Chapter 127: Chapter 127: Ito Meiya

”An arrogant sky brings rain, and an arrogant man brings disaster. I’m not drinking that toxic advice,” Ye Xiu said coldly. ”These days, it’s always the honest and good people who get bullied. I think it’s better to be a little wild to avoid being pushed around.”

This was a profound truth, a stark reflection of reality.

”Being wild requires the capital to back it up,” Wang Hongtao said, his face somber. ”Your kind of baseless arrogance will only bring disaster upon yourself. Kid, you can do this the easy way or the hard way. Anger me, and it will cost you far more than just a hand, 100,000 yuan, and this woman.”

”I’ve been waiting for you to get angry. Haven’t you noticed?” Ye Xiu asked teasingly.

SLAP!

Wang Hongtao slammed his hand on the table and shot to his feet. ”Kid, you’re looking for death!”

”Many have wanted me dead, but in the end, they all died by my hand,” Ye Xiu said, slowly rising to his feet to meet the challenge. ”If you don’t believe me, feel free to try and take my life.”

An Dongye stood up as well, her heart racing. He’s so incredibly cool! Even though this is reckless, he’s facing so many people without a trace of fear, calmly standing up to Wang Hongtao. That’s my little bro!

”Good. Very good,” Wang Hongtao sneered, glaring at Ye Xiu. ”I just got out of prison and was looking for a chance to establish my authority. Since you’re courting death, I’ll make an example of you. I’ll let the entire Jin Ye City Underworld know that Wang Hongtao is back.” He waved a hand. ”Chop him to pieces and throw him in the Chi Li River!”

The words had barely left his mouth when the seventy or eighty thugs, who had been lying in wait, swarmed toward Ye Xiu and An Dongye.

”Take one more step and I’ll kill him!” An Dongye suddenly shouted, pressing a chopstick against Wang Hongtao’s neck.

The charging thugs skidded to a halt. No one had expected that, with such an overwhelming advantage, the initiative would be so decisively snatched away by An Dongye.

Wang Hongtao was just as stunned. He had arrived so arrogantly with his seventy-plus underlings to back up Liu Meng, even posturing and trading barbs with Ye Xiu. The next moment, he was a hostage.

He was so enraged he nearly spat blood. I just got out of prison! I was about to make a comeback, and this happens! If word of this gets out, I’ll be a laughingstock!

”Little bro, you go first!” An Dongye said to Ye Xiu, keeping Wang Hongtao in her grasp. ”Don’t worry. As long as you escape safely, I can get away in a heartbeat.” She said this mainly because she was afraid his sense of loyalty would compel him to stay.

”He’s not going anywhere. Neither are you.” Xu Jinghao, who had been enjoying the show, finally spoke up. He pointed to the man beside him. ”Allow me to introduce him. This is the Sang Jing Great Grandmaster, Ito Meiya. I’m sure you know what being a Great Grandmaster means. With him here, neither of you is leaving. I advise you to release Wang Hongtao and do as he says. Otherwise, this day next year will be the anniversary of your death.”

”I don’t kill trash. Don’t force my hand,” Ito Meiya said haughtily.

An Dongye’s expression turned grim. While she was wary of Ito Meiya, she wasn’t afraid of him. She was confident she could escape on her own, but not with Ye Xiu in tow. Therefore, she couldn’t run.

”I can release Wang Hongtao and surrender myself to you, on one condition: you let my little bro go,” An Dongye said gravely, prepared to sacrifice her life to ensure Ye Xiu’s safety.

”You’re in no position to bargain with me,” Xu Jinghao mocked. ”You have two choices: release Wang Hongtao and do as he commands, or die.”

”You’re forcing me to take you all down with me!” An Dongye retorted angrily.

”Ha!” Xu Jinghao scoffed. ”In front of Ito Meiya, you don’t even have the chance to take us down with you.”

”Then let’s find out!” An Dongye’s expression turned feral. She looked at Ye Xiu apologetically. ”Little bro, I’m sorry for dragging you into this. I’ll do everything I can to hold off Ito Meiya. Find a chance to escape. I hope you can make it.”

Even as she said it, she didn’t believe he could get away. Even if she managed to stall Ito Meiya, Ye Xiu still had to face seventy or eighty thugs. His chances of escaping alive were practically zero.

”I don’t need to escape, and you don’t need to risk your life. A mere Ito Meiya and this rabble are no threat to me.” Like an awakened tiger, a violent, brutal aura erupted from Ye Xiu. He fixed his cold gaze on Ito Meiya and said, ”Do you dare to fight me?”

Everyone present was stunned by the almost tangible pressure emanating from him.

An Dongye stared, completely baffled. Holy cow, so my little bro is actually this strong?

”Oh? A master, are you?” Ito Meiya sneered, his expression one of utter disdain for the aura Ye Xiu projected. ”But do you really think your meager strength is enough to contend with me, a Great Grandmaster? How naive!”

”Master Ito, teach him the power of a Great Grandmaster. Show him his place,” Xu Jinghao egged him on.

”Fine!” Ito Meiya agreed readily, his voice booming as he addressed the room. ”I imagine none of you has ever seen a Great Grandmaster in action. Today, I shall broaden your horizons!”

As he spoke, his own aura began to escalate rapidly. The tables, chairs, and dinnerware in the barbecue restaurant started to tremble violently. The bowls, plates, and bottles on the tables cracked and then shattered into pieces. Xu Jinghao, Wang Hongtao, Liu Meng, and their horde of thugs were utterly awestruck by the display. They had heard of Ancient Martial Arts masters, but they had never witnessed one’s power firsthand. This was more terrifying than any special effect in the movies. Seeing the looks on their faces, Ito Meiya’s vanity swelled with satisfaction.

SLAP!

A crisp, loud smack echoed through the barbecue restaurant.

In the next instant, everyone realized Ye Xiu had somehow appeared right in front of Ito Meiya.

”If you’re going to fight, then fight. Stop posturing,” Ye Xiu chided, casually slapping Ito Meiya across the face again.

The barbecue restaurant was dead silent.

Everyone was completely stunned.

Ye Xiu and An Dongye’s table was in a corner, while Ito Meiya and Xu Jinghao stood near the entrance, over ten meters away. Between them was a maze of tables, chairs, and dozens of thugs. Yet Ye Xiu had appeared before Ito Meiya without a sound, and not a single person had seen him move.

How had he done it?

An Dongye narrowed her eyes. This little bro of mine is far from simple.

”You... you... you...” Ito Meiya stared, his eyes wide with shock at the face just inches from his own. ”When... when did you get here?”

He was truly terrified. He himself, a Great Grandmaster, could not have crossed over ten meters through a crowd and furniture to appear so suddenly before another Great Grandmaster. Not only was it impossible for him, but he suspected that not even Kuroki Suzu, Yagyu Uemon, or any of the Nine Serpent Heads of the Tiansha Association could perform such a feat.
