Chapter 137: Chapter 137: The Red Flame Army, Qin Qing Goes Missing

At this moment, the students from the 22 classes undergoing military training on the field suddenly noticed their instructors seemed distracted. They became inexplicably tense and restrained, their eyes frequently darting toward the stands—no, not just darting, they were stealing peeks.

What was going on?

At once, all the students looked toward the stands curiously. There sat only a single young man wearing a face mask.

”Turn left.”

”Turn right.”

”About-face.”

Seeing the students looking toward the stands, the instructors were so frightened their hair stood on end. They hastily ordered their classes to turn around, so their backs were to Ye Xiu’s position. Then they stole glances at Ye Xiu’s expression, fearing the students’ gazes would provoke him.

A quick glance revealed Ye Xiu beckoning them over.

He’s telling us to approach!

In an instant, all 22 instructors grew extremely tense, yet they obediently ran to the foot of the stands. They hung their heads low, like students who had failed an exam waiting for a scolding, filled with fear, anxiety, and unease.

”You’re this scared? It seems you all recognize me.”

Ye Xiu stepped down from the stands and asked, ”So, who are you?”

Seeing Ye Xiu descend, the 22 instructors’ bodies tensed instantly. Upon hearing his question, beads of sweat formed on their foreheads. They all stiffened, their hearts seizing as if caught in a vise. Facing Ye Xiu, they felt like they were in the presence of a primordial beast, experiencing an indescribable, immense pressure.

”We, um, we are...” the instructor standing before Ye Xiu stammered.

”Stop stammering and speak clearly,” Ye Xiu scolded.

The instructor trembled in fear, breaking out in a cold sweat. ”We are from the Red Flame Army.”

Oh?

A look of surprise flashed in Ye Xiu’s eyes. Each of the Eight Great National Protector War Gods of Xuanse commanded a special combat team. Though they numbered only 500 members each, every one of them was an all-around Soldier King handpicked from Xuanse’s army of millions. The Red Flame Army was the unit under Qing Luan, responsible for guarding the Eastern Region.

He chuckled. ”The Red Flame Army is one of Xuanse’s most elite forces. Its members are iron-willed elites forged in blood and fire, who have long since made peace with life and death. Even knowing who I am, you shouldn’t be this frightened, should you?”

The 22 instructors could only laugh grimly to themselves. No matter how powerful or elite the Red Flame Army was, it wouldn’t be enough to withstand a few slashes from Huang Quan. Besides, who in the world could remain composed in his presence? Such a person simply didn’t exist! Even a nation’s king would have to tremble before Huang Quan.

”What mission did Qing Luan send you on? Don’t tell me it’s to train new students. I won’t believe that,” Ye Xiu said.

The instructor in front took a quiet breath and, plucking up his courage, said, ”The 200 million Gold Reward shook the world. The captain said that, without knowing your true identity, at least eighty percent of the world’s underground forces would accept the mission. Although your strength means you have no reason to fear those minor characters, even tigers doze off sometimes. So, the captain ordered all members of the Red Flame Army to mobilize and hunt down assassins who have infiltrated Jin Ye City. Our mission is to protect you in secret.”

Ye Xiu suddenly understood. So she didn’t send them to spy on me, but to help.

He asked, ”How many have you hunted down?”

This question made all 22 instructors collectively awkward.

”Not a single one.”

”Tell Qing Luan I can handle that trash myself. I don’t need her help. Once this training exercise is complete, you can return to your unit,” Ye Xiu said.

Hearing this, the 22 instructors grew anxious. They looked as if they wanted to say something but didn’t dare.

Seeing this, Ye Xiu chuckled. ”Don’t tell me Qing Luan wants me to train you?”

The 22 instructors were stunned, not expecting Huang Quan to have guessed the hidden mission Qing Luan had given them. They all looked at Ye Xiu with anticipation.

”Alright. Training a mere 22 people... I’ll consider it a bit of fun!”

Ye Xiu hesitated for only two seconds before agreeing.

The Red Flame Army guarded the Eastern Region under Qing Luan’s command. The stronger the Red Flame Army, the more stable the Eastern Region would be. Ye Xiu’s home was in Jin Ye City. He wanted to live a peaceful life with Qin Qing, and he needed a stable environment to focus on tormenting his enemies.

”It’s not 22, it’s 108,” the instructor before him said timidly.

Ye Xiu was speechless.

I agreed too hastily! But a promise from Huang Quan is as good as gold. Since I’ve agreed, there’s absolutely no going back on my word.

”What’s your name?” Ye Xiu asked the instructor in front of him.

”Sang Qiuyu.”

Sang Qiuyu’s face flushed with excitement. It was an incredible honor for Huang Quan to ask for his name personally. He glanced at his comrades nearby. Sure enough, every single one of them was looking at me with envy.

”Add me on SuperChat. I’ll create a group chat. Add the other 107 members to it. I’ll post any information about the training directly in the group chat,” Ye Xiu said.

Sang Qiuyu quickly took out his phone.

”abc13356606685. Added?” Ye Xiu asked.

Sang Qiuyu hurriedly sent the request. ”Added.”

Ye Xiu received Sang Qiuyu’s friend request and accepted it. Just as he was about to create a group and add Sang Qiuyu to it, his phone suddenly rang. It was a call from Ding Manlin, the Vice Chairman of Zhulu Group.

”Young Master, the Young Mistress is missing.”

”What?” Ye Xiu’s expression changed dramatically. ”Isn’t she at the company?”

”The Young Mistress was working in her office,” Ding Manlin explained. ”When her secretary went to call her for a meeting just now, she discovered the office was empty. After I found out, I searched the entire company but couldn’t find her.”

Ye Xiu frowned. The security at Zhulu Group was handled by the Blood Cloth Guards, and he had his own people placed in every department. Not even he could have taken Qin Qing from the company without a trace. Clearly, Qin Qing had left on her own.

He asked, ”Have you checked the surveillance footage?”

”We’re watching it now... Wait. Twenty minutes ago, someone completely bundled up came out of the chairman’s office, left the company directly, and got into an unlicensed black Chevrolet.”

Ye Xiu’s face turned grim. This was clearly an organized and premeditated operation. But what on earth could have made Qin Qing disguise herself so thoroughly, leave Zhulu Group in secret, and get into that black Chevrolet?

A sudden inspiration flashed through Ye Xiu’s mind. ”Send someone to check on the Qin Family’s situation.”

”Understood!” Ding Manlin replied.

Ye Xiu hung up. Sang Qiuyu timidly asked, ”Huang— Divine Doctor Ye, is something wrong?”

Ye Xiu hesitated for a moment. ”There’s something I need your help with.”

”It’s our honor to serve you,” Sang Qiuyu said, and the spirits of all 22 instructors lifted.

”Twenty minutes ago, an unlicensed black Chevrolet appeared at Zhulu Group. Help me find out where that vehicle went.”

After saying this, Ye Xiu rushed off. He couldn’t pin all his hopes on the Red Flame Army.

”Did you all hear that?” Sang Qiuyu said solemnly to his 21 comrades. ”Our time to be tested has come. This is the first time we’re carrying out a task for Huang Quan. We must find that unlicensed black Chevrolet before he does and prove our worth.”
