Medical and Martial God

Chapter 138: Chapter 138: I Am the One Who Laughs Last

The instructors certainly understood what Sang Qiuyu meant.

The Red Flame Army might be one of the eight strongest teams in Xuanse and famous worldwide, but that doesn’t mean we’ll catch Huang Quan’s discerning eye. He agreed to train us, but he might not take it seriously. Only by showing him our capability, sincerity, and value will he train us with all his heart. If we can find that unlicensed black Chevrolet before Huang Quan does, he will surely see us in a new light. And he’ll owe us a favor.

Sang Qiuyu and the 21 others were instantly energized, their fighting spirit soaring. They were confident they would find the black Chevrolet before Ye Xiu. After all, Jin Ye City was the Red Flame Army’s turf.

Ye Xiu hadn’t even reached the school gate when Mo Luo called.

”At around six this morning, three masked individuals in black went to the young lady’s home. Shortly after, the elders of the Qin family and Qin Anruo’s family also went there. Afterward, the three masked figures loaded the unconscious members of the Qin family into an unlicensed car and drove them away.”

After hearing Mo Luo’s report, Ye Xiu finally understood why Qin Qing had disguised herself so thoroughly and slipped out of the Zhulu Group alone.

Someone must have kidnapped the Qin family and called her, telling her to come alone to rescue them.

”Find out where the two vehicles carrying Qin Qing and her family went,” Ye Xiu ordered.

”Yes, sir!” Mo Luo responded.

After hanging up, Ye Xiu’s eyes narrowed. He was completely calm. The bigger the crisis, the calmer he became—a habit forged during ten blood-soaked years abroad.

The kidnappers’ real target is me. Kidnapping the Qin family to lure Qin Qing out was just a means to capture her. Then they’d use her as a hostage to draw me in. I haven’t received a call from them yet simply because the black Chevrolet carrying Qin Qing hasn’t reached the location where the rest of the family is being held. But who are the kidnappers? Dragon Hollyhock’s wings in Jin Ye City have already been clipped, so the chance it’s them is minuscule. Kuroki Suzu? Even less likely. An Dongye just slaughtered the Sang Jing Medical Delegation; Kuroki Suzu and Miyamoto Satoshi wouldn’t have the time or energy to spare for this. So who could it be?

”Ye Xiu...”

As Ye Xiu was pondering the kidnappers’ identity, he walked out of Saint He Medical College without realizing it. Suddenly, a taxi pulled up beside him. The window rolled down, and the driver turned out to be... Ming Yue.

”You?” Ye Xiu was astonished.

For Ming Yue to suddenly appear now, driving a taxi of all things, is clearly no coincidence. So the kidnappers must be Ming Yue’s mysterious backers! Interesting. I really underestimated this trash.

”Get in!” Ming Yue said with a smile.

”Alright!” Ye Xiu got into the passenger seat and asked, ”Were Qin Qing and the Qin family kidnapped by you?”

”You already knew?” Ming Yue was surprised for a moment, then said proudly, ”Yes, they are indeed in my hands.”

”You’re courting death,” Ye Xiu said coldly.

”Haven’t you already sentenced me to death?” Ming Yue shrugged, her smile a mixture of pride and disdain. ”Since I’m going to die by your hand sooner or later, I might as well try everything to fight back. After all, the one who laughs last is the true winner. And it seems that the one laughing last will be me.”

”Aren’t you afraid I’ll kill you right now?” Ye Xiu asked, his face stern.

”You wouldn’t dare kill me, not unless you want Qin Qing and the Qin family to die,” Ming Yue said, unafraid.

”I can kill you first, then go rescue Qin Qing and the rest of the Qin family,” Ye Xiu stated.

”Do you think I would be so foolish?” Ming Yue said, taking the Bluetooth earpiece out of her ear. ”This is a listening device. If the people guarding Qin Qing and her family don’t hear my voice for more than ten minutes, they’ll kill them all immediately.”

As fury rose in Ye Xiu, he looked at Ming Yue’s triumphant smile with surprise. When did this girl get so criminally clever? It seems there really is a mastermind behind her.

He asked, ”What do you want?”

”Eat this, and I’ll tell you,” Ming Yue said, producing a small brown medicinal pill. She added threateningly, ”If you don’t, Qin Qing and her family will die right now.”

”What is this pill?” Ye Xiu asked as he took it.

”You’re the famed Xuanse Medicine King. You can’t tell what this is?” Ming Yue teased.

Ye Xiu held the pill under his nose and sniffed. He exclaimed, ”The Seven Deadly Pill?”

He truly is the number one man in the medical world. He knew what it was just from a sniff! Ming Yue was secretly astounded by Ye Xiu’s terrifying Medical Skills, but on the surface, she just smiled. ”The Seven Deadly Pill has no effect on ordinary people, but if an Ancient Martial Cultivator takes it, they will lose all their Martial Prowess in minutes. Go on, eat it. Afterward, you’ll be an ordinary person, just like me.”

Ye Xiu looked at the Seven Deadly Pill in his hand, his expression turning grim.

Seeing this, Ming Yue was ecstatic. She taunted, ”Just a friendly reminder, there are millions of beautiful women in the world; you can always find another. But once your Martial Prowess is gone, you’re as good as dead today. Of course, I’ll keep my promise. After you die, I’ll release Qin Qing and the Qin family. But is it worth it? Trading your life, the life of a Grandmaster-Level Xuanse Medicine King, for theirs?”

It sounded as if Ming Yue was sincerely advising Ye Xiu not to take the Seven Deadly Pill. But she was well aware of his feelings for Qin Qing; he would never abandon her to save himself.

”I should have killed you long ago,” Ye Xiu said through gritted teeth.

”I think so too,” Ming Yue chuckled. ”If I were you, I would have killed me and everyone who betrayed you ten years ago on the very day I returned. Unfortunately for you, you were so set on playing with us that you gave us time to retaliate.”

”If I take the Seven Deadly Pill, will you really let Qin Qing and her family go?” Ye Xiu asked, his voice seething with a rage that made it seem he was about to strangle her.

”You can be sure of that,” Ming Yue replied with a cold laugh. ”Killing Qin Qing does me no good. On the contrary, I’d enjoy seeing her grief-stricken after your death.”

”Fine, I’ll eat it!” Ye Xiu gritted his teeth and made a move to toss the Seven Deadly Pill into his mouth.

”Wait,” Ming Yue said, snatching the pill back. ”To prevent any tricks, I’ll dissolve it in water. You can just drink it.”

Saying this, she took out a bottle of mineral water, unscrewed the cap, and dropped the pill inside. The Seven Deadly Pill dissolved the instant it hit the water, turning the clear liquid a light brown.

”Drink up,” Ming Yue said, handing the bottle to Ye Xiu. ”Once you’re done, I’ll take you to see Qin Qing and her family.”
