Medical and Martial God

Chapter 123: Chapter 123 Reorganization of the War God Ranking

Miyamoto Satoshi clutched his stomach and spun around on the spot. The force of An Dongye’s kick made his insides churn violently, sending his entire body into painful spasms. However, the physical agony was nothing compared to the shock in his heart.

The Sang Jing Medical Investigation Team had only just arrived in Jin Ye City when they ran into a mysterious man even Kuroki Suzu was not confident she could defeat. Then, Tengjing’s right hand was broken. Two hours ago, they came across someone blocking their car—a Seventh Grade Ninja Warior named Take Shitamura—who was nearly beaten back to his hometown. And now, this tall, long-legged beauty was so powerful that she had reduced him, another Seventh Grade expert, to this state with a single kick.

My God! Is everyone in Xuanse a master? How else could I keep running into one expert after another?

An Dongye grabbed Miyamoto Satoshi by the collar. ”Well?” she asked aggressively. ”Do you still dare to get revenge on my little brother?”

”I am Miyamoto Satoshi, the Medicine King of Sang Jing! A distinguished guest of your Xuanse!” Miyamoto Satoshi threatened, gritting his teeth against the searing pain in his abdomen. ”You dare to strike me and treat me with such disrespect? I will go to the Honglu Temple and file a complaint against you!”

SLAP!

An Dongye slapped Miyamoto Satoshi across the face. ”I don’t give a damn who you are. Even if you were the emperor’s own mother, I’d still beat you senseless for daring to bully my little brother,” she snarled. ”Now, tell me, do you still dare to get your revenge?”

”I won’t rest until I have my revenge!” Miyamoto Satoshi roared.

SLAP!

An Dongye slapped him again. ”Oh, I love a stubborn one. Come on, let’s see which is tougher: your mouth or my hand.” As she spoke, she began to slap his face repeatedly. ”The second you decide you’re not going to get revenge on my little brother anymore, just make a peep, and I’ll stop.”

Miyamoto Satoshi was seething. As the Medicine King of Sang Jing, a revered and iconic figure, he had never suffered such humiliation. Furiously wrenching himself free from An Dongye’s grip, he yelled, ”I’ll kill you!” and charged at her. But then, she simply placed a hand on his head, stopping him in his tracks.

An Dongye stood six feet tall, towering over the five-foot-three Miyamoto Satoshi, her arms far longer than his. She held her arm out straight, pressing down on the crown of his head. His own short arms and legs flailed uselessly, unable to reach her at all. Then, one of her long legs shot out with a powerful THUD! Miyamoto Satoshi’s feet left the ground, his body arching backward as he went flying.

Before he could even hit the ground, An Dongye was on him, her long legs closing the distance in an instant. She grabbed him by the neck with one hand and—SLAP!—landed another sharp smack with the other.

”Speak,” she demanded. ”Do you still dare to get revenge on my little brother?”

An Dongye’s assault left Miyamoto Satoshi questioning his very existence. He did not dare to say a word, terrified he would just get hit again.

SLAP!

She slapped him anyway. ”Speak up!”

”I don’t dare!” Miyamoto Satoshi forced out through gritted teeth, swallowing his humiliation.

”You don’t look very sincere,” An Dongye said, narrowing her eyes. ”Say it with a smile. Now.”

This is too much! Miyamoto Satoshi was so enraged he could barely breathe. But he knew that discretion was the better part of valor. He finally forced a smile that looked more painful than a grimace. ”I... don’t dare!”

”See? If you’d just said that earlier, you would have saved yourself a beating,” An Dongye said with a sniff. ”You’re like a broken-down engine. You won’t start without a good kick.” She casually tossed Miyamoto Satoshi into a nearby trash can, then turned to Ye Xiu. ”Little brother, let’s go.”

The corner of Ye Xiu’s mouth twitched as he hurried to follow her. He realized that when An Dongye lost her temper, she seemed even fiercer than he, Huang Quan, was. This girl is pretty interesting!

Only after Ye Xiu and An Dongye were long gone did Miyamoto Satoshi crawl out of the trash can. He spat out a mouthful of blood and, in a fit of humiliation and rage, kicked the trash can to pieces. Then he located his semi-demolished black Mercedes and drove off.

