Yandere Stream

Kai couldn’t move.

The face staring back at him wasn’t merely similar to his own. It wasn’t someone who resembled him. It was him.

Older.

Not older in the ordinary sense of years passing, either. There was something in those eyes that reached deeper than appearance—the same suspicious narrowing whenever something felt wrong, the same tension around his mouth when he was trying not to show fear. Even the way he stood felt familiar. It was like looking at himself after living an entire life he couldn’t remember.

The older Kai sat behind the desk with the fountain pen resting between his fingers. He looked exhausted, not physically, but in a way that seemed to reach into his soul. There were no wounds, no gray hairs, no visible signs of age. Yet he carried the weariness of someone who had made the same impossible choice over and over again until the burden had become part of him.

Beside Kai, Adrian tightened his grip around the pen he had taken from the desk.

”You...” His voice trembled. ”You’re him.”

The older Kai smiled faintly.

”Eventually.”

Kai finally found his voice.

”What happened to you?”

The older man leaned back in his chair and regarded him quietly.

”That’s the wrong question.”

”Then what’s the right one?”

”When did you become me?”

Kai frowned.

”I don’t know.”

”Exactly.”

The smile disappeared from the older Kai’s face.

”You keep asking what happened. You never ask what you chose.”

The room seemed to shrink around them. The walls dissolved into darkness. The ceiling vanished. The floor faded away. Soon only three things remained: the desk, the chair, and the older Kai himself. Everything else became an endless black void stretching in every direction.

Kai glanced around uneasily.

”Where are we?”

”Between Chapters.”

”That’s not an answer.”

”It’s the only one you’ll understand right now.”

Kai stepped closer to the desk.

”What did you do to Adrian?”

The older Kai looked genuinely confused.

”Nothing.”

”You created him.”

”No.”

”I remember writing him.”

The older Kai tapped the fountain pen lightly against the desk.

”You remember asking someone to write him.”

Kai froze.

The sound echoed through the darkness.

”That’s the part you keep forgetting.”

The pen pointed toward him.

”You weren’t the Author.”

”You were the first character.”

Kai stared.

”Then who wrote me?”

A faint smile returned.

”You’re getting closer.”

Adrian stepped forward without taking his eyes off the older version of Kai.

”Why did you leave me?”

For the first time, something cracked in the older man’s composure. Hurt flashed across his face.

Deep hurt.

”I didn’t.”

”You did.”

”I couldn’t stay.”

”You could have tried.”

”I did.”

Adrian’s jaw tightened.

”Then why don’t I remember?”

The older Kai lowered his gaze to the fountain pen.

”Because every time I came back, the story reset.”

”What does that mean?”

He looked up again.

”It means I wrote you a beginning. I watched you grow. I watched you become someone. I gave you friends, enemies, failures, victories—everything a person needs to become real.”

His voice softened.

”And every time you reached the ending...”

He stopped.

”Someone erased it.”

A chill crawled through Kai.

”Who?”

The answer came immediately.

”You.”

Kai shook his head.

”No.”

”Yes.”

”I wouldn’t do that.”

”You did.”

”I don’t remember.”

”That’s why.”

The older Kai rose from his chair and slowly walked around the desk.

”You kept trying to save everyone. Every version. Every timeline. Every ending. You refused to accept that some stories end with loss.”

His footsteps echoed through the void.

”So the Author gave you a choice.”

He stopped in front of Kai.

”Continue the story... or remember everything.”

Kai frowned.

”What’s the difference?”

”If you continued, you forgot.”

”And if I remembered?”

The older Kai’s eyes darkened.

”You stopped.”

Kai’s stomach tightened.

”What happens if I stop?”

The answer came without hesitation.

”Everything ends.”

Silence followed.

Adrian looked between them.

”Then why are you still here?”

”Because someone has to keep writing.”

Adrian shook his head.

”No.”

”What?”

”You said every time Kai remembered, the story ended. Then why didn’t you let it end?”

The older Kai smiled sadly.

”Because I couldn’t.”

”Why?”

His gaze drifted toward Kai.

”Because he asked me not to.”

Kai froze.

”I asked you?”

The older Kai nodded.

”Long ago. You stood in front of this desk. You were terrified. You knew what was about to happen. You knew you would forget. But you still asked me.”

Kai swallowed.

”What did I ask?”

The older Kai’s voice became barely more than a whisper.

”You said, ’If I forget him... make sure he gets another chance.’”

His eyes moved toward Adrian.

Something cracked inside Kai.

He looked at Adrian and found Adrian already staring back at him.

Neither spoke.

”That was the promise,” the older Kai continued. ”You weren’t abandoning Adrian. You were trying to save him.”

