Chapter 126: Chapter 126: Heaven Rages with Rain, Man Rages with Misfortune

Mentioning Brother Tao, a look of reverence appeared on Brother Meng’s face. ”He was the king of Jin Ye City’s Underworld twenty years ago.”

”So it’s him,” the three young men said, realization dawning on them.

The yellow-haired one asked, ”Wasn’t he in prison?”

”He just got out yesterday. I had the honor of having dinner with him last night, and he said that if I ever need anything, I can just go to him,” Brother Meng said with a smile.

The three youths were immediately overcome with envy. Brother Tao was a legendary figure in the Jin Ye City Underworld, the last great boss to have unified the entire Underworld since the city’s founding. Even Meng Shaoxiong, who was at the peak of his power now, hadn’t managed to accomplish that. Although Brother Tao had been in prison for twenty years, the current big shots in the Jin Ye City Underworld had all once been his underlings. With a single call to arms, his influence and power could crush Meng Shaoxiong in minutes, allowing him to effortlessly reclaim his throne as the supreme boss of the Jin Ye City Underworld.

”How many people will Brother Tao bring? That damned couple is pretty tough,” the yellow-haired youth asked.

”Don’t worry. With Brother Tao’s influence, even if he came alone, that couple wouldn’t dare to breathe too loudly. Besides, when Brother Tao makes an appearance, he never comes alone,” Brother Meng said with absolute confidence.

The three young men grew excited, their hearts filled with anticipation. Brother Tao was their idol. With such a major figure stepping in, Ye Xiu and An Dongye were as good as dead.

「More than twenty minutes later!」

A mighty procession of more than a dozen cars roared up. Seventy to eighty men piled out of the vehicles. From their flushed faces and rowdy demeanor, it was clear they had all been drinking.

”Brother Tao...” Brother Meng bowed, a fawning grin on his face, and scurried over to a middle-aged man. ”I’m so sorry to drag you out here at this hour, Brother. I was at my wit’s end. How about this? After we’re done, I’ll treat you and everyone to a good round of drinks.”

The middle-aged man known as Brother Tao looked to be about forty-five or forty-six years old. He had a robust build and a full head of silver hair combed back slickly. His aura was powerful and utterly commanding.

”Little Meng, you’re being too polite,” Wang Hongtao said, patting Brother Meng’s shoulder. ”Since I, Wang Hongtao, have accepted you as my brother, I will never let you be wronged.”

”Come, let me introduce you to two good friends.” Pointing to a young man and an older man beside him, he continued, ”This is Xu Jinghao, the young master of Kangtai Pharmaceutical, and this is Ito Meiya, a Grandmaster-level Ninja Warrior from Sang Jing.”

Brother Meng and the three youths were stunned. Wang Hongtao was doing them a great honor! Not only had he brought seventy or eighty men to back them up, but he had also brought along a wealthy young master and a Great Grandmaster.

”Young Master Xu, it’s a pleasure. I’ve long heard of your reputation. Elder Ito, it’s an honor to meet you. My name is Liu Meng, I’m in your care,” Brother Meng said, hurriedly shaking hands with Xu Jinghao and Ito Meiya, fawning over them.

Xu Jinghao and Ito Meiya returned the courtesy, exchanging a few pleasantries with him.

”Little Meng, where are the people who beat you? Take me to them. They dared to hit my brother? I’ll cripple them today for sure,” Wang Hongtao demanded.

”They’re inside. Brother Tao, everyone, follow me.” Liu Meng and the three youths immediately led the way.

Meanwhile, Ye Xiu had already eaten his fill and put his mask back on. He watched An Dongye gorge herself on food and drink while boasting loudly. Seriously, this girl can really drink. He had only managed two bottles of beer. Any more wouldn’t get him drunk, but it would leave him feeling bloated. An Dongye, however, had already downed six bottles and seemed completely unaffected.

Just then, a commotion erupted in the barbecue restaurant.

