang raised his paddle, then glared at Ye Xiu. ”Kid, you’d better run fast after this auction, or I’ll kill you.”

Ye Xiu just smiled without saying a word.

Run? He wasn’t going to run.

”Number 35 bids four billion! Any more bids? Four billion, going once! Four billion, going twice! Four billion, going three times! Sold!”

The auctioneer’s voice trembled as his gavel fell. In all his years, he had never auctioned an item for such a high price. Taking a deep breath, he smiled at Ye Shaokang and said, ”Congratulations to Number 35 for winning the Marrow Cleansing Pill. Please proceed to the president’s office to complete the necessary paperwork.”

Congratulations? Heh! Ye Shaokang felt no joy in this victory. He had just been forced to pay four billion for a pill worth, at most, three hundred million. He was in no mood to celebrate.

”Kid, you just wait,” Ye Shaokang threatened Ye Xiu one last time before hurrying out of the auction hall toward the elevators.

Kuroki Suzu and the other bidders also rushed out. They needed to contact their associates and prepare. Once Ye Shaokang completed the transaction and left with the Marrow Cleansing Pill, they planned to ambush him.

Ye Xiu, however, did not leave the building. He leisurely exited the auction hall and took the elevator up to the president’s office.

When Ye Shaokang arrived at the president’s office of the auction company, he found it crowded with people. Seeing the president’s constipated expression, Ye Shaokang snorted. ”I just paid four billion for a three-hundred-million pill, and you made a massive profit. Who are you putting on that long face for?”

”Sigh,” the president lamented without explaining his pained look. ”Please complete the paperwork and leave tonight with the Marrow Cleansing Pill. You should understand the saying: a treasure attracts covetous eyes.”

”Hmph!” Ye Shaokang grunted. He knew he had to get the pill back to the Ye Family as quickly as possible. He didn’t waste any more time on small talk and began the paperwork.

The procedures were complex due to the enormous sum involved. However, all the necessary personnel were present, including lawyers and even the director of a bank.

Soon, the transaction was complete.

The president personally presented the Marrow Cleansing Pill, which was nestled in an exquisite White Jade Box. Ye Shaokang inspected it and, after confirming everything was in order, turned to leave.

The moment he opened the office door, he froze.

”You?” Ye Shaokang glared at Ye Xiu, who was standing right outside.

Even though everyone at the auction had worn hats, sunglasses, and masks, he recognized Number 19 instantly. After all, Ye Xiu’s SpongeBob SquarePants mask was far too distinctive.

”Didn’t you say you were going to kill me? I’ve saved you the trouble of finding me,” Ye Xiu said in a chilling tone.

”Since you’re courting death, I’ll oblige you!” Ye Shaokang couldn’t hold back his rage any longer and slammed his palm into Ye Xiu’s chest.

Ye Xiu didn’t dodge.

He took the full-force blow from Ye Shaokang, an Eighth Grade Grandmaster.

”You...” Seeing that his attack hadn’t moved Ye Xiu an inch, Ye Shaokang’s expression changed dramatically. ”You... Are you Song Penghui, the Sect Leader of the Vajra Sect?”

In his mind, only Song Penghui, whose Horizontal Kung Fu was unmatched, could take a full-powered blow from him and remain completely unscathed. Not even a Great Grandmaster could manage that.

”Am I Song Penghui?” Ye Xiu replied playfully. ”Why don’t you take off my mask and sunglasses and see for yourself?”
