Chapter 112: Chapter 112: Today, Master will teach you another move

The old man also knelt down. ”Divine Doctor Ye, my wife has a terrible character. She extorted money from you back then, so you can do whatever you want with her. I only beg you to save Nuonuo. The child is innocent...”

”When Fang Meijun came to my clinic to cause a scene all those years ago, did you know about it beforehand?” Ye Xiu asked.

”I knew,” the old man blurted out, then immediately regretted it. ”No, I didn’t know! I only found out after it happened.”

”Alright, I’ll believe you only found out afterward. Then you knew she extorted 100,000 yuan from me, correct?” Ye Xiu asked.

”I...” The old man was at a loss for words.

”You knew she was slandering and cursing me everywhere, didn’t you?” Ye Xiu asked.

The old man said nothing.

”Fang Meijun has character issues. What about you?” Ye Xiu asked coldly. ”If your character were even slightly better, you would have returned the 100,000 yuan she extorted from me. If you had any decency, you would have stopped her from slandering and cursing me everywhere.

”Of course, if Fang Meijun had become a good person in the ten years since, I could forgive everything she did. But as you just saw, she’s even more despicable now than she was back then.

”You’re asking me to save Nuonuo? Do you think I dare?

”If I save her, given Fang Meijun’s personality, she will definitely try to extort me again. She’ll say things I can’t even imagine and do things I could never predict.”

The old man and Fang Meijun hung their heads in silence, allowing Ye Xiu to rebuke them. With Nuonuo’s life in his hands, they didn’t dare show any anger, no matter how furious they were.

After Ye Xiu finished speaking, the old man pleaded pathetically, ”The child is innocent. My wife and I are old... you can beat or scold us as you please, but please, save Nuonuo...”

Fang Meijun frantically slapped her own face, looking utterly regretful. ”Divine Doctor Ye, I was wrong! I’m not human, I’m a bastard! Please, have mercy and save Nuonuo...” she cried.

”Master, they’re right. Nuonuo is innocent,” the Ghost Doctor said weakly.

Ye Xiu sighed. Although he really didn’t want to get involved with Fang Meijun’s family, the Ghost Doctor was right. A three-year-old child was innocent.

He said to the old man and Fang Meijun, ”I can save Nuonuo, but I require a medical fee of one million yuan. As long as you pay, I guarantee I will cure her.”

Hearing the demand for one million, the old man’s face turned pale. He and Fang Meijun were jobless, while their son and daughter-in-law were wage-earners still paying off a mortgage and car loans. Where could they possibly get one million yuan?

”I agree!” Fang Meijun declared. ”As long as you cure Nuonuo, I’ll give you whatever you ask.”

”Alright!” Ye Xiu nodded and said to the Ghost Doctor, ”Come on, let’s go to the operating room.”

”Yes!” The Ghost Doctor nodded.

As the old man watched Ye Xiu and the Ghost Doctor enter the operating room, he asked angrily, ”Where are we going to get one million?”

”Are you stupid?” Fang Meijun said, a cunning glint in her eye. ”Just agree first. We can deal with it after he cures Nuonuo. Once she’s fine and we say we have no money, what can he do to us?”

The old man’s eyes lit up. ”You’re the smart one.”

”Hmph. Once Ye Xiu cures Nuonuo, I won’t give him a single cent,” Fang Meijun said viciously. ”He’s the great Xuanse Medicine King. For the sake of his reputation and pride, he won’t be shameless enough to keep demanding the money from us.”

At that moment, a young man and woman—Fang Meijun’s son, Zhang Wenyi, and her daughter-in-law, Nie Tingting—came running over.

”Mom, Dad, what happened to Nuonuo?” Zhang Wenyi asked, out of breath.

”You tell them,” the old man said, glancing at his daughter-in-law and signaling for his wife to speak.

Fang Meijun panicked. How could she dare tell the truth? Averting her gaze from her daughter-in-law, she said, ”Well, Nuonuo said she wanted to eat hotpot, so your father and I took her. While we were eating, Nuonuo was singing, and two drunk men at the next table screamed curses at her. Then they splashed the hotpot on her face.”

Zhang Wenyi and Nie Tingting almost fainted. They couldn’t bear to imagine what their daughter looked like now, her face scalded by a boiling hotpot.

SLAP!

Nie Tingting furiously slapped Fang Meijun and screamed, ”You two old bastards! How could you let this happen? Nuonuo is only three! Who said you could take her for hotpot?”

Fang Meijun didn’t dare make a peep after being hit. She said feebly, ”Nuonuo was the one crying and screaming for hotpot, so your father and I took her.”

SLAP!

”You dare talk back?” Nie Tingting slapped Fang Meijun again. Pointing at her mother-in-law’s nose, she snarled through gritted teeth, ”Just you wait. If anything happens to Nuonuo, I’ll skin you both alive.”

Fang Meijun and the old man were terrified. They knew their daughter-in-law well enough to know she wasn’t making an empty threat.

”Divine Doctor Ye is treating Nuonuo personally,” the old man said quickly. ”She’ll definitely be alright.”

”Ye Xiu?” Zhang Wenyi’s expression changed. He asked quietly, ”He didn’t recognize you, did he?”

He knew perfectly well how his mother had extorted Ye Xiu back then, and how she had spread vicious rumors to slander him.

”No, no! A great man like Ye Xiu would never remember people like us,” Fang Meijun said hurriedly.

”Right, right, Ye Xiu didn’t recognize us,” the old man added.

Zhang Wenyi breathed a secret sigh of relief. He and Nie Tingting rushed to the operating room door and began to pace anxiously.

Meanwhile, inside the operating room, Ye Xiu was shocked by the sight of Nuonuo on the operating table. The little girl had already fallen into a coma. The remnants of the hotpot had been cleaned off her body, but the little girl—less than a meter tall and weighing only ten kilograms—was left utterly disfigured by the boiling liquid and chili. Her right leg was also severely twisted and broken.

”Her injuries are too severe,” the Ghost Doctor said. ”The burns and the broken leg aren’t difficult to heal. At most, they’ll leave scars. But her eyes and windpipe were scalded by the boiling, extremely spicy hotpot. Those injuries will be very difficult to treat.”

The assistants beside him also felt helpless. Even as doctors, they had never seen injuries this severe.

”Something we don’t know must have happened at the restaurant. Otherwise, her leg wouldn’t be broken,” Ye Xiu said while taking Nuonuo’s pulse.

”I’ve already sent someone to retrieve the surveillance footage. They should be here with it soon,” the Ghost Doctor said.

”Mm,” Ye Xiu nodded. ”Bring the Silver Needles. Today, Master will teach you a new technique.”

”Excellent!” The Ghost Doctor was overjoyed and quickly retrieved the Silver Needles.

The assistants were also excited beyond measure. Witnessing Divine Doctor Ye treat a patient was an incredible honor. Moreover, Divine Doctor Ye had said he would teach the Ghost Doctor a new technique but hadn’t asked them to leave. This clearly meant he was allowing them to learn as well.

Ye Xiu took out a Silver Needle and, while performing Acupuncture on Nuonuo, began to explain the Thirteen Phantom Needles in detail. ”Watch carefully. These are the Thirteen Ghost Needles, which require Inner Strength to activate. This is the first needle...”

The Ghost Doctor and the assistants listened intently, recording the lecture on their phones. They were shocked to see the severely burned and scalded areas on Nuonuo’s body begin to heal at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Moreover, her broken leg was slowly straightening and healing.