An Dongye looked up and saw Liu Meng leading a crowd of seventy to eighty people flooding into the place. She paid them no mind at first, but when her eyes landed on Ito Meiya, her expression instantly sharpened.

She whispered to Ye Xiu, ”That bastard found himself a real expert. If a fight breaks out, find a chance to get out of here first.”

Ye Xiu was startled. This girl is pretty loyal. An Dongye is an Eighth Grade Grandmaster, yet there’s someone she fears.

He turned his head and his eyes immediately fell on Ito Meiya. Oh? No wonder An Dongye is scared. It’s the Great Grandmaster Ito Meiya from Sang Jing. But isn’t he one of Kuroki Suzu’s men? A dignified Great Grandmaster, reduced to running with these street thugs?

However, when his eyes landed on the young man beside Ito Meiya, his gaze turned icy.

Xu Jinghao! That son of a bitch is finally back in Jin Ye City!

Over the past ten years, Qin Qing had endured countless attempts on her life—assassinations, poisonings, staged car accidents, and more—all orchestrated by Xu Jinghao from behind the scenes. Xu Jinghao hadn’t been in Jin Ye City when I returned to the country, which was why I hadn’t yet made a move against Kangtai Pharmaceutical and the Xu Family. I never expected the bastard to not only return but to deliver himself right to my doorstep.

”Brother Tao, it’s those two!” Liu Meng strode forward, pointing at Ye Xiu and An Dongye. ”I was beaten by this woman, and my three brothers were beaten by this man. They also stole our money!”

Wang Hongtao nodded and ordered his men, ”Get all the irrelevant people out of here and lock the door.”

His underlings began to rudely shove all the other diners, the waitstaff, and even the owner out of the restaurant. Then, they shut the door tight.

Only then did Wang Hongtao sit down next to An Dongye. He took a drag from a cigarette and spoke to Ye Xiu. ”Kid, Liu Meng is a brother to me, Wang Hongtao. Your woman dared to hit him, and that’s a slap in my face. So, tell me, how are we going to settle this?”

”How do you want to settle it?” Ye Xiu asked.

”Ha, you’re a quick study, aren’t you?” Wang Hongtao said, mistaking Ye Xiu’s calm for fear. ”My brother can’t take a beating for nothing. So, here’s the deal: you leave one of your hands here and pay my brother 100,000 yuan in compensation. Also, I think your woman is quite pretty. Have her spend the night with my brother, and we’ll call this whole thing even. How about it?”

Hearing Wang Hongtao demand she sleep with Liu Meng, An Dongye flew into a rage. But a glance at Ito Meiya standing in the distance forced her to swallow her fury. Still, she was very curious what choice Ye Xiu would make.

”And if I say no, what do you plan to do about it?” Ye Xiu asked.

Hearing this, An Dongye felt a wave of reassurance. This new little brother of mine is quite loyal after all!

”Hahahaha...” Wang Hongtao suddenly roared with laughter. ”Kid, given your age, you’ve probably never heard the name Wang Hongtao, have you? If you had, you wouldn’t be trying to bargain with me.”

”Wang Hongtao. The biggest Underworld boss in Jin Ye City twenty years ago,” Ye Xiu stated calmly. ”I was already six years old when you went to prison, so I’ve heard plenty about your numerous evil deeds.”

Ye Xiu’s words made Wang Hongtao’s face darken. The kid had heard of him and knew what his name meant in the Jin Ye City Underworld, yet he still dared to negotiate. Not only that, but he had just brazenly called him the city’s biggest Underworld boss and accused him of countless evils in front of all these people. This was a clear sign that he wasn’t afraid.

Liu Meng and the seventy-odd underlings also registered the insult in Ye Xiu’s words, and their faces twisted with anger.

Wang Hongtao held up a hand, signaling his men to stand down for the moment. With a grim expression, he said, ”Kid, wild skies bring rain, and arrogant men bring disaster. I suggest you tone it down, or this day next year will be the anniversary of your death.”
