Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4992  Confronting the Darkness

Davisʼs voice echoed throughout the dark space. It caused the surroundings to reverberate as though an earthquake was going to surge and even cause a spacequake with strange currents swirling across the dark landscape. However, the two moon gates floated firmly, appearing to be unshakable as they exuded a mysterious aura.

”…”

Davis waited as what seemed to be seconds in this realm passed by.

But after a period of silence, there was no response.

Davis gazed down.

”Fallen Heaven, what do you think? Can you sense this being? Is it also aware of your presence? He asked softly.

Fallen Heavenʼs spiraling figure flashed with a soft white light ever so lightly.

”Unfortunately, I canʼt. This space has an extreme suppressive effect on me. Itʼs coming from you.”

”Me?” Davis shook his head, ”Iʼm not suppressing you, but this is indeed the realm of my Will. If I had to say, everyone else other than me in this place is subjected to this suppression.”

”I suspected so, but thatʼs what also confuses me. This space obviously doesnʼt have only you as its denizen, but to be able to hide from both of us- no, hide from you suggests that it has some power or resistance to your suppression. It seems like this thing might also own a part of your space. In that case, how much of your space does it own and what kind of traps has it laid?”

”…” Davisʼs expression was solemn as he also thought the same thing.

The two of them remained silent yet watchful, making no moves before Fallen Heavenʼs voice resounded again.

”I recommend you do not go into any of the gates. Itʼs surely bait.”

”Obviously, but you do not suggest I give this being a place to stay without even collecting rent, do you? Heck, I donʼt want to give anyone rent here.”

Davis gazed at the moon gates with disdain, ”A forceful eviction is necessary.”

”Thereʼs no choice.” Fallen Heavenʼs black-white sphere body rolled in his palm, ”In a frontal confrontation, youʼre likely not powerful enough to face such a being at this moment, especially now.”

Davis narrowed his brows as she shot a look back, ”Right…”

Aila might become a casualty in his fight against this being.

It would be a lie to say that he hadnʼt considered that, but from his perspective, he had an extra layer of defense in this state. Even if the Being of Original Sin wanted to overpower him, he had to get through Ailaʼs charm, his worship for Natalya that had manifested into faith, and even Zenovaʼs charm mark that had become dormant, seamlessly hidden under Ailaʼs charm-a high-level, complicated charm seal unlike Ailaʼs raw charm.

Regardless, with this triple-layered defense, he didnʼt think he even had a chance to lose.

After personally experiencing Fairy Velvetmoonʼs frightening charm technique, he knew that to control or overpower a soul or a Will in order to charm or possess, one had to go through and defeat the charms that were already there.

Hence, he didnʼt think there was anything wrong with trying to defeat the Being of Original Sin while sleeping with Aila.

Besides, he also had Fallen Heaven with him, who finally told him that they could face the heavens together.

What did they have to fear?

Riding on the momentum, he came all the way here, only to be impeded by these strange moon gates that resembled life gate and death gate from the mythical stories and folklores, where only one gate leads to survival- and in this case, perhaps retaining his advantage of suppressing the Being of Original Sin.

His prospects of defeating the Being of Original Sin seemed quite good, but with it hiding behind these moon gates or somewhere else, it became difficult to make a move.

Davis was well aware that he didnʼt possess full power here.

Although his Will had manifested, it didnʼt meet the requirements of what could be considered a full-fledged Will. Even Divine Exalts donʼt, as their Wills were only contained within the Godskull.

Nonetheless, he wasnʼt entirely put in a passive position either.

The Being of Original Sin had never overtaken or possessed him, so he guessed it was in a passive or dormant state. Therefore, unless he opened these gates that looked like bait himself or reached a certain threshold where this space could be controlled, probably in the True Deity Stage but for him it might be the Exalt Stage since he had already manifested the Will by comprehending Level Three Obscure Intent of Enigmatic Heart Laws, he didnʼt think there would be a battle with the Being of Original Sin.

It still showed no signs of appearing despite the Seraphims and the Celestial Warriors in his tribulation sensing its aura on him. This led him to wonder if he was searching for a ghost in a house that was already occupied by the living for many years, but the fact that he didnʼt have full control of this space was also dubious.

If he reached the Exalt Stage, perhaps, not only could he gain control of this space, but the Being of Original Sin might also start fighting for control since, theoretically, it should share the same power as him. At that time, maybe it might finally reveal itself instead of staying silent like this.

”Tch, itʼs not coming out…” Davis was infuriated.

He really… really didnʼt appreciate someone whom he hadnʼt approved of tagging along.

Fallen Heaven also grumbled softly, not appreciating someone it canʼt detect.

This Being of Original Sinʼs concealment ability seemed to be as good as itself, hiding from the heavens for so long.

”Heh,” Fallen Heaven sneered, ”I canʼt use my powers here, but you can use my powers. Use me to seal these gates. No matter what it is, if this space is yours, it cannot possibly trample over you unless you give the key to it yourself.”

Davis nodded, agreeing with Fallen Heaven.

Walking into the wrong gate could also mean handing over the key. It was a matter of intent since this was the Realm of Will.

He lifted up his hand and surged with a particular intent- to seal.

The black-white inwardly spiraling sphere began rotating within his palm. Instantly, various black-white karmic tendrils shot out from it, wrapping around the moon gates like spider silk. The moon gates were instantly wrapped in a mass of silk cocoons, appearing to be frozen under a layer of karmic curses and karmic severance.

If the Being of Original Sin even dared to storm out of these moon gates, it was going to end up in a world of hurt, being weakened even before it could try to snatch his Will.

Davis seemed satisfied with this arrangement. He guessed even if it had vision through him before, it should now be more or less sealed.

Having dealt with this matter, Davis turned his gaze to Fallen Heaven.

”Now then, care to explain any new powers you mightʼve gained? Since this is the Realm of Will, there should be none of those invisible karmic creatures listening or any transference of karmic burden.”

”New abilities?” Fallen Heavenʼs black-white hue flickered with uncertainty, ”You donʼt even use me anymore, and this time, changes within your Will rarely involve a deviation since youʼre a deviation yourself, leaving fate to fend for itself in an attempt to catch up and rectify. Why do you need to know? Itʼs not good for you.”