Kai shook his head slowly.

”But I forgot.”

”Yes.”

”And I kept restarting the story.”

”Yes.”

”How many times?”

The older Kai looked away.

”Too many.”

Adrian’s face drained of color.

”How many?”

No answer came.

Adrian stepped forward.

”How many times did I die?”

The silence that followed was answer enough.

Kai looked at the older version of himself. The truth was already written in his eyes.

Adrian saw it too.

His voice became small.

Fragile.

”How many?”

The older Kai finally whispered:

”Nine hundred and thirteen.”

The number hit them like a physical blow.

Nine hundred and thirteen lives.

Nine hundred and thirteen beginnings.

Nine hundred and thirteen endings.

Nine hundred and thirteen times Adrian had become a person.

Nine hundred and thirteen times someone had erased him.

Adrian lowered his head.

”Why?”

The older Kai’s voice broke.

”Because every time you reached the ending... you died.”

Kai stepped forward.

”Then why didn’t you stop?”

The older Kai looked at him.

”Because on the nine hundred and twelfth attempt, he survived.”

Adrian looked up sharply.

”What?”

”You were supposed to die.”

”But you didn’t.”

”You broke the ending.”

A faint smile appeared on the older Kai’s face.

”You looked at the story and refused to follow it.”

Kai understood immediately.

”The Choice Line.”

”Yes.”

”The moment he chose himself.”

”Yes.”

”That was the first time.”

”Yes.”

Adrian stared at him.

”So...”

The older Kai nodded.

”You finally became someone the Author couldn’t control.”

A jagged crack suddenly spread across the darkness like shattered glass.

The older Kai looked toward it.

”We’re running out of time.”

”Time for what?”

”The Author is coming.”

”You’re the Author.”

”No.”

The answer was immediate.

”I’m only the person holding the pen.”

Kai narrowed his eyes.

”Then who is the Author?”

Instead of answering, the older Kai looked upward.

The darkness above them peeled apart.

Something enormous descended through the fracture.

Not a person.

Not a creature.

A hand.

A gigantic hand made entirely of black ink.

Its fingers stretched across the sky, and its presence alone made reality tremble.

Adrian instinctively stepped backward.

Kai immediately moved in front of him.

The older Kai smiled sadly.

”That’s what you’ve been fighting this entire time.”

Kai stared upward.

”What is it?”

”The reader.”

His heart skipped.

”The reader?”

”The one outside the story. The one who decides whether we continue. The one who can close the page. The one who can stop reading.”

Kai looked at Adrian, then at the older version of himself, and finally back toward the immense hand.

For the first time, he understood.

The true enemy had never been fate, the Author, the Choice Line, or even the story itself.

It was the possibility that the story could simply end because someone stopped turning the pages.

The older Kai stepped forward and pressed the fountain pen into Kai’s hand.

The metal felt warm.

Familiar.

Heavy.

”What do you want me to write?” Kai asked.

”Nothing.”

Kai frowned.

”Then why give me the pen?”

The older man’s body began dissolving into fragments of black ink.

”Because, for the first time...”

The pieces drifted away like ash.

”...I want to see what you write without me telling you.”

Kai’s eyes widened.

”Wait.”

”Don’t worry.”

The older Kai looked toward Adrian.

”He’s yours now.”

Then he turned back to Kai.

”And Kai...”

”Yeah?”

His smile became peaceful.

Almost relieved.

”Don’t make the same mistake I did.”

”What’s that?”

The last fragments scattered into darkness.

His final words remained.

”Don’t write an ending for someone who hasn’t finished choosing who they are.”

The void collapsed.

The desk vanished.

The darkness shattered.

Kai opened his eyes.

He was back on Platform Zero.

Luna stood directly in front of him. Daniel was shouting something he couldn’t hear. Noah was struggling to hold the conductor back. The stranger from the second train stared at Kai with open disbelief.

And Adrian was gone.

Kai’s heart dropped.

”Where is he?”

Nobody answered.

Then the departure board flickered overhead.

Once.

Twice.

Three times.

A single name appeared.

ADRIAN

Beneath it, new letters slowly formed.

DESTINATION — HOME

Kai stared.

Far down a newly risen third railway, a train had begun moving. Its lights glowed softly in the distance.

He knew that train.

Not because he had seen it before.

Because somewhere deep inside himself, he had been searching for it all along.

It was heading somewhere Adrian had never been.

Somewhere Kai had never reached.

Somewhere beyond unfinished journeys, forgotten beginnings, and stories trapped between endings.

Somewhere they had apparently been trying to reach from the very beginning.

Home.