A fall in the pit, a gain in your wit. He did not dare speed on campus, terrified that another master might pop out of nowhere and give him another beating. The moment he drove off the grounds of Saint Medical College, however, he slammed the accelerator to the floor. The black Mercedes became a blur, rocketing madly down the road.

When he returned to the hotel where the Sang Jing Medical Investigation Team was staying, Dragon Hollyhock and Kuroki Suzu were in the middle of scheming. Seeing Miyamoto Satoshi’s state as he entered, they both gasped.

”What happened to your face?” Dragon Hollyhock asked in surprise. Miyamoto Satoshi’s face was swollen into a round shape, as bright red as a Red Fuji apple.

”I was attacked...” Miyamoto Satoshi growled as he sat down, then furiously recounted the entire incident.

”Those bastards!” Kuroki Suzu snarled, jumping to her feet after hearing the story. ”Come on. Take me to them. I’ll kill them both.”

”Calm down!” Dragon Hollyhock chided. ”If you make a move, what happens if Qing Luan intervenes?”

At the mention of Qing Luan, Kuroki Suzu instantly reined in her impulse. As wild and confident as she was, she would never dare claim she could defeat Qing Luan, one of the Eight Great National Protector War Gods of Xuanse.

”Then what should we do? Am I just supposed to swallow this humiliation?” Miyamoto Satoshi asked, his voice tight with suppressed fury.

”As long as Huang Quan and Qing Luan are in Jin Ye City, we can’t make any rash moves,” Kuroki Suzu said bitterly.

”Huang Quan is nothing to fear,” Dragon Hollyhock said. ”He publicly declared his retirement and sheathed his sword. Besides, I heard that when a young man attacked him with stones at the airport, he didn’t even fight back. So even if we turn Jin Ye City upside down, Huang Quan won’t get involved.”

”But what about Qing Luan? With her around, we still can’t act as we please,” Kuroki Suzu pointed out.

”Simple. We lure her away.” Dragon Hollyhock thought for a moment as a clever plan formed in her mind. ”Since Huang Quan has retired and sheathed his sword,” she said in a cold voice, ”it’s time the Global War God Ranking was reorganized.”

”Reorganize the War God Ranking?” Kuroki Suzu was stunned. ”What does that have to do with luring Qing Luan away?”

Miyamoto Satoshi did not understand what Dragon Hollyhock was getting at either.

Dragon Hollyhock explained with a smile, ”The previous Global War God Ranking only had 1,000 spots, but that doesn’t mean there are only 1,000 people in the world with War God Level strength.

”Eight years ago, Huang Quan hunted down the War Gods, slaughtering their numbers from 1,000 down to just 683. In the end, he even forced each of the survivors to pay one hundred million gold to buy back their own lives.

”The War God Ranking hasn’t been refilled all these years for two reasons. First, the criteria for deification are incredibly harsh. Reaching War God Level alone isn’t enough to be granted the title. Second, Huang Quan’s reputation was so terrifying that no one dared to enter the ranking.

”But now that Huang Quan has retired, if someone were to propose reorganizing the War God Ranking and lowering the criteria for deification, I imagine the entire global ranking could be re-established in just a few days.”

Growing impatient, Miyamoto Satoshi interjected, ”You’ve been talking for ages, but reorganizing the War God Ranking still has nothing to do with luring Qing Luan away!”

”Is your head filled with shit?” Dragon Hollyhock snapped. ”When the War God Ranking is reorganized, we simply need to invite the Eight Great National Protector War Gods of Xuanse to act as the judges.”

Kuroki Suzu’s and Miyamoto Satoshi’s eyes lit up. If the Eight Great National Protector War Gods of Xuanse were invited to serve as judges, they would be responsible for assessing all the new applicants and then holding the deification ceremonies for the successful candidates. That entire process would take a very long time. During that period, they could do whatever they pleased in Jin Ye City.

”I’ll call my Master right now,” Kuroki Suzu said, eagerly taking out her phone. ”I’ll ask him to invite the Eight Great National Protector War Gods of Xuanse to Sang Jing to discuss reorganizing the War God Ranking.” With that, she dialed Yagyu Uemon.
